Adventure education has been an interesting experience for me. I got to interact with people inside and outside of my class. Although we have the same career path and interest, everyone in the class is still very unique and have different personalities. I really enjoyed working with everyone, and I think that all future teachers should take this course. I will take what I have learnt here in adventure education and improvise it into my classroom to make it more enjoyable.
Coming in as a freshmen and moving here from a different country, I did not have a lot of friends. I was excited to start school and adventure education made it a lot better. I made friends who I will also be taking additional classes with outside of the CASEP program. Adventure education is such a fun class that I always look forward to my Fridays. There is so much more freedom in what I can write about and do in class that I don 't feel forced or suppress to think a certain way. I get to express my feelings and I feel like this is the only class where I have time to get to know my classmates better. Allowing for students to express their true feelings and write what they want to write brings out more potential and talent out of the individual. Student and teacher relationship is also better because individuals get to

Especially they people who facilitate it! (You MO, STEVE AND STEVEN)!! Couldn’t of asked for a better first year experience! I did not have any negative experience in the class, I love working with others and I realize that I do have what it takes to be a teacher. I believe in myself more and I trust my peers. I also have the ability to lead and be open minded. I grew throughout this course and so did the relationship I have with my peers. It’s such a great class that half of the time I forget that I am being graded. I love being part of this group, and everyone is so unique! I hope I can create this kind of classroom for my students in the
Learning experiences outside the classroom such as field trips, movies, etc. are also very important, not only to support the classroom learning and to provide a lively and life-referring learning experience but also to give the students a chance to communicate in an out-of-classroom-situation that is more connected to their lives than the theoretical world of the classroom.
In conclusion, my first impression was wrong, the classroom was not some kind of battlefield of teacher and student casualties. The students were not a lost cause that I imagine them to be. The students were well mannered and just wanted to be treated with respect. The classroom management was impeccable and astounding. It goes to show that although you may think you know a group of students you can be very mistaken.
Reading and writing things you feel and want to express to others is something all of us students will definitely benefit from. Being able to participate and contribute your own ideas, perceptions, points-of-views are critical for everyone to learn. I do believe as students we can all learn from each other, as well as our Instructors . After all, we are being educated via the internet, and we need to help each other in spite of everything, we all can be the image of one happy little family. When you feel like you already know someone just from being online via your own computer; it’s a remarkable way to get to learn, make new friends, and equally admiring your instructors for there generosity in caring about how you will receive your education and schooling. Wanting to be a teacher or an instructor one day myself, I know that I will love teaching my students and having a relationship with them that will last a lifetime. I still have a high school teacher that I visit from time to time, and always ask her for her help with certain situations. So its good to bond with your fellow students and instructors.
In conclusion I feel that I have gained knowledge that can only be obtained through hands on experience in the classroom. With this experience I changed my assumption about classroom management techniques and have a totally new outlook which will only aid me as a teacher. This will be of great help to me going forward but I feel as a teacher you must be constantly open to learning and improving
To conclude I’d like to say that something I’ll remember from this class years from now would be the great class experience. Everyone was very accepting and non-judgmental during the course of our class. Even when having to present in front of the class (one of my least favorite things to do) I didn’t feel that nervous, which is rare. I’ll forever be changed by the knowledge I’ve gain from this class because before I would have never imagined so many therapeutic accomplishments could become of group work. I plan to use this course quite a bit in my future career and hopefully help many people by the means of group work.
The Effectiveness of Outdoor Education Provision For this assignment I am going to identify the principles and benefits that outdoor education has to offer. After taking the time to think about what a principle and a benefit is I have come to the conclusion that a principle is the ethnics and morals and a benefit is the outcome and something you gain such as a new skill or completion of a task. People provide outdoor education for many reasons. The principles of a national skills centre are as followed. Ø To increase the level of skills Ø To run courses Ø To train coaches further Ø To allow clients to gain qualifications The benefits of a national skills centre are as followed.
As I reflect on what I have learned through the first half of the course, I am enlighten of the information that I have read as it influence me as a Therapist and an upcoming teacher. To learn about how to manage a classroom and recognize behaviors in a student to establish a successful classroom setting is always important to a teacher, but to actually read different strategies and discuss the information with other classmate to get a valid understanding in the information, improves my knowledge and capability to provide the information with both my clients and future classroom
Every student is going to be different, and I will without a doubt have more than a few extroverts in my classes. Which is something that I will have to consider when making lesson plans. Besides that the most influential part of this course was the Faubion observations. Although I do not want to teach elementary school level classes I learned a lot through them. Espessially during my second observation where I learned about IEP’s, and how schools implement them. I realized that I will have to manage a classroom where not every student is going to want to learn, but it is going to be my job to make them want to. I also realized that when a student starts lashing out it is not necessarily because they do not like you, but rather that they are either going through something, or their ability to handle stress, frustration, and emotions could be
Overall, this has been one of my favorite classes in that I can work at my own pace, make my own deadlines (besides the due dates), and communicate with others in ways I had never done before. I am more of a hands on, face to face, confrontation kind of student,
In summary, this unit has been extremely beneficial in developing my full understanding of teaching.
learning. For example, in secondary school, students are required to finish the “Other Learning Experiences” programs. It aims to expand students’ learning contexts instead of simply learning in the classroom. While some school hold more outdoor activities as they agree that outdoor activities is beneficial for students, others reject it and continue to use the traditional classroom teaching. This essay examines both sides of for and against arguments of having more outdoor learning activities.
I have enjoyed many things about this class. One of the things that I have enjoyed was finding out about my learning patterns. I enjoyed finding out about my learning patterns because it has helped me so much in my life. I can have a conversation with someone and will try and figure out how they learn. I also enjoyed how everything was explained about what our instructor was expecting from us. I enjoyed this because it saves a lot of questions I may have needed to ask my instructor. Interacting with my peers is something that I enjoy as well. When I interact with my peers I feel like I am really in a classroom. Things that I would like to change about this class would be the responses from emails; I wish the responses would be quicker when there are questions. I feel that my expectations of online learning were met plus more. I feel this way because I am actually learning things and I am not just getting a grade because I turned information in. I thought online learning wasn’t serious; I was scared I wouldn’t get the correct knowledge as I would on
I thought that the teachers did a nice job with their classroom set up. I felt like I could have kept myself busy all day just by looking at the walls and seeing the pictures of presidents and famous historic quotes by famous people of our nations past. One thing I really enjoyed was the time the teachers allotted me at the end of each class to reflect to the class. Not only throughout my past middle school, and high school experiences but also, and most importantly, my current college experiences, the temptations that I have had to endure have definitely been rewarding.
There was a significant amount of knowledge given in this course, involving concepts that in our teaching career will be extremely important. From this course I have gained a significant amount of learning experiences. I had the pleasure learning about how the educational system has come to be what it is today and who were the important people in the creation of the public education, like Horace Mann. Watching the videos and reading the chapters required has opened my eyes more of how a teacher should respond to different situations involving a student, For example when we read the chapter on the laws that revolve around the educators and the students. I had absolutely no clue that students had rights while in school property. Another learning
Class participation was great everyone joined in on the discussion. People in the class felt comfortable talking out loud and putting there two sense in.
