Similar to other professions and/or social issues, there has been tremendous growth within the history of the human services field. There are different specializations that fall under this professional spectrum such as mental health, social work, and crisis intervention as well as several others. Dating back to the 1700s, individuals have been providing services and resources to those in need. Although each era may has placed different emphasis on specific areas, the general operation still remained the same. For example, the age of systems era and the professionalization of human services era focused on different issues but yet shared collective objectives.
In Human Service practices there are 3 models of service delivery used by professionals. These include the medical model, public health model, and the human service model. Each of these models differs in several ways, although the use of all three interactively, can many times provide the most effective outcomes for clients. Human Service professionals should have knowledge of all 3 models in order to effectively serve each unique individual and his or her specific needs.
The social workers in both videos gathered information regarding each of the client’s issues. Another common denominator in both videos is that both of the social workers repeated what the client had said in their own words to allow the client to feel heard and understood. In the first video, social worker Karen asked direct questions relating to Mike’s alcohol addiction while also addressing how the addiction impacts his relationships including his marriage. What I see as being two of the greatest challenges, for someone working as a human service professional, today - are the following: (1) having adequate places to refer a client to when others services are needed i.e., aftercare, housing, transportation, etc., or having to deal with lack of funds or waiting list due to state cuts and/or lack of staffing which also ties your hands, as a human service professional, when trying to find adequate services to meet the individual/s needs. Another challenge would be (2) keeping safe boundaries between and the client and yourself.
The purpose of this interview is to explore human service professional in their work environment, and observe human service professional in their particular settings, what type of education is required for their position of choice. The human services profession has a variety of populations that they serve; this is a wide array of people. Human service professionals serve populations such as, high-risk mothers who may have shortfalls in education, psychosocial, nutritional, and little or no transportation. Another is the homeless population, lack housing due to being unable to afford, or maintain safe and adequate housing. The elderly is a population that is increasing, there needs range from chronic illness, lack of or little education, mentally, financial, loss of independence, and stereotyping. They serve those diagnose with a chronic illnesses, such illnesses may be diagnoses of , high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, there is also the chronic mentally ill who are consider high risk, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, ADHD(attention deficit hyperactive disorder). These are just a few of the services that a human service professional may work with.
A human service profession can be defined as a holistic and wellness approach that attempts to understand the individuals within the context of their career, love, and relationships, and group interaction from the counseling profession. According to Woodside &McClam(2015, p. 5), human service is derived from six perspectives such as the themes and purpose of human service, the interdisciplinary nature of human service, the helping relationship, management principles, professional and professional activities. These all six aspects are unique needs of individuals, families and communities. In human service work, social workers need to specialized body of knowledge and skill for each practice setting, each special population group, and each psychosocial issue. According to Clubok (As cited in Ed Neukrug, 2000, p. 33) human service knowledge base is derived as much from psychology, guidance, and counseling, nursing. Organizations’ other resources can be hired, retained and discarded at any time but human resources needs special treatment. It needs to be carefully hired, deserve an extra effort to retain it and requires training & development to upgrade and improve its capabilities. Other resources depreciate with the passage of time but when the human resource gains more and more experience, it becomes more beneficial for the organizations. Those characteristics include, a desire to help others, attention to detail, and emotional and mental strengths. A desire to help others is one of the most important characteristics. If a person does not have the desire or want to help others, they would not succeed in this field. Additionally, if the desire to help others is not present, not only with the counselor suffer, but so would the people seeking and needing assistance. It is imperative to possess this quality so that the people in need receive the quality care that they need and deserve. If the counselor does not have this characteristic, then they will be lacking in all other areas. Since counselors and all mental health professionals interact will all types of people, it is necessary that he or she be alert and pay close attention to detail that the client may not divulge. For example, it is hard for an abused child or an abused woman to share all of the details about their abuser. In many cases it is because of fear. Whatever the case may be, it is important that all counselors pay close attention to detail in any situation. It is also very important for the counselors to take care of themselves. Dedicated counselors can get so involved in their work that they can become burnt out. If the mental health professional becomes worn out, it could affect the way in which they interact

We are analyzing the problems within our company that are causing our employees to become unsatisfied with their job. Then we are going to find solutions. And then do the cost estimates of the turnover costs and the turnover savings after our solutions are implemented.
The culture of a human service organization (HSO) impacts the managers, workers, clients, and all entities interactions. Culture is created and influenced by varies aspects and can be positive, negative, or a combination of the two. This paper will discuss the impact of culture and learning within an organization, and how it relates to supervision, personality differences as well as risk and safety as it relates to culture.
From the above descriptions, I conclude that a Support worker should have pleasant personality traits that will enable them to work in an effective way. I further suggest that though we may have unpleasant traits, we should ensure that we maintain a good rapport with patients and our colleagues. All the personalities mentioned above ensure that work done in the line of duty is efficient and effective.
