Over the course of the centuries, citizens as well as non citizens have fought for the Civil Rights of this country in assorted ways, one of which involves immigration. Immigration plays a big role in every country, but most importantly, in the life of those who have a deep insight of the situation itself. We’ve witnessed how immigration has affected families around us, whether it is through friends, relatives or in our community. A current situation in relation to the topic, would be the past elections and the new changes being made in our country. Due to these changes, people with immigration records are losing the opportunities they once received without hesitation. People migrate to a different country aspiring to be someone in this world, despite the consequences and dangers it might bring them. Law changes in our country involving immigration, have made it challenging for families to stay together.
Immigration causes families to split up due to deportation. Nowadays most children are citizens of the US but their parents aren't. At times, parents are afraid to be deported back to where they came from, knowing that they have a family to support and be there for. When this type of thing occurs, families split up and usually have to carry on with the fact that one or even two family members are gone. Some of the affects are that children are then forced into foster care or single parents move on without the support of another well being.
Throughout time mmigration has changed all over the world, it's changed in positive as well as negative ways. In the past it was easier for people to travel to a new country with a few obstacles but now our country is surrounded with a border and patrols, this makes it impossible for others to come into the country without documents or citizenship. Many immigrants face discrimination, racism and more due to their situation. New laws were recently made in order to help underaged immigrants and help them strive. Most of these people usually do the things people with citizenship
Immigration has existed around the world for centuries, decades, and included hundreds of cultures. Tired of poverty, a lack of opportunities, unequal treatment, political corruption, and lacking any choice, many decided to emigrate from their country of birth to seek new opportunities and a new and better life in another country, to settle a future for their families, to work hard and earn a place in life. As the nation of the opportunities, land of the dreams, and because of its foundation of a better, more equal world for all, the United States of America has been a point of hope for many of those people. A lot of nationals around the world have ended their research for a place to call home in the United States of America. By analyzing primary sources and the secondary sources to back up the information, one could find out about what Chinese, Italians, Swedish, and Vietnamese immigrants have experienced in the United States in different time periods from 1865 to 1990.

Migration for “a better life” or to be with one’s family shaped the history of the United States since the beginning. In the US today there are 40 million immigrants and the U.S. Census Bureau estimates that there is around 11 million illegal aliens already living right here and are not authorized to live and work in the United States. It makes it hard to protect their right because they are in this country illegal. Immigrant are living in the US are in constant fear of being deported so they live in quiet hiding so that they go undetected by US officials. They are so fearful of deportation that they don’t report crimes against them or employers that take advantage of them or do not pay them for work.
Therefore, the focus of these enforcement was the massive deportation of undocumented immigrants with removable history on nonexecutable orders of removal. One of the biggest problems that begging to arise during the last decade was that the undocumented immigrants were not able to obtain legal immigration status in the country. Due to this situation, many undocumented immigrants have start their own family bringing children’s and entered marriages, by creating millions of now called "mixed-status" families. The definition of” mixed-status family refer that not all the members of the family share the same immigration status or citizenship. These families include "any combination of legal immigrants, undocumented immigrants, and naturalized citizens."
The United States of America, being a country founded by immigrants, is known all over the world as the land of great opportunities. People from all walks of life travelled across the globe, taking a chance to find a better life for them and their family. Over the years, the population of immigrants has grown immensely, resulting in the currently controversial issue of illegal immigration. Illegal immigrants are the people who have overstayed the time granted on their US, visa or those who have broken the federal law by crossing the border illegally. Matt O’Brien stated in his article “The government thinks that 10.8 million illegal immigrants lived in the country in January 2009, down from a peak of nearly 12 million in 2007.”(Para, 2).
Immigrants leave their countries in search for a better life and improvement of their situation. There is no singular reason for immigration; motivations range from better economic prospects to political safety. As of late, the number of immigrants living in the United States is an estimated 11 million. Those who immigrate are expected to contribute to the United States culturally, politically, and economically. Yet, full assimilation becomes difficult to achieve when the immigrant is made into “the other” by the country of reception.
When it comes to immigration many things comes to a person mind. There are many things that an immigrant faces when he/she decides to migrate to another country. For instance, for an immigrant moving is not an easy thing to do they will have to leave everything behind and start over again in a whole different country than their own native country. At first is going to be hard because they do not know anyone, they do not speak the language. The parents will have to look for a house and also look for a job to support their family and learn how to survive in what seems like a different world. These are some of the problems that immigrants face when coming to the United States.
Illegal immigration has been a problem in the united states for years now. I believe that this has gone on for too long. Millions of Illegals pour into our country every year for the wrong reasons. They find loopholes in our citizenship processes and take full advantage of it, I find it absolutely ridiculous how easy it is for them to come in this country and get the same benefits that hard working American citizens have worked years for. Not all of these Immigrants are here trying to reap the benefits of the American life, but most of them are. Some of them are willing to work hard and try to make something of themselves and start their own American dream I have no problem with that. I like to see when people have to work for something and earn it. I don’t like to see people expect a hand out from someone who has more than them, more than likely that person had to work very hard to get where they are. It makes me sick to see Illegal immigrants come to this country and expect to get something for free. Illegal immigration
Throughout the past centuries, immigration has had many positive and negative impacts on our country and society. Law and order have been the founding cornerstone of our democracy, and the mandate of the U.S. Constitution is for Congress to do the work of the people and that of the nation. Immigration has continuously been a passionate debate within our society. This particular topic will always be a sensitive subject due to Americans personal beliefs and morals.
Immigration has been a part of our nations core for as long as it began. It is in fact one of the ways to become a citizen of the United States. But, a certain period in our nation’s history caused a lot of hardships for certain individuals from certain nations to have that opportunity. Both historians, Ira Berlin and Mae Ngai, refer to major changes in immigration policy when the Johnson-Reed act was replaced in 1965. Since the end of the Johnson Reed Act in 1965, new immigrants are now coming into this country from all over the globe, discovering their own ways on how to contribute to America’s identity, but also dealing with homeland American attitudes about their races.
In an article by David Haugen and Susan Musser, published in 2011, it is stated that, “Obama detailed his vision of how the laws of the United States must operate to fix the broken system. He advocates a "path toward citizenship" for those noncriminal aliens living and working in the country.” Former President, Barrack Obama, defends that, although undocumented immigration is illegal and should be punishable, if the immigrant is working and playing a positive role in the economy, they should be given the feasibility of obtaining American citizenship. During his eight years of serving in office, Obama gained the support of many immigrants and worked toward making America a land of opportunity. Many will lean toward the perspective of Obama because a big population of the U.S. is made up of immigrants, mainly from the bordering country of Mexico. In the same article by David Haugen and Susan Musser, one of the most notable motives for immigration is discussed. The article mentions, “Mexican and Central American immigrants come to the United States because it offers the hope of economic opportunity and, perhaps, a chance to reunite with family members that have already established themselves in the country.” The act of moving to the United States, with or without documentation papers, can sometimes be the only way that a family can remain a union. The deportation of immigrants is a leading cause of broken
Migration is much more than just one person migrating from one country to the other, it is a complex movement that impacts and involves many other people. The Department of Homeland Security estimates that about 700,00 new undocumented immigrants come into the United States each year (2016). Of these 700,00 undocumented immigrants, thousands of families are being separated. Current immigration policies make it very difficult for families to migrate safely together. These immigration policies include deportation and detention centers both of which separate families. The trend that is found is that a parent or both parents migrate first while they save up money to bring their children individually. The highest number of immigrants come from Central American countries mainly, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras. These are the countries that we will be focusing on. The three main themes that this paper will be focusing on will be: Anxiety due to fear of immigration policies, emotional impacts due to familial separation, and educational outcomes of immigrant children.
Immigration poses an ongoing debate in which people are becoming increasingly unsure as to whether immigrants are benefiting their society. This paper will examine three of the main benefits of immigration: the increase in diversity it provides, the rise in skills and labor and the benefits to the economy. Immigration leads to cross-cultural integration, therefore increasing ethnic variety. This increase in diversity is beneficial as it leads to improvements in society, as well as educational development. Increased immigration also means there are more skills and experts available to the hosting countries, as well as extra workers to take up jobs that need filling. Immigration also leads to improvements in the economy as taxes are paid and employment and wages increase.
While immigration for our country is good the ability to become a legal citizen has become insanely hard therefore leading immigrants to illegally cross our border, which negatively impacts our country.
Many migrators move to the united states for a many reasons, yet many parents move for a improved lifestyle and to give their children with the best chance. Then again, a lot of immagrants face many diffulculties after moving to the united states. One issue would be communication barriers and the need of education sometimes forces a family to live in poorness after moving to united states. Some immigrants may not speak English which constrains them from finding decent work or locating housing to support their families. Parents that lack education makes it difficult for them to find a comfortable salary to provide the families with their basic needs of life in the country.
