Throughout the history of writing, cats have symbolized craftiness, misfortune, deceit and death. Richard Wright creates no exception to this reputation in his novel Native Son. Bigger Thomas, a young, depressed black man, is placed in an awkward position when he is interviewed for a job with the Daltons, a wealthy white family. The Dalton's unnamed white cat, gazes at Bigger, symbolizing initially white society. This gazing causes Bigger to feel angry and awkward so that is comes to assume a far more critical symbolic level on the night of Mary Dalton's murder. His feelings lead him to express himself overtly in violence, specifically Bigger's killing of Mary. In effect, the Dalton's cat kills Mary.

Consequently, parties pick party leaders based on how many votes they would get the party, rather than a candidate who is best qualified or deserving; and of course, the candidates that win the most votes are typically charismatic white male. Unlike FPTP systems, the MMP system has political parties use party list to decide who gets a seat in Parliament. The party list is published and distributed to every household prior to the election. Since in the MMP system one vote goes to the voter’s choice local representation and the other vote goes towards their favourite party, the party itself is not tied down to having one person representing the party. Matland and Studlar explain the correlation between female representation and the electoral system
“Many households participate in a vast web of exchange in which women borrow, barter, and pool their resources to survive. One woman might offer day care for a large group of women, another might have a car and contribute by driving folks to buy groceries, and other women might take turns cooking for various families”

Political Action Committees (PACS) are interest groups that help raise money. They do this on a voluntary basis so they can help the candidate in which they favor. PACS tend to contribute more to incumbents. There are three different types of money that is contributed to elections. There is interested money. This money comes from individuals or groups and is used to influence the result of an election. There is also soft money. It is an unlimited amount of money that is raised by political parties. Lastly, there is hard money. It is limited and fully disclosed (Trautman, 2013).
According to Hershey (2007), a political party “is a body of men united, for promoting by their joint endeavors the national interest, upon some particular in which they are all agreed” (p. 6). Political parties, in America, produce three interacting parts which is party organization, party in government, and party in the electorate. Party organization includes party leaders and the activists who worked for the causes and candidates. Party in government is made of both the men and women that compete for and hold public office with the party’s name. Party in the electorate is when the citizen show their loyalty to the party. The goals and strategies of a political party are to choose and compete elections; inform the citizens about issues important

A harmless visit to the neighborhood pet store turns into a ruthless encounter for me. Every Saturday, Pecan (my dog) and I visit a local pet store to purchase food and treats for her. Pecan and I pass by a dozen of shelter volunteers eagerly showcasing homeless dogs before entering the pet store. Shelter volunteers are special because they are willing to devote their Saturday morning to help homeless pets. On the way I stop and great each volunteer and dog, then I walk away emotionally grieving and trying to holding back tears. My sadness soon turns into anger, when I realize I cannot adopt every homeless pet. The pet population is a increasing crisis in America. In this essay I will discuss the cause and effect of homeless pets, I will begin by explain the anatomy that contributes to pet overpopulation, then I will discuss the consequences encompassing animal breeding, then I will examine the social stance that effects pets, lastly I will conclude by suggesting solutions.
...ds & Gelleny, 2007). Moreover, the status of women is independent on policy adjustments in developing countries. Governments in developing countries should organize an economically and political stable environment, to be economically attractive (Maxfield, 1998 as cited in Richards & Gelleny, 2007). Other critics state governments are forced to cut expenditures in education and social programs. This phenomenon especially affects women (Ayres and McCalla, 1997, as cited in Richards & Gelleny, 2007). Since the public sector is one of the main employers of females, women are often the most disadvantaged by governmental efforts to cut expenditures in the public sector (Hemmati and Gardiner, 2004, as cited in Richards & Gelleny, 2007). As a result, women will become unemployed and unable to expanded education among themselves or their children. (Richards & Gelleny, 2007)

Running an election campaign is very strenuous and time consuming. In many ways it is a balancing act. One must deal with maintaining public visibility, appealing to the voters, developing a platform, kissing disgusting babies, and meeting as many people as possible. However, one of the most important and difficult parts of the job is raising money. Money is necessary for all parts of the campaign, and without it, a campaign can grind to a halt. In this paper I will attempt to explain how a candidate gets the money to campaign.
The lesson is about knowing the concept of place value, and to familiarize first grade students with double digits. The students have a daily routine where they place a straw for each day of school in the one’s bin. After collecting ten straws, they bundle them up and move them to the tens bin. The teacher gives a lecture on place value modeling the daily routine. First, she asks a student her age (6), and adds it to another student’s age (7). Next, she asks a different student how they are going to add them. The students respond that they have to put them on the ten’s side. After, they move a bundle and place them on the ten’s side. When the teacher is done with the lesson, she has the students engage in four different centers, where they get to work in pairs. When the students done at least three of the independent centers, she has a class review. During the review she calls on different students and ask them about their findings, thus determining if the students were able to learn about place value.
