The duties and responsibilities of a Human Service Professional are so many and, they vary depending on the type settings and services rendered. It could be a private practice, community based programs, government, and even in corporate America, this profession covers so many aspects of humans well being that is nearly impossible to list all of them. The work of the people who chose to this job never ends, although results are not always as we wish for, but continue to work relentlessly until it happens, and it is such a rewarding feeling that fuels our motors to keep making a difference in people's life, community and society. Often times it is more common for people to identify with recipients because they themselves have lived it, and know the struggle, but for people that want to help just out of the kindness of their heart- to me it is pretty impressive. In this profession we must learn early on the value of moral and ethics, because what can be moral in some cultures it might immoral in others, therefore it is imperative to learn the population and culture of the people we serve, and ethics are like the tracks of the train, they are there to avoid derailment. Now based on my readings of chapter four I can identify with the topic about setting boundaries and confidentiality between Human Service Professional and client. This chapter speaks about two very delicate and important concepts, I personally see myself facing the boundaries issue very often, that's due to the fact that I work in the same town where I reside and, many of my clients are people I know or people that know my family members- this sometimes makes it a bit complicate for both the client and myself. I had a situation not long ago where I have to qualify a person for subsidized services, that individual went to high school with my sons, I guess she had the wrong idea as to how I handle myself and the integrity of my work and professionalism. I made sure I explained the program clearly to her, and that she understood I was there to help and to explain her rights and responsibilities, I was pleasant, respectful and very informative about the program, the initial assessment went well, it wasn't until she was up for reassessment of her service need that everything went wrong. It turns out she used services she was not entitled to based on the qualification requirements, therefore she was facing the penalty of paying back to the
