Have you ever had problems approaching a stranger based off of their appearance being strange or unfriendly? A person’s choice of clothing has a plethora of effects on both him and you such as how you feel about that person or if you’d even want to talk to them. Recent studies have shown that a large amount of feelings are produced on account of the apparel that a person wears. Notably, people tend to wear clothing that they believe expresses who they are which could have a positive or negative effect. In spite of these studies the misleading argument is that appearance doesn’t matter, but it has a substantial amount of effect on the chances for deeds such as making friends or getting job offers. Therefore, expressing oneself through their appearance could significantly affect how others think or feel about that individual. Being able to provide this sense of security to others is helpful to being able to have people express themselves more openly and feel more comfortable around you. Therefore wearing the proper attire to social events could have a large impact on how people feel about you. Have you ever gone out dressed in a new outfit that you feel secure and confident in? That is an example of the effects that wearing nice attire can have on your emotional state. Wearing an outfit that you are confident that you can feel good in and be comfortable with how you look is important to deciding how you want to dress everyday. I’ve happen to notice in this world that other people assume your identity based on your appearance. Appearance is just like a costume, it covers you up to hide your true identity. Judging people based on their appearance is a real issue in the world today. In the book The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, the problem of misjudging based on appearance is very apparent throughout the novel. It shows us how people judge you by your looks. S.E. Hinton’s theme in The Outsiders is Appearance represents your identity in the world.
Demoss helps us evaluate how much of our self confidence is connected to our clothing and what other people think about what we wear throughout several sections of this book. Demoss covers three life principles that determine why we wear what we wear. The first principal covered in this book is ownership, Demoss talks about how modern women justify their immodest clothing by saying its their body and they can wear what they want, when in reality your body belongs to God. The second life principal covered in this book is lordship, Demoss explains this by mentioning modern societies belief that you should have the choice of what you can wear, this is an idea that goes against the Bible and shows that you aren’t allowing the Lord to control of every aspect of your life. The final life principal of The Look is citizenship, this principal states that we are to be citizens of the Kingdom of God and not followers of the world for every aspect of our lives including the clothes that we wear.
One can consistently argue that clothing plays a large role in a person’s everyday social interactions. In most societies, the way a person dresses themselves can tell a lot about them including, but not limited to, their race, religion, or socioeconomic status. In “Cultural Influences”, a cartoon by Carl D’Agostino, a group of men is depicted listening to their presumed leader proclaim that “too many of [them] are wearing Western clothes”. The men below are looking warily to the man in the “Western clothes” standing slightly away from them. The alienation that faces this Western man are a clear example of the divide between two cultures of different clothing.

Clothing is something that defines a person, and allows society to have an outlook on an individual’s lifestyle and beliefs. Unlike criticizing other material things like a car, a home or even something as simple as a television set, criticism of clothing is very personal. This suggests that there is a high correlation between clothing and personal identity and values. (Breward, pg.1) Clothing in a sense has the ability to communicate thought. However, similarly to art interpretations, this does not mean that any two people will perceive these visual aesthetics similarly.
In conclusion, fashion will speak out a person’s social signal, people dress on designs that blend with their social class. Just as population, social activities and fashion are changing with time. Fashion has made clothing to be convinient, everything needs to be done with the least effort and spend the least time.

Some schools are more relaxed than others; however, they all share the common theme of regulating what students can and cannot wear during the school day. But what happens when the latest fashion trends completely compromise the implemented dress code? That is the problem student’s-particularly young women- are facing in today’s society. The overwhelming increase in dress code violations has brought to light another issue associated with the codes: sexism.
If these new coming trends of fashion make you feel special and confident; then it also sometime embarrasses you in front of others when you do not apply things on yourself according to your individual personality. For young age people, who are much affected and influenced by new fashion, it gives harmful effects too. Girls have to face some crucial crime due to their unfit dressing style which does not suit the location.
Proper attire and good attitude is very important in evaluation of first impression. In the company, there are rules that I must obey and comply. This include in time management, and appearances. It is a big responsibility for me because when I was assigned to to my training in the company, I bring USM image with me too.
