Technology has hugely impacted four year college education; most of the four year colleges are now relying a lot on technology. Most of the new technological devices and software’s are changing four year college environment. The main things that technologies added to four year college education are online college applications, educational software’s, online and hybrid courses . Online college applications, educational software’s, online and hybrid courses have advantages and disadvantages in four college education. Four year colleges are requiring students to use technological devices like Smartphone’s, I pads and educational software’s like blackboard. It brings digital inequalities to four year college educations. Uses and ownerships of technology depend on person’s income, gender and ethnicity (Gleason.P.88). Technology definitely has it’s weakness but there many things technology offering that we can benefit for in four year college education.
One of big changes technology made to a four year college education is online application. Online application is used by most of the four colleges around the country. Online applications allow students to upload their application directly to a website. It makes it easier for students to sent applications to colleges. Instead of sending college application through the mail, which takes longer and students have to send applications within enough time before the deadline so the application can get there on time. Online applications can be send within seconds. An online application also allows students to send their applications to multiple colleges at the same time. Bad handwriting and paper getting crumpled isn’t a problem anymore. Online applications also make things easier for the appl...

Technology is a must in today’s digital world. People communicate and interact with friends, family, and colleagues through technology. Community colleges and universities offer online learning. Schools incorporate
Just spending some time in the modern-day classroom; I have observed several students on their phones. During my high school years we did not have to worry about cell phones or laptops being a constant problem. In Annie Murphy Paul’s “You’ll Never Learn!” she explains the studies of multitasking while students do their homework with the modern-day distraction of the digital age; resulting in a lower quality of learning. I agree with Paul that the digital age is becoming a problem in education, even though educators are leaning towards teaching on a digital spectrum. In this essay, I will explain how a digital age versus a non-digital age is effecting everyone involved in a higher education.
Many colleges have failed in achieving the perfect education by the excessive use of technology. Hacker and Dreifus support the use of technology in many cases, such as having interactive question where the software can give the chance to review your work or giving hints to find the right answer (182). Nevertheless, they are completely aware that the use of technology needs to be supported by a good instruction inside the classrooms (183). The University of the Ozarks’ technological resources out of class are a great advantage to improve the learning process in students’ free time. Online discussions, submitting assignments, and taking online tests are the most common online activities for students in this university, this activities challenge the knowledge acquired in class. Moreover, using technology outside the classroom provides the opportunity to use all the class time to go on new topics, to discus, and to answer questions. Nevertheless, the University of the Ozarks is not using all its technological resources appropriately. Most of the classrooms are provided with interactive boards, speakers, and projectors that are hardly ever used. If the university used every technological resource at its maximum, the positive results of learning would
Studies show that nontraditional students over the age of 30 are more likely to succeed in online classes than traditional students because they tend to be more engaged with their courses, have better time management and value exchanges with their peers and instructors (Dibiase & Kidwai, 2010). In a course study at a U.S. university it was found that traditional students logged into class less frequently than nontraditional students, contributed less in class discussions, asked routine rather than substantive questions, but scored equally on assignments (Dibiase & Kidwai, 2010). The study also showed that nontraditional students enrolled in courses they felt would advance their careers while many traditional students only enrolled in courses to fulfill degree requirements (Dibiase & Kidwai,
...the traditional college is in peril. The traditional college is becoming less and is transitioning more towards accelerated online courses. This allows students to even obtain a degree over the Internet. This paper provides information on both sides of the argument and allows the readers to make their own decision after. Depending on your goals and what you want to achieve in the future, you should ask yourself is college really worth the trouble.
When students are deciding on where to go to college, they have the option of choosing between online classes and the traditional classroom classes. Today, some students are finding it much easier to maintain a job, family and start a college career, all by taking online classes. Although some students still prefer to stick with the traditional classroom classes, they still have the option to take online classes. Both online and the traditional classes will provide the educational requirements needed to obtain a college degree and opportunities in the work field. Although the online classes offer just as much as the traditional classes, they are completely different when it comes to teaching methods, course material and time.
Universities and colleges across the country, as well as the world, have one goal. This goal is to educate citizens to the best of their ability. Although they all have the same objective, each of these schools has a different approach from all the others. One aspect of education that is constantly changing is technology. These changes can occur from school to school, or within a specific school. I have chosen to research and compare the different approaches of several universities from both the United States and throughout the world. This paper discusses the schools I have chosen to research, the variety of majors available at these schools, and how technology is presented in the schools.
Many students say they enjoy a hybrid environment more than a traditional college program. The United States Department of Education reported that students, on average, working online, "performed modestly better, on average, than those learning the same material through traditional face-to-face instruction." It also noted "instruction combining online and face-to-face elements had a larger advantage relative to purely face-to-face instruction than did purely online instruction."
In the undergraduate educational setting, student proficiency and comfort with technology are stressed, but the essential mission of most undergraduate institutions (especially, liberal arts institutions such as Dartmouth) is on the development of the individual. The nurturing and supportive environment of most undergraduate institutions helps students mature and develop. The rave and fad of online undergraduate learning causes students to miss out on too many intangibles of an on-campus education. Our current theory on education hasn’t adequately dealt with the intricacies of a web-based education, and therefore the effectiveness of such is highly questionable.
Technology affects every aspect of our lives. From romance to business, it has shown its presence everywhere. But technology has had a huge impact on education that cannot be denied, and has done nothing but improve the quality and quantity of education.

Technology has rapidly changed over the years and has expanded our infrastructure greatly. In particular, as technology advances the education system adapts to the many changes. The world of technology brings about many new improvements and shows no sign of slowing down. Many people spend their day to day lives utilizing the great aspects of technology doing almost anything imaginable. Through technology teachers and students can connect and expound upon the many fields of education. Technology is an ever growing aid in education that has increased awareness, communication, and accessibility. How is technology shaping education? The uses of mobile devices and applications have shown a great influence in the education system.
Student can study online from the recorded lectured, material from the college or university site. Technology just not only provides the standard information in the form of written material, but also gives the audiovisual information. Education providers are shifting from traditional learning methods to virtual learning with the introduction of the technology, including online classes, transferring of data and even students can track their progress on studies online anytime, anywhere which makes equal balance between work and education. Mobile activities are the way that students can be engaged in to fun learning. Mobile device can pull data from anywhere and students express the data in their own way. Student critical thinking improves as, searches for data from different sources online, not only to complete assignment but also to gather information which will be helpful in future in the workplace. Students are highly motivated to use their devices in the classroom to find information relating to studies. Most of the countries are taking their studies to the digital education, as there are thousands of schools in different country which are using books are moving to online library to
Technology in the 21st-century is going to evolve regardless if one is ready for the modifications are not. Higher educational institutions are those who cannot afford to be left behind while technology is changing the world. Technological advances will soon consist of modifying didactic teaching that focuses on student demand as well as changing the classroom dynamic into a more hybrid style of learning. Overall these changes will have a positive effect on higher education. Colleges will need to hold a flexible but distinct style of teaching that will put the interests of the students first. This student-focused priority will eventually promote innovation and creativity.
Some students within society need to have online learning to complete college degrees due to their lifestyles. While it
