Humorous Wedding Roast by a Friend of the Groom
Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen – I'd like to start by saying that what a genuine honor it is to be part of Norman's wedding. I appreciate that I am just one of many equally suitable close friends that he could well have chosen. But I know he looks upon me as the older brother he never had, and I look on him as the younger brother I never wanted.
So here I stand with this great opportunity to reveal to all, Norman’s past misdemeanors. So I could trot out the usual stories; like when he woke up in a football field wearing a red thong and swimming goggles. But instead, I’ve decided to use this time to talk of Norman’s achievements, so you needn’t worry, we’re almost at the end of the speech.
Without doubt his greatest achievement is marrying Janet, who looks absolutely stunning today. You’ve done extremely well Norman, you’ve f...
Ladies and gentlemen, my name is Josh and following the time-honored tradition, I will now do my best to give Roy the most uncomfortable five minutes of his life. For the record, the most uncomfortable five minutes of Joyce's life will be later on this evening, courtesy of Roy.
Good evening. I would like to begin by welcoming each and every one of you to this joyous and stressful occasion.
Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen. It’s surprising just how far some people are prepared to travel for a free lunch. It’s a good job the groom didn't choose the menu, otherwise we would have had penut-butter sandwiches washed down with beer.
Now I was a bit unsure about the duties of a best man, although I told Brian very early on that there was no way I was going to get off with a bridesmaid – I say that with no offence intended to Claire and Nicola who I’m sure you’ll all agree look lovely, and have done a great job today. So to find out what was expected of me, I turned to the internet and managed to find some really interesting stuff… but then remembered what I had gone onto it for in the first place, and set about plagiarising other people’s speeches from all the wedding sites I could find. So I accept no responsibility if this end result is rubbish. I know many of you will have been to a few weddings in your time, so can I suggest that you entertain yourselves quietly by playing wedding bingo – every time you hear a witty comment in my speech that you have already heard at another wedding, give yourself a point and the first one to five wins a piece of wedding cake.
Before the year 1848, most of America was dominated by the male population. The town in “The Lottery” is set in a more modern time than 1848; however, it appears to be completely run by the men. Jackson depicts the men of the town as being official and enterprising; talking of tractors and taxes. The women are portrayed as gossiping housewives wearing faded house dresses and sweaters. Tessie, one of the housewives, was late because she was home washing the dishes. She states to Mrs. Delacroix, “Clean forgot what day it was. Thought my old man was out back stacking wood,” she went on. “And then I looked out the window and the kids were gone, then I remembered it was the twenty-seventh.” She then proceeds to the front of the crowd to be with her husband. Several men, such as Mr. Summers and Mr. Graves play prominent roles in the story, but one man seems to be more outspoken than the rest. Mr. Warner follows a tradition that he has been ...
On behalf of our family, we want to welcome each of you to the wedding today. It is a true testament to Bobo and Twiggy that you have taken time from your busy schedule to come and witness their marriage. I have never seen a more beautiful bride than Twiggy, and my brother looks just plain button busting proud, doesn’t he?
Good afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen - My name is Steve and this is my partner in crime, Scot. We are the best men today, famed for our double act. Some people may even say we were artists, but I think you'll all realize what kind of artists we are later on this evening.
As Father of the Bride, I am honored to be the first to speak this evening. I would like to begin by welcoming each and every one of you on this joyous occasion. It is good to see so many friends and family here today to help celebrate Paula and Manson’s wedding. I would also like to remember those who have meant so much to our family, but could not be here today.
be here with us today. For those of you who don't know me, I have been a friend of the groom's for seven years. He has many special friends, and haying the privilege of being chosen as his best man, from such esteemed company, is an honor the likes of which I have never had bestowed upon me.
Finally, on behalf of the bride and groom I would like to thank everyone for sharing their special day, it is a true millstone - sorry milestone in their lives. On behalf of myself I wish you'd all stayed at home - as things would have been a lot easier on me. I started planning this speech about 5 months ago and I expect you all feel like I've been delivering it equally as long. But now it gives me immense pleasure (not to mention relief) to invite you to all stand and raise your glasses in a toast to John and Angie. To love, laughter and happily ever after. To John and Angie CONGRATULATIONS
Counterfeiting is a 700 billion dollar industry and is being recognized globally as a dangerous economic problem. There is a good chance that the counterfeit item you purchased is helping the production of other counterfeit products or even organized crime. Counterfeiting goes way beyond fashion, it is in every category of product, no matter how real and safe you may think they are. There are counterfeit products in electronics, architecture, motor vehicles, aviation, military, medicine, and the list doesn’t stop there. Counterfeit products can have major safety issues.
Botox is a popular prescription drug that can be injected and used for many medical and cosmetic treatments and is used by individuals all over the world. The application is the most popular cosmetic surgery treatment with more that six million treatments given each year. Botox is used by people who are wanting to look younger, boost their ego, or for social reasons. “Singh, Hankins, Dulku, and Kelly conducted a study focused on the psychological aspects of Botox that showed, Botox subjects had higher expectation scores than worry scores, showing that the decision to get the treatment involves weighing risks and perceived benefits, which was hypothesized by the researchers prior to the study” (Whalen). The drug is used more for psychological reasons than for medical reasons.
Botox is a neurotoxin that paralyzes muscles of the body and cosmetologists use it to prevent or slow down the creation wrinkles. New research is showing that Botox can also decrease migraines (Lipton et al., 2016) and lower feelings of depressions in individuals (Finzi & Rosenthal, 2015). There are some risks to using Botox, such as the toxin spreading throughout the body, but to some the benefits can far outweigh the risks. Zimmer (2008) argues that the use of Botox can make others happier because there is less frowning but does not broach the subject of understanding emotions that accompanies making facial expressions.
Let me first say that the bridesmaids look absolutely smashing today, and only rightly outshone by our bride, Pamela. And, I'm sure you'll agree with me gentlemen, today is a sad day for single men, as another beauty leaves the available list. And ladies, I'm sure you'll agree that today's passing by without much of a ripple.
It's traditional for the best man to let the bride's parents know what sort of a man has married their daughter. In this respect, I might as well start at the beginning, because Steve and I have been through a lot together - in fact, we were just saying earlier how glad we are that none of them have turned up today.
