Maintenance or Urdu language: It is said that to destroy any nation it is more than enough to take their language from them and now a day’s. Urdu is losing its value because of the influence of others languages especially English and Hindi. People are less aware of this fact that all around the world, unique native cultures and languages are disappearing at an alarming rate and our national language Urdu is one of them. Our mother tongue Urdu is replacing day by day from English as a more common language used in conversations and people use it more frequently to show off. Around 85% of participants involved in this survey have a preference to English rather than Urdu. Means they give more importance to English over Urdu language. And 78% people think that English acted as a threat to Urdu. Moreover, 86% pupils involved in this survey viewed English as a sign of modernism and class status, and only 3% disagreed with this view. They prefer 18% to speak both Urdu and English languages in public and more to speak English at professional and official levels. Further, 70% of participants think that in 19-27 age groups Urdu language is more neglected. And according to 21% teenage group neglect the most to Urdu. And the main purpose of it is our media which also took part in threaten Urdu, by using fluent diction from English in talk shows, in hourly news bulletins and using English names for the channels (e.g. Dawn News, Capital TV, Indus Channel etc.). 57% participants are in favor of that media plays an important role in promotion of English language. Hence, Around 87% participants illustrate that they are not able to communicate in Urdu language only without mixing it with English. Only 13% are able to talk in Urdu Fluently without using English
