The Recreation Center
Every university has a recreation center because they care about their students’ health and they encourage them to be healthy. Therefore, being healthy is one of the factors that help the people especially collage students to be more organized and focused in their work. Thus, many universities are keen to provide the best recreation they could have, and they care about the students’ opinion about the recreation center. I am going to evaluate some parts of the recreation center of the university of south Alabama, which include the indoor soccer field benches, the swimming pool, the locker room and the parking lots.
First of all, the indoor soccer field or the futsal needs sufficient benches. Therefore, the benches for the subs and the audience or fans are very small and tight. At the same time, the indoor soccer field of the university of south Alabama is one of my favorite fields because its size is sufficient, and I like the shape of the two goals. However, There are many students who come to play or even watch the games but they cannot find a seat. I went to the indoor soccer field three times, and I saw this thing happen two times of the times I went. Moreover, sometimes they stood in front of the glass (there is a wall-glass between the indoor-soccer field and the benches) to watch the match because the location of the benches is not suitable. The seats are just less than the half of the soccer field’s length. Therefore, there is a wall on the left that block the view of the other half of the soccer field. The people who are responsible for the recreation center should be aware of that, and try to provide everything that will make the indoor soccer field appears in a pleasant manner.

...games, the parking lots cannot fit all of the students who want to exercise regularly. I’m one of the students who like to keep myself being healthy and play many kinds of sports, however sometimes when I go to the recreation center I cannot find a park for my car. Therefore, I end up with being in a hookah place instead of the recreation center. They should expand the parking lots to equalize the actual number of the students who are playing at the recreation center regularly.
All in all, the recreation center is a very important place for the collage students to utilize from their free time in a good way. The recreation center needs the above things to be fixed in order to have an integral recreation center such as belchers for the indoor soccer field, lockers room and the parking lots for the whole recreation center and the diving board for the swimming pool.
Moreover, this study reflected recommendations to improve the health of the student-athletes. In addition, the limitations that this study displayed over the athletic training services were mostly related with the lack of staff, and the medical budget offered by the high school. Even that not having athletic trainers represent a liability issue for the school and the school district; based on the data obtained, the study stated that some schools just provided “expenditures levels as low as 10 dollars per athlete” (Valovich McLeod, et al.,
Marion Military Institute is considered to be one of the best schools for preparing cadets who hope to soon enter a Service Academy. The Institution exposes students to the military “way of life”, academically and physically. The particular way MMI prepares cadets is through its rigorous Service Academy Program (SAP), a personalized program by each service academy that is designed to maximize cadet’s competitiveness for earning a United States service academy appointment. The SAP program provides a challenging academic curriculum, which undoubtedly prepares cadets. However, there is one important aspect of preparation that the SAP program does not provide – active sports and clubs available to participate in. At MMI, only four sports are offered to cadets: baseball, basketball, tennis, and wrestling. There could be many more, but the school does not utilize its resources and equipment effectively. Rather, the resources sit in stagnation. The large indoor pool and the attractive stadium that features a usable football field, fresh track, and soccer goals all sit unoccupied, since there are no teams or clubs playing any of these sports. Instead, cadets are sitting in the barracks watching Netflix, listening to music, or sleeping. A year of inactivity in a sport will decrease the cadet’s athletic performance once they reach the service academy. Even Academics suffers. According to extensive research, schools with strong athletic programs have higher test scores and lower drop-out rates. Marion Military Institute has the resources and equipment to implement these sports, but doesn’t understand the cadets’ desire to expand the athletic department. With my proposal that follows, I hope to gain the attention of higher autho...
These small, mostly private schools are spending millions on Football fields, Gyms, indoor and outdoor tracks and student recreation centers. This battle seems almost unnecessary considering almost zero of these athletes will become professionals and in most cases athletics takes away around 20-25 hours of school work time to there student athletes. Looking at the research there seems to be three reasons why schools sell the idea of how a new facility can bring more then a large bill to the school. These points are first recruiting success that leads to athletic success and the enrollment bump in not only the student athletes but also the student population as a whole. Finally how the sch...
College is a time for young people to develop and grow not only in their education, but social aspects as well. One of the biggest social scenes found around college campuses are athletic events, but where would these college sports be without their dedicated athletes? Student athletes get a lot of praise for their achievements on the field, but tend to disregard the work they accomplish in the classroom. Living in a college environment as a student athlete has a great deal of advantages as well as disadvantages that affect education and anti-intellectualism.
The purpose of therapeutic recreation is to enable all individuals to achieve quality of life and optimal health through meaningful experiences in recreation and leisure. In this paper the definition of therapeutic recreation will be discussed as well as what should be included in the definition and what should be rejected. This definition will mainly focus on health and use the Health Promotion Model to further explain my choice to focus on health and well-being. I will also be discussing the importance of inclusion in therapeutic recreation for different learning styles in many environments, and the significance of diversity in the community and what we hope to achieve by being fully inclusive.
As I make my way on this journey that is my life, I realize that I have always believed in the fundamental worth of all humanity and my responsibility as a fellow human being to respect this premise and also to support individuals, as much as I am able, to help unearth it should this basic truth become hidden to them. This is a guiding principle for me and I believe that many of the constructs of the field of Therapeutic Recreation (TR) are congruent with this philosophy. Making the decision to obtain a Therapeutic Recreation Specialization (TRS) degree offered a theoretical rationale in which to further explore the concept of leisure, define my professional philosophy and an opportunity to reflect critically on the field which I have chosen and my evolving role within it.
The concept of college athletics has been around for more than approximately 150 years (Siegel). From the very beginning, college athletics were destined to become a full-fledged, vital part in higher education. Their importance and significance from the start until now is undeniable. College athletics play a valuable role and are beneficial to institutions in ways such as promoting positive character development among athletes, establishing unity from a surplus of people, and supporting college experiences and traditions. These are just a few of their contributions to higher education. Although there are various controversies surrounding these points, they are just some of the reasons that athletics will remain embedded in university life for decades to come.
On 02/02/16 is when I parked my truck in the Blatt parking lot. I would like to start by saying that I paid $100 for a parking pass to park my car. Only to find out that the Blatt PE Center parking lot would be full of people parking for free (with not tickets being issued). Every weekday evening until late at night swimming practice is help at blatt. Along with that comes tons and tons of parents and high school students who need to park their cars. So they all park in the Blatt PE lot. They fill the lot up everyday and even line the rows waiting for students to walk up so they can follow them to their cars and take their spots. There parents and high schoolers are parking in the spots that I have paid to park and they pay nothing. Something
This book can be summed up in one sentence, "understanding the management techniques of sports facilities is imperative for anyone interested in pursuing a career in the sports facility arena."
Sports can help many at- risk youths. In order to participate in sports you need to be committed and willing to work hard. You also have to learn to respect others and accept that winning isn’t the only measure of success. Losing can build character as well. When youth participate in a sports they enjoy, they are less likely to engage in behaviors that are harmful or dangerous to themselves and others. It is for these reasons schools should strive to maintain athletic programs for their students.
1) What area of course content do you believe will be the most useful in your professional career? Why do you believe this? How do you think you think this will be useful?
Opponents of physical education in schools state that gym is not the best way to utilize students’ time. Students’ should be given the choice to participate in gym class or not because many students aren’t as athletic and don’t enjoy it enough to want to do it in school. Despite this downfall, PE is important in students’ life and even though some don’t enjoy it as much, they need it in order to be successful in life. If not, diseases and health risks could come up and it wouldn’t be robust. Ultimately, physical education provides superior benefits.
Sports programs have been an integral part of all schools. They support the academics of the school and therefore foster success in life. These programs are educational and help produce productive citizenship. They help students experience and build skills that may help them in their future, like interpersonal and time management skills. Education may kindle the light of knowledge, but sports help to maintain the proper physique. Sports are also an important means of entertainment and a use for energy after long hours of study. Sports increase a student’s performance not only in the classroom but also in their life.
In the second observation in the unstructured setting and observing, still, 16-18 year old boys and girls we found a change in environment brought about the opportunity to play different sports in the gym rather than the outside turf field. In this observation students were playing frisbee, soccer, basketball, or hockey. The especial focus and observation was on the students playing basketball because of the more likeliness the students were going to jump to catch or shoot a ball. The difference between the boys and girls was that the boys were stronger and faster and more aggressive in carrying the ball down the court. Likewise, the boys ability to maintain light on their toes and push off with their calves gives them the skillfulness to reach
Another possibility is to redo the Union. If I was at a different school, I would say redo the Union. But, I think one of Bethany’s best facilities is the Union we have. There is plenty of room, and is fairly new. Another reason why I would still choose a new sports complex over a new Union is the fact that everybody who comes on campus sees our sports facilities. Many of the people who do visit Bethany College are there for sports activities. Not everyone who comes to the campus goes to the Union. The majority of the people who do see the Union are students, and prospective students.
