“What do you want to be when you grow up?” That’s a question almost every child is asked as they travel through the stages of school. As children grow their answers to that question develop as well. Elementary students would tell you that they want to be a superhero, doctor, or maybe even a singer. Then as they transition into their middle school years, their answers become more specific, such as heart doctor, dentist, a lawyer. Finally, when they reach their high school years, they begin to a get a better understanding of where they belong regarding their career. The early college program is designed to be completed in 5 years in order to receive a high school diploma as well as an Associate’s degree. I made it my goal to complete the program in 4 years, earn my high school diploma, and not only receive one Associate’s degree but two. As of right now, I am in my fourth and final year at Early College and will receive two Associate’s degrees along with my high school diploma. I am confident that I will be successful in my desired career choice but I will also have the dedication and work ethic needed to reach my goals.
My ultimate career goal is to become a psychotherapist with my own practice. Although I am unsure what the future holds for me, I will work as hard as possible to ensure that I reach my career goal or become successful in a field of study that I love.
I’ve always been intrigued by the study of the mind and what motivates people to do the things that they do. Over the years, I began researching ways that I can apply my fascination into something that can contribute to society. My findings lead me to Psychology, the study of the mind and behavior. Despite the fact that psychologist and therapist are often portrayed in movies and television shows as useless, I have great faith in the power of therapy and the ways it could benefit
