I Want to Pursue My Graduate Studies

By performing research that creates new understanding, new technologies and the potential for action, my purpose for pursuing graduate school at this phase of my life is to propel my professional presence and career. I believe strongly in the potential of graduate study and research to ameliorate the challenges of society to accelerate growth into new life changing solutions and drive progress in technology, the economy and other areas. A significant proportion of our better health, wealth and general wellbeing whether environmental, cultural, social or spiritual was made possible by the research performed by universities and through the actions of people who were drawing on the benefits of their university education. While some significant research is currently ongoing in the broad spectrum in my country, research in the sensitive area of aerospace and astronautics has been shrouded entirely. Though graduate work can be pursued at any time, I envision this as the first stepping stone and point of contact to addressing the problems of society at the local, national and international level and therefore no further time can be wasted. Having being exposed to research right from my graduation from college at The Energy Center, a research institution for Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, I lucidly understand the relationship between research and development and its underlying impact. Currently, a research project on the Solar Export Potential Study (SEPS) for Ghana has been an eye opener to my latency. This research gave me the opportunity to explore further my abilities in using geographic information systems (GIS) to implement solutions which were crucial to the project. I believe in challenging traditional and con... ... middle of paper ... ...try. I want to be a leading force steering manufacturing in the aviation sector in my country which currently is at a detrimental low. Though some of my ideas may sound wild, I believe everything is possible. I took part in the Urban Lifeline Mapping project at a slum in Ghana. This was crazy and very impossible from many skeptics point of view, but it was accomplished and marked as the first urban mapping of a slum using GIS in the world. Currently, facilities and resources geared towards research in the aeronautics field are lacking in my country and this is the void this graduate program can fill. Being a top notch graduate institution, I believe everything is on course for me to pursue this graduate study to better the conditions in my country. This I will achieve also through the networking opportunities that awaits me at this boisterous graduate institution.
