...society now classifies leisure as simply ‘free time.’ Time away from work or school, no matter how it is enjoyed, is more broadly defined as leisure today.
Students can benefit from recreation and apply these benefits to their daily lives. Also, the interview that I have done with Chgaoyu Chen shows me that recreation could be an indispensable of one’s life, and is an important contribution to one’s academic success. Additionally, I feel that students should have a good balance between their academic commitments and recreation, and they should make full use of recreation so that it can have positive impact on their
My own personal philosophy of leisure has been shaped by past and present activities I do for leisure and why I do them. To me, leisure is the sense of being free from external stressors that I face in my life such as school or work. The positive outcomes from partaking in leisure are generally overlooked and often underestimated. Leisure affects our emotions, our physical and mental health, and aids in the creation of relationships. In my own personal life, I have done and still participate in leisure as a way to sooth myself or unwind from the stress of school or work. The release of pent up emotions and energy for individuals helps their relationships with others and their overall health as well. When stress is released, an individual is
The purpose of therapeutic recreation is to enable all individuals to achieve quality of life and optimal health through meaningful experiences in recreation and leisure. In this paper the definition of therapeutic recreation will be discussed as well as what should be included in the definition and what should be rejected. This definition will mainly focus on health and use the Health Promotion Model to further explain my choice to focus on health and well-being. I will also be discussing the importance of inclusion in therapeutic recreation for different learning styles in many environments, and the significance of diversity in the community and what we hope to achieve by being fully inclusive.
The Effectiveness of Outdoor Education Provision For this assignment I am going to identify the principles and benefits that outdoor education has to offer. After taking the time to think about what a principle and a benefit is I have come to the conclusion that a principle is the ethnics and morals and a benefit is the outcome and something you gain such as a new skill or completion of a task. People provide outdoor education for many reasons. The principles of a national skills centre are as followed. Ø To increase the level of skills Ø To run courses Ø To train coaches further Ø To allow clients to gain qualifications The benefits of a national skills centre are as followed.

Education can be defined as the systematic development of the mind, capabilities, and/or character through instruction or study. This is also the purpose of education. This purpose is met through the curriculum taught, how the curriculum is taught, and the nature of the curriculum taught. Physical education is just one aspect that should be taught to students.
A recreation center is a basic standard at most universities. The student recreation center at The University of Idaho is a valuable resource for students with both indoor and outdoor activities to suit the needs of many. There are many universities that just supply gyms, nothing more. The University of Idaho has one of the most modern and high-tech facilities in the Pacific Northwest, with attractions like an indoor rock climbing wall and an indoor track. This state-of-the-art facility is available to any student free, and it is even available to the public via membership. Running, maintaining, and gaining a reputation for a student recreation center is vital to a fully functional recreation center. In order to have a successful and functioning student recreation center there are many criteria to meet. Some of the most prevalent and important criteria include: Proper and safe equipment, knowledgeable staff, and a variety of activities and programs for varying student’s interests.

A leisure activity is any activity chosen for pleasure, relaxation, or other emotional satisfaction, typically something one would participate in during free time. The leisure activity I have chosen to partake in is knitting. My great-grandmother was an excellent knitter and would make my whole family scarves and dishcloths when she was alive. She would give them out as Christmas presents, so I want to carry on her tradition. Knitting is a relaxing and simple task, so it is a great way for me to occupy my spare time and escape the stresses of work and school.
