Immigration Issues In America Essay

Immigration has always been a huge problem everywhere and it seems like it is only getting worse. Every year, thousands of immigrants try to come into the United States wanting more freedom and better protection from what they receive in their home countries. Although, many immigrants face numerous challenges once they successfully enter the United States. Based on Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s work, “Living in America: Challenges Facing New Immigrants and Refugees,” they talk about the problems that new immigrants experience once they enter the U.S, but also comes up with solutions to fix these complications. There were countless of problems that were listed, but the main issues that immigrants faced included their lack of English, difficulty transitioning to U.S. education, and the lack of health services. According to Johnson’s Foundation, “Immigrants and refugees said that their lack of English proficiency is a barrier to a better life” (Dusenberry/Moore. 286). Due to the lack of English, immigrants experienced trouble creating a connection towards their new environment and have felt overwhelmed

There are many obstacles that prevent immigrants from fully receiving health services and that is a major problem. “Lack of legal status discourages many immigrants and refugees from seeking medical care because they fear they will be turned in” (Dusenberry/Moore. 286). Besides the fact that they are not legal citizens, language barriers are a huge factor that prevents from getting full health services. Many immigrants “cannot effectively communicate with medical professionals when they do seek care nor can they learn about available health programs in their community” (Dusenberry/Moore. 292). There are many ways this issue can be resolved, such as creating Health Care options that can be more affordable and easier for everyone to get a hold
