I have now worked as a futbol referee for about two years. I am known fairly well by my game assignor, who has a manager like role for us referees. Though I initially became involved due to my brother becoming involved before me, as he moved on to other leagues, I stayed with the local teams from ages six to around 14. During the games that I would officiate, there often would me minor injuries and parent interferences in the game. In one of my most unexpectedly serious games, I had to disperse a crowd of adults in the midst of a U8 recreational soccer game. This game was at the end of the season; so I only expected a simple game of children chasing the ball, not really even kicking it. However, during the game, one of the coaches on the side …show more content…
My short term goals and long term goal do not always fall into place, as often my short term goals include doing well on a standardized test, or putting time in for my extra curricular activities. Though I do believe it is a universal problem in this world and the two goals may not be compatible, for now, I am able to balance my family relationships as well as the many smaller goals stack up. I told myself that this would be my main long term goal after sophomore year because after moving from Abu Dhabi some of my family relationships strained. However, remembering my father telling me that he made sure if he ever had a family, he would have more than one child because he wanted to give us the support he never had, I came to appreciate the unique bond between family that is like no other. During this year, rather than spending time with my family, I spent hours reading my textbooks over and over for my classes although it had minimal effect on my performance. But now, between my study sessions, I will play ping pong with my brother, help my mother cook, hang out with my little sister to listen to her most recent gossip, or talk about recent news stories with my father. Though I cannot say for sure why, not only did I become more fulfilled as an individual, but my scores in classes improved. Though my priorities always seem to be the most immediate short term goal I have in place, I always try to leave time aside for my family and try not to spend too much time in my own
High school coaches been sworn at called names and physically threatened by parents before, during, and after the games. Playing time is often at the root of the problem though sometimes a parent is outraged that their son or daughter isn’t being played at what the parent thinks is their child’s best position (Nolan). In addition, equal playing time is important because it developed every player skills.(Nicole). Take, for instance, the case of a young player who has never played for a club before. He’s 11 and charges around the place without being able to control the ball or kick. Many of his teammates didn’t think he should play for their team but the coach has been working with him and one day he wanted to let him play and believe it or not he did very well for his first game that he even made a goal for the team (David). The best thing to do whenever you’re in a sport is that the coaches
Academics has always been an important part of my life. Ever since I was a young child my parents have pushed me to lead good life academically. All throughout grade school I have had decent grades (generally speaking in the nineties or above), and I owe this, at least partly, to my parent's determination to give me the best possible education. I also owe this to my will to be at the top of my academic game. This was naturally quite easy for me up until my senior year of high school. When my senior year came around, there was a lot of pressure on me to make a lot of life changing decisions. When all of this was put on me, the last thing that i wanted to do was change the way i was living. I loved the way my life was, and going away from home to college wasn't something that i felt i was ready to do. Because of this i decided to enroll in Genesee Community College, which is about five minutes away from my house.
Everyone agrees that parent involvement is a good thing. But when the parent behaves inappropriately, it creates a poor environment for the children to learn and enjoy themselves. "Sideline rage" with parents behaving badly at youth sports events is such an epidemic, that 76% of respondents from 60 high school athletic associations said increased spectator interference is causing many officials to quit (Associated Press, 6/3/01). Parents are supposed to be role models, and the lessons they teach will determine their values and actions in the future. These days violence in children's sports is not limited to the playing field; overbearing parents are creating dangerous situations on the field.
Remember the days where the kids used to holler and run in the park, and swing in playgrounds on nice summer afternoons while the parents sat on benches. Maybe they had a soccer lesson after and played a basketball match with friends at YMCA. But today, kids run with sports gear to tournaments conducted by "elite" Little Leagues, while the parents who drove all over town to find the stadium settle down into the bleachers ready to observe every move their kid makes in the game. And of course, they share their complaints to other fellow parents about the coach, who is getting paid half of their paycheck. After a gruesome match on a field that is way too big for the kids, the parents provide some Greek Yogurt and ample of suggestions on how to
When football it gets competitive, and especially when then parents get involved with the game, so that makes the players get more competitive along with the coaches and parents. Parents promotes toughness in football , and defiantly when the players score they will usually get too excited, rude, let emotions showed the most , and not showing sportsmanship. Parents and coaches tend to take the fun out of sports by viewing it as a way to bully the teams." The National Association of Sports official receives over 100 reports of sporting event violence per year, but believing the number of non -reported incidents are much higher reports involve parents, coaches, and players"(live strong). Players and coaches are influenced to kids’ performance and are very bad impact on why parents shoul...
Also, the best way to rid of any chance of these incidents as a whole is by addressing them before they can happen. This can easily and cheaply be done with a universal program for people who are about to become a coach. This would ideally be a kind of training for coaches. For this to work, we would first have to introduce the idea to all sports programs and make it common practice to have prospective coaches go through training. Then, the administration would have the coaches go through seminars held by the administration where they go through the step-by-step to resolve issues with players as well as other useful coaching techniques.
When I was a young girl, my older brother always did very well in school and he and the rest of our family were always very proud of his work. As I grew older and noticed all of my brother’s achievements I decided that I wanted to not only achieve what he had, but to also achieve things that he had not. Because of this strive to reach and surpass the standards that my brother had set, I developed into a person with great determination. Throughout my life I have always set goals for myself and then did everything I could in order to meet those goals. This aspect of determination in my personality has allowed me to get to where I am today, a student of George Mason University. Whenever I am faced with an obstacle, such as a hard class, I make
“GET UP!” screamed my freshman soccer coach as I was on the ground, clutching my stomach. Some of my teammates also shouted, “Quit being a girl and get on your feet!” A clumsy defender from the opposing team kneed me in stomach during a corner kick when I jumped up to head the ball. I had the wind knocked out me and I couldn’t even take a breather. The game was still in motion and the players and the coach persistently kept yelling at me in order for me to get back to my position when the opposing team had possession of the ball. To say the least, I disliked the demeanor of my teammates and coach. Of course, not all individuals are like that, but I have dealt with some--teammates and coaches-- over the past few years of high school who frequently
Many issues and problems emerge in organizations that require action by leadership in order to maximize productivity. Because numerous decisions are made on any given day in an attempt for a school or organization to operate as smoothly as possible, constant effort and energy is required to monitor an organization’s culture. A problematic situation in my current organization that is rooted in employee motivation and attitudes is the lack of satisfaction communicated by group members. A year ago, the organization participated in a culture assessment that was conducted by the Kentucky School Boards Association (KSBA). This audit was ordered by our executive director because of the displeasure and dissatisfaction employees were communicating and displaying while at work. The
Many of my goals have been met through my hard work and dedication through my mother's constant pressure to do well in school. To give a clear example of what I mean, there was the time that I got Principal's Honor Roll. In order to get Principal’s Honor Roll I had to work very hard and maintain a G.P.A of 4.0 or above with no U’s or fails. Many times, I had to sacrifice going to parties, hanging out with friends to do my homework just to study for a test. Many times, I had to stay up very late to finish an assignment or study. My hard work allowed me to meet my goal of getting Honor Roll. If I didn’t work hard and dedicated myself into pursuing to get Principal’s Honor Roll I would have probably never got it. This has impacted me in a very positive way because I know that in order to obtain what I want I have to work hard, dedicate myself, and commit myself to that goal. My grades are another great example of my hard work and dedication. If I didn’t work hard to obtain all A’s , I would have probably never have got a 4.0 G.P.A. in my report card and would not get the Principal’s Honor Roll award. My dedication to succeed in life has made me into the person that I am
We were in a tournament, playing our championship game against a very skilled team. This particular game was extremely stressful because my team was losing by two goals and the game was close to finishing. My coach was very tense and anxious, as were the players. It also did not help that the parents were very loud and displaying inappropriate behaviour such as swearing. All these factors contributed to the pressure to win and make my parents, coaches, teammates and myself happy. In the last few minutes of the game, I was becoming frustrated that my team was not scoring any goals, so when one of the opposite team’s players was running close to my net with the ball, I ran up to her and violently tackled her. The player fractured her ankle and was taken off the field and I was given a yellow card by the
Setting goals is the most important thing you can do in your life. Without goal's you are going to have no direction, no ambition to be successful, no drive to stay in school, and trouble finding a career that will provide for you. Without these three things, achieving your goals is going to be one of the toughest tasks in the years to come.
Setting goals and priorities are an important part of any successful plan. By setting goals you are making a statement about what you wish to accomplish. Goals provide you with focus and motivation. You are more likely to get things done when you set goals for yourself. Priorities are the key to helping you to meet those goals. Priories help you to determine what tasks need to be done and when. Setting priorities keeps you on track and on time.
As a leader it is important to have a vision and a goal, but it is even more crucial to have followers who trust in your vision and goals. Trust is developed by displaying positive energy and attitude. Having a goal and a vision helps an organization move into the future. Without a goal or a vision an organization is going nowhere. It is bound to fail. The six steps of goal setting are vision, goals, objective, tasks, timeliness, and follow-up. Creating a mental picture of how the organization will look like in the future is the vision. When an organization has a vision, it is looking for change, growth, and improvement for the future. This vision of the future is challenging the present processes at an organization. This challenge is the first step in the process of great leadership. Leadership starts with a vision. Even Thomas Edison had a vision, a theory that gave us the light bulb. When setting goals, it is important to make sure that they are realistic, attainable, improving the organization, and having as many people involved as possible. Goal difficulty, goal spe...
I have always wanted to make good grades but I never really set any goals but, then I realized that setting academic goals are way more important than people realize . I then started to set goals like my sophomore year of high school after I did that it really helped me focus on my future and what I wanted for myself. My goals I think pushed me so much more academically they opened my eyes a little bit more. One Goal I set was to graduate High school with a Core 40 diploma, which I did, so that is one goal down and a bunch more to go. My senior year I started applying to college but my main goal was to make into Saint Mary-of-the Woods and when I received my acceptance letter I was ecstatic. So far, I am still trying to figure out my academic goals for college but, I do know for sure that I want to succeed in every single way that I can so I can make a better future for myself. A goal that I made this year is to make the dean’s list every single time, for this I will study so hard for every test, do all of my homework, and ask questions when I have them and maybe even getting a tutor. This challenge will probably be really tough but I believe that I can do it if I put my mind to it, and I tend to be a very determined
