Malala’s Courageousness for Female Education Many people believe that education is for everyone, however, there is always a group of people that are opposed and want to control things that people can do. For this instance, Malala, a fifteen year old at the time had the mindset of not letting the Taliban bother her. In her biography, I am Malala, by Malala Yousafzai with Christina Lamb, Malala strongly displays her bravery through her speeches and continues to bring awareness even though she knows that the Taliban would come to know and try to stop her. Three significant factors that contribute to Malala’s life are: the support from her father, when she got shot in the head by the Taliban, and moved to Birmingham, England with her family. Malala explained, “‘In my heart I had only the desire to help people. It wasn’t about the awards or the money. I always prayed to god, ‘I want to help people and please help me do that’” (301). Malala did not care for materialistic incentives, she appreciated the little things because those were most important to her. She believed that her speeches were very important because she wanted younger kids to be able to stand up for their rights and to not hold back. As Malala would say, “‘Let us pick up our books and our pens,’... ‘They are our most powerful weapons. One child, one teacher, one book and one pen can change the world’” (310). Malala learned that it did not take a lot of effort to make a change. With determination and her parents’ unconditional support, everyone saw a change for children that were not given a chance to get an equal education.
