Imam Abu Hanifah (ra)
The book Qamoos al-alam states: Al-Imam al-azam Abu Hanifa's name was
Numan. His father's name was Thabit. His grandfather's name was Numan,
too. He was the first of the four great imams of the Ahl as-Sunnah Wal
Jama'ah. 'Imam' means 'profoundly learned scholar.' He was one of the
main pillars of the brilliant religion of Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi
Wa Sallam). He was a descendant of a Persian notable. His grandfather
had embraced Islam. He was born in Kufa in 80 (698 A.D.). He was born
early enough to see Anas ibn Malik, 'Abdullah ibn Abi Awfa, Sahl ibn
Sad as-Sa'idi and Abu al-Fadl Amir ibn Wasila, four Sahaabis
(Radi-Allahu ta'ala anhum). He learned 'ilm al-fiqh from Hammad ibn
Abi Sulaiman. He enjoyed the companionship of many notables of the
Tabi'een, and of Imam Ja'far as-Sadiq (Rahimahu Allahu Ta'ala). He
memorized innumerable Ahadith. He was brought up so as to become a
great judge, but he became an imam al-madhhab. He had a superior, and
amazingly keen intellect. In 'ilm al-fiqh, he attained an unequalled
grade in a short time. His name and fame became worldwide.
Yazid ibn 'Amr, Governor of Iraq during the time of Marana ibn
Muhammad, the fourteenth and last Umayyad Halifax, who was a grandson
of Marwaan ibn Hakam (Rahimahu Allahu Ta'ala) and was killed five
years after assuming the caliphate in Egypt in 132 (750 A.D.),
proposed to Abu Hanifa (Rahimahu Allahu Ta'ala) to become a judge for
the law-court of Kufa. But, since he had as much zuhd, taqwa and wara'
as he had knowledge and intellect, he refused it. He was afraid of not
being able to safeguard human rights because of human weaknesses. With

Yazid ibn Harun said, "I studied under a thousand 'ulama'. Among them
I did not see anyone who had as much wara' as Abu Hanifa did or who
was as wise as Abu Hanifa (Rihimahu Allahu Ta'ala)." Muhammad ibn
Yusuf ash-Shafi'i, one of the Damascene 'ulama', praises al-Imam
al-azam Abu Hanifa much, explains his superiority in detail, and says
that he is the leader of all mujtahideen in his book Uqud al-jaman fi
manaqibi'n-Numan. Al-Imam al-azam Abu Hanifa said, "We esteem and love
Rasulullah's ('alaihi 's-salam) Ahadith above all. We search for the
words of the Sahaabat al-kiraam, choose and adopt them. As for the
words of the Tabi’een, they are like our words. Translation from the
book Radd-i Wahhabi ends here. This book was printed in India and in
Istanbul, in 1264 (1848 A.D.) and in 1401 (1981 A.D.), respectively.
The first man, named Abu Bakr, many people believed he was a good candidate because he was an old friend and was one of the first ones to convert to Islam. Yet others believed that Ali Talib was the best choice because he was a cousin and a son-in-law to the prophet. The disputes between the two groups of people would lead to a split; the followers of Abu Bark became the Sunnis and the followers of Ali became the Shia. In the end, the majority of people decided to choose Abu Bark and he became Islam’s first caliph. Abu Bark was Muhammad’s caliph for only two years until he died; even though it was a short period of time, he accomplished big things.

Born in Georgia, the leader of the Nation of Islam was a man named Elijah Muhammad. He has often been portrayed as a saint by his peers, but during World War II, Elijah Muhammad expressed support for Japan, on the basis of its being a nonwhite country, and was jailed for sedition. On August 24, 1946 Muhammad was released from prison in Milan, Michigan. According to the journal named The Black Scholar by Claude Clegg, Muhammad’s time at Milan had done more for him than ever before and after his release, Muhammad had unquestionably become “the premier martyr of the Muslims” (Clegg 49). From his speeches on the radio and in newspapers, Muhammad was also thought of by many people as a fierce man, one of thes...
In a land intended to be dumping grounds for Britain’s moral filth, Reverend Richard Johnson worked hard at laying the foundations of Christianity in Australia. Born in 1757 at Welton, England, he was educated at Magdalen College, Cambridge. He graduated with a BA in 1783, and was appointed a deacon and priest by the Archbishop of Canterbury in 1786. Only five months before the First Fleet set sail, Richard Johnson was recommended and approved for the position of Chaplin, to establish the Church of England in Australia.

Imam Furqan’s interview informed me of the history of the Nation of Islam. Imam Furqan was attracted to the Nation of Islam because of the concepts of unity, morals, and discipline. Also, the Nation was very organized and neat. The Nation gave each individual African-American a sense of identity and strength for his or herself. It told them that they could things totally independent of white people. In addition, he also stated that the Nation had no tolerance for laziness and ignorance. As a result the Nation taught them to work and become

In the Catholic Church, there have been many great canon lawyers who have contributed significantly to the improvement of the Church’s laws. One of those distinguished canonists was Raymond of Peñafort, O.P. who helped Pope Gregory IX compile all the cannons of the Roman Catholic Church into one book. This paper will briefly explore the life of Raymond of Peñafort as well as his contributions to canon law. Raymond was born sometime between 1175 and 1180 A.D. at Vilafranca in Catalonia near Barcelona. He belonged to a well-to-do family that was descended from the counts of Barcelona—who were, in turn, also related to the kings of Aragon.
After browsing through multiple Dalai Lama Teachings I selected the teaching on “Human Rights, Democracy and Freedom”. The Dalai Lama’s message expressed how all human beings natural rights are inclusive and are necessary for our survival regardless of the conflicts or circumstances faced in society. There needs to be a better promotion of human values. The message also stated, in the time of need or difficulty humans need to come together and help each other out in order to “cultivate good human relations”

Muhammad was born in the Mecca in 570 C.E. Mount Hira is one of the many mountains considered sacred by people around the globe (Lecker). “According to Muslim tradition, in 611 C.E. at the age of forty, Muhammad of Mecca received his first revelation of the sacred scripture of Islam from God during a spiritual retreat in a cave on Mount Hira outside the city” (Bakar). Here, the illiterate Prophet was given revelation by the angel Gabriel. In the very first revelation, he received sacred knowledge to understand the unknown – the original act of Creation or cosmogony. Creation refers to the idea that the whole universe is brought into being and sustained by a personal agent, God, who is beyond the universe. Since creation is...
