Importance of Configuration Control in a Building Construction Project
Introduction
Fundamentally, construction projects can be viewed as grouped collections of information and data that require convenient and appropriate storage, organization and distribution to those needing them. Configuration control comes across as a means of signifying changes between the updated and previous version of prints and drawings. In the current paper, I will reflect on the importance of configuration control in a construction project. Configuration control is a critical aspect of a construction project because of the need to organize, store and distribute new information and data correctly and timely to all those who need them.

The aspect of quality is particularly evident in the book by Pyzdek and Keller. For instance, information can be poorly cataloged and some of the engineering documents are likely to be misleading or not sufficiently detailed. Problems can also arise from records imported from systems with different quality standards and cataloging requirements. With these issues likely to be inevitable, configuration control becomes crucial in improving the quality of stored information through constant improvements. Personally, configuration control particularly becomes important on acknowledging that change tends to be the only constant. Better ways of doing things, new technology and mistakes in the existing systems continue to emerge. To improve quality, the improvements that arise are incorporated into the emerging designs as well as practices. When one part has been altered, the value of configuration control appears as it ensures that the new part works appropriately with the …show more content…
The comprehensive approach that the configuration control employs ensures that the utilized data is correct to ensure that all the information sources and documents for all sections remain updated. Such is fundamentally made possible by the attention given to timely approval of the established information and the focus on checking the data to ensure that the parameters and steps adopted are appropriate. The significance of having a mechanism that would convey the correct information to the systems cannot be overstated. Such is considering the influence that information has in controlling functions affecting the project
In design of user interface, input controls are an essential element of any type and permits clients to execute different functions to make sure that input data is accurate, protected and complete. Data input controls make sure suitability, comprehensiveness, and accuracy of data throughout its transformation into application of computer or into data of a computer from its actual source. Both scheduled automated processing and manual online input may be used for penetration of data into an application of computer from. The designer of input control must define the satisfactoriness of both and manual controls over input of data to make sure that data is input correctly with most favorable exercise of computerized editing and validation and that procedures of error handling helps the accurate and timely resubmission of all approved data. Audit and Management Advisory Services educate clients that edits of input should be employed with a computer or form application, these input edits range from checks for unacceptable characters, invalid
In order to prevent both intentional and unintentional alteration, and destruction of information, any software application needs controls to ensure the reliability of data. Here are two specific controls per each one of the three data control categories, and how each control contributes to ensuring the data reliability in the format requested.
The Goal is a book that has an immense support on improvement, which will undoubtedly encourage the Total Quality Management terminology when trying to built up and improve their productivity. However, the Theory of Constraints also plays a very important role in this book, because it guide us to not only focus on the improvements of the business as a whole, but also to focus intensively on the constrains, “ Herbies”, or bottlenecks.
GM uses this system by containment, disposition, separation, and classification. Such a system guarantees that any outcome that does not comply with specified requirements is restricted from unintended use, restrained, and dispositioned by the administrators. Accompanied by this quality control is the verifying position where first-time quality and process capacity is advanced (Drew, 2011). Every team member is informed about any modifications in the production process and who and when to summon for assistance in the event of any quandary. Every team is also included in the problem solving to reach any improvement in goals.
Ackoff identifies five assumptions commonly made by designers of management information systems (MIS). With these assumptions, Ackoff argues that these assumptions are in most cases not justified cases, and often lead to major deficiencies in the resulting systems, i.e. "Management Misinformation Systems." To overcome these assumptions and the deficiencies which result from them, Ackoff recommends that management information system should be imbedded in a management control system.
Answer: Thе extent tо whісh а ѕуѕtеm mееtѕ thе nееdѕ and expectations оf іtѕ uѕеrѕ determines the quality of the system .Comparison with competitors also helps us determine the quality of the system. The major focus of quality management is on refining, defining and measuring the quality of the development process and the product during development of the software.
A project of the magnitude of the Dallas Cowboy's Stadium would have anyone excited and anxious to see it begin. As excited as they may have been, the project manager seemed very well prepared and used various tools and processes to have a plan in place and complete the project. One of the benefits of planning is that it improves efficiency (Wysocki, R., P. 145). "By doing tasks concurrently, you shorten the duration of the project" (Wysocki, R., p. 145). Many times throughout the project a lot of the work was done simultaneously. For example, in the course of the roof construction, the project manager developed a plan that included having an air space coordinator to have 17 cranes work together. Additionally, “at peak construction, nearly
However even though information is critical to the process it might not be easy for companies to achieve access to the same. Some issues that plagued the same are format of the information that is available across networks and sources might not be the same and may not be compatible with the systems available or might not be easily integrated with systems available. Once these issues are addressed we need to find out the actual information that is needed by the company or firms.

The main important role of the Project Management in the construction industry is to make everyone work towards the same goal that must be aligned with the strategic objectives of the company. One of the most relevant differences between any Project Management and the ones working on the Construction industry is the knowledge and skill in certain areas related to the field, it is essential to have a good understanding of construction methods, materials, scheduling and blueprint reading as well as knowledge in communication and leadership skills. In construction technology plays an important aspect to considered, for a Project Management it is important to be updated in any new technology used by construction companies. (Dykstra, 2011)
... in implementing control mechanisms that will help to measure the quality of products, at the time so that they are ready to evaluate the performance.
Quality is a very important thing in an organization; therefore it is not possible to improve the quality of a product or service substantially without major changes in all aspects of the organization. Because quality is so important if changes aren’t made throughout the organization the output of the product will no be very successful. Everyone in the organization plays a major role in the out come of its products.
...igure within the system. The software should enable usability in accordance to the company requirements; it should be in a position to have the functionality that meet the need of the company.
Quality is a word which has been used for a very long time, lots of books have been written about it, and many of the world scientists have defined it in many different ways. In this research paper, I will emphasis on the Quality Management System, why is it important? What is it used for? What is the importance of having a Quality Management System? Many people think implementing QMS costs a lot and all the benefit is a piece of a paper which say that your company is certified in having QMS so you can only hang this picture or certificate on the wall and tell your smart customer that you have it. In fact, no blames on them, they have not used this system yet, they do not know that this system save a lot and a lot of money for companies. They do not know that this system create a dynamic motion within the companies so everyone know what he/she is doing, everybody understands his/her role, and everyone can feel being an important part of the process then everybody can work towards a clear and unified target. However, having a lot of benefits requires a reasonable cost and in the same time it worth. There are several organization which are concerned and involved in this issue, those organizations have produced a unified standards and those standards have its requirements. The International Standardization Organization which located in Switzerland which have a contribution of 157 countries have produced a standard which is concerned about the QMS.
