I am Sierra Rettenmund and I currently attend Clyde High School. I plan to attend Ohio State University next year to work towards receiving my bachelors degree in dance. I hope to one day perform as a professional dancer and eventually own my own dance studio. In order to be able to run my studio with ease I, along with the instructors I hire, will need to be good leaders. A leader, by definition, is the person who leads or commands a group. There are many qualities or characteristics that play a role in good leadership. If were to fail at portraying these characters I would inevitably fail with running my business.
Many people have different views in what a good leader should do or how they should act. No single person is wrong since this is an opinion based

Humility is when someone has a modest or low view of their own importance. Humility is being humble. If you meet one of your heroes and feel nervous or in awe for them, you are experiencing humility. This is serving your people rather than insisting they work for you. Someone who spends his life taking care of others shows humility. There is a quote that says “Humility is the mother of all virtues; purity, charity, and obedience. It is in being humble that our love becomes real, devoted and ardent” Being humble means accepting your limitations and making an effort to make the world a better place without wanting to take all the credit. For an individual to develop humility, they can not think they are too good for everything they do. If you develop the thought that you are better than everyone people will start to resent you and want to stay away. Obviously this is not a good thing if you want to be a leader. You also want to be an optimist to expand your humility, people who practice humility are naturally optimistic because they don’t waste their time complaining about all of the bad things that have happened to them or dreading the
The term “humble” means to refrain from showing pride or arrogance and to be modest. I feel that this word is very important to live by. To be humble means to be selfless in everything you do. It is acceptable to have pride and confidence in the tasks that you complete, but you should do so in a manner that will give people the impression that you deserve. The population of humble people in today’s generation is growing thinner with each passing moment. I have learned this from experience.
“A leader must be willing to sacrifice likeability in order to make decisions that are for the good of the people.” This is entirely true. When someone is a leader, their job is to watch out for the people and make the right decisions. Not every decision will be favored, but it’s most likely the best. A leader will understand that.
In Patrick Lencioni: Team-building lessons from the NBA (HSM Global, 2013o) Lencioni states, “People that have humility are more interested in sharing credit than getting it”. I am a firm believer in giving credit when credit is due regardless of how I may feel about an individual or group. Everyone should be recognized for their efforts, ideas, and work done to fulfill a goal. For example, I work with another team on patient engagement initiatives for the patient portal. Although we may often disagree, I give them praise for organizing meetings, facilitating presentations, and providing my team with the clinical questions from the enterprise teams. In addition, I exercise humility through the transfer of knowledge. For instance, I know that I am adept in public speaking, problem solving, and marketing. However, I am not analytical nor an expert in Microsoft Excel or information technology. I utilize the skills of my peers and associates to better understand these areas in exchange for sharing my own skills. I view my team members as peers with a goal of working collectively. As Robert E. Kelley (1988) states, “Good followers see coworkers as colleagues rather than competitors”
Leadership is being able to direct or guide other people by either your own actions or by actually guiding them into the right direction (Acumen). Inspiration to be a leader might come from many different areas like your family, friends, peers, or even teachers. My inspiration didn’t really occur to me until I started attending college in August 2013. In all actuality I never even thought of how to be a leader until I was in Mrs. Moore’s Perspectives class. I now have a desire to be a great leader, and the inspiration has come from Mrs. Moore, and my family. I am the first to attend college out of my family, so in a away I have already started leading my siblings in the right direction. Being a leader means inspiring others to pursue their dreams, and aspirations and helping throughout the journey to success. Being a leader has nothing with authority or being able to tell other what, and how to do things, it’s about having people who look up to you and want to follow your example.
In order for a leader to be a leader he/she must begin with the assumption that you are the one who matters most. As a leader you have to possess that level of confidence in yourself that you are capable of leading yourself “before you can lead others”. And when you develop this belief then you are better able of affirmative influence “on others”.
A good leader has to be self-aware and comfortable with self. In order to be a successful leader first you have to evaluate your own flaws and be able to learn and grow from them. A lot of leaders aren`t aware of their flaws this is called a blind spot. The blind spot prevent leaders from perfecting their task. Their mindset have to be open and understanding. However a lot of leaders aren’t this way. They have to have a balance between emotions and the company expectations.
Every human being of this world values a set of virtues. One of these virtues is humility, which is a modest or low view of one’s own importance, not believing one person is better than another. To develop the virtue of humility, a person must be open minded to the world around him, put others before himself, and be aware of his actions in order to better himself.
What does humility mean to me? Humility is something that I’ve only recently started to recognize and try to embody, so I’m still trying to figure out what humility means to me. However, when I think about humility I think about being selfless instead of selfish. I think about acts of kindness that are first nature responses and don’t have to be tried at. What I mean by that is doing something because it feels natural rather than having to think about doing something…you know that conversation we have in our heads when making a decision sometimes? I have heard others talk about humility being the absence of self, but I don’t necessarily believe that entirely. What I believe it means to practice humility is to recognize that we are all equals.
For many years, I have been told by teachers, family, and friends that I am a good leader. Until fairly recently, I had never truly thought about what it means to be a good leader and just took it as a compliment. Leadership is an intangible concept which cannot be properly outlined in a dictionary, but one which must be formed and explained only through one’s own philosophies and experiences.
To be a great orator, a visionary and a strategic thinker all make up a good leader, but by having all these traits doesn 't make up for the loss of the other things that a leader should have, like the ability to listen to his people 's need and the ability to think for the better of the nation instead of the power hungry attitude that ambition can led you
I do not think that any manager or leader can be perfect. There is always going to be someone who does not like how you handle something or how you lead in general.
Leadership is one of the most important facets in organizations. In most cases, leaders act with respect to organizational culture as well as the codes of conduct that determine the manner in which leaders relate with subordinates. Leadership entails the use of effective communication skills to get activities done in the workplace and to ensure that employees shelve their individual interests for the sake of their organizations’ shared targets. It is the role of leaders to ensure that consumers attain high quality products and services by making certain that members of their firms’ workforce are fully motivated to work effectively and utilize resources in an efficient manner (Bass, 22). With the increasingly sophisticated nature of the corporate world, leadership should not be based solely on the desire to control and coordinate affairs within the workplace, but leaders should also exhibit positive examples and continually monitor the changing trends in corporate governance to initiate the most relevant guidelines. Competitiveness can only be attained when leaders are in a position to set the right standards in their firms and coordinate affairs appropriately by understanding consumer and employee needs.
Humility is also a virtue, and it is also found in maturity. Justice, selflessness, prudence, wisdom, intelligence, and fortitude are all virtues, and they are all found in maturity. All of these virtues are just good character traits and show poise, and when they are combined together they produce a mindset of maturity in one’s character. Patience is shown in maturity through being able to assess the situation and think through all feasible solutions, coming to the best conclusion on how to proceed. The humility in maturity is gracefully being able to acknowledge that one is not as important as he or she would like to place themselves to be. In maturity, one must be intelligent know what is just and unjust, and in order to act with wisdom, they must have maturity. To be mature, one must have the confidence and fortitude to be able to carry out a truly prudent decision. In coordination with all of these virtues, a person can achieve a mindset of mental
Leadership, without doubt, is a significantly important function of management. It helps to aggrandize efficiency and to fulfil an organization’s goals. Leadership is the ability of a manager to induce the subordinates to work with confidence, determination, courage and zeal. It is also defined as ability to influence a group towards the realization of a goal. Leaders should have the capability of developing future visions, and to drive the organizational members to want to attain the visions. This paper states my points in which I duly believe, justifies the importance of an outstanding leader in any organization.
Education is a very important aspect in the life of a child. The level of success a student has in the classroom is greatly influenced by their teachers. Students, as well as their parents, depend on the teachers to guide them through their education. But who guides a teacher to perform successfully in the classroom? Principals and teachers play an important role in schools. A good relationship among school leaders and teachers is necessary and play an important role in making improvements in the school. Leadership refers to the “process in which one person successfully exerts influence over others to reach desired objectives”. (Okoji, 2015) Good leadership involves honesty, vision, confidence and commitment. It is the ability to inspire a
