Ions Critical to Human Health
Ions are critical to human health. As defined by Dictionary.com, an ion is an electrically charged atom or group of atoms formed by the loss or gain of one or more electrons. The human body is the most intricate of ‘designs,’ despite the fact it is composed of basic natural resources called elements. The ions discussed in this paper include oxygen, carbon, potassium, and sulfur. A healthy body is composed of these ions, along with others (zinc, fluoride, iron, etc.). The absence of these elements could lead to an unhealthy body, and make it an easier target for diseases. The chemical formulas, charges, and properties will also be discussed in this document. Also, addressed is the essential role of the ion presented, the way in which the ion serves the body, the diseases that may result from deficiency, and the global distribution of these deficiencies. Ions are an essential part of human health. The ions that are present make the body’s daily functions possible, allowing it to be protected from cruel bacteria or diseases.
Oxygen
Oxygen (O) is one of the most important ions present in the body, making up 61% of the body’s mass. It aids in the destruction of harmful bacteria, while preserving the bacteria that is beneficial for the body. Oxygen takes on its role, and transfers the bacteria absorbed into the lungs, to the cells, allowing for cell respiration. In conclusion, our body is made up of several ions that are essential in the body in order to obtain a healthy system. In order to be provided with the benefits these ions offer the body, the body must be cared for by being fed the right foods, being exercised regularly and making sure it’s healthy by attending scheduled check-ups. Ions help the body in more ways than one. They provide the body with nutrients that strengthen our health system in order to ensure we maintain our well-being. These ions can be beneficial to the human body by maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
I should read the article more carefully. I answered O2 has nothing to do with cellular respiration and it is wrong. According to the article, page 5, O2 said cellular respiration requires both myself (O2) and glucose by facilitated diffusion. The correct answer is oxygen and glucose work together to produce ATP. ATP molecules are yield during cellular respiration.
