Youth violence affects many people physically and emotionally. It can lead to depression, suicide, drug use/alcohol use, etc. The purpose of this essay is to explain how youth violence affects my life, the things that cause youth violence, and what I can do about youth violence.
Youth violence has affected me in many ways in my life. Three years ago at my elementary school there was this kid who always bullied me and my friends. He had punched me in the stomach, threatened to break my friend's arm, and he had always called us names. I reported it to the teacher immediately because I became sad and I was scared to go to school. Then when the teachers found out what he was doing and after many people reported him he was suspended and got different classes than all the people he had affected when he came back. This taught me that I should report any youth violence or

bullying immediately because the situation I was in could have continued if I had not reported him. What are the causes of youth violence?
There are many causes of youth violence but I chose a few. According to parenting teens.about.com ''Violence in the media can influence your teen and can cause them to act aggressively. A study done by several universities, The Influence of Media Violence on Youth" I believe that youths shouldn't be able to play violent games unless they are mature enough. Another reason youths are violent is peer pressure parenting teens.about.com states ''Peer pressure can cause youth violence when your teen's friends are prone to aggressive behaviors. This could be juvenile delinquent behaviors, risk taking behaviors like drinking alcohol or taking drugs or being part of a social group were being aggressive is part of the normal." Another reason that youth violence happens is child abuse, because if the child is being abused and picked on they might want to act out upon someone so they can get attention because they dont get enough at home the acting out may come out as a form of bullying like picking on someone to make people
laugh. What can I do to stop youth violence? What i did to stop youth violence is to report it to an adult or police. According to http://www.lapdonline.org/ this is ten ways kids can stop youth violence. "1.Settle arguments with words, not fists or weapons. Don't stand around and form an audience. 2.Learn safe routes for walking in the neighborhood, and know good places to seek help. Trust your feelings, and if there's a sense of danger, get away fast. 3.Report any crimes or suspicious actions to the police, school authorities, and parents. Be willing to testify if needed. 4.Don't open the door to anyone you and your parents don't know and trust. 5.Never go anywhere with someone you and your parents don't know and trust. 6.If someone tries to abuse you, say no, get away, and tell a trusted adult. Remember, it's not the victim's fault. 7.Don't use alcohol and other drugs, and stay away from places and people associated with them. 8.Stick with friends who are also against violence and drugs, and stay away from known trouble spots. 9.Get involved to make school safer and better - having poster contests against violence, holding anti-drug rallies, counseling peers, and settling disputes peacefully. If there's no program, help start one! 10.Help younger children learn to avoid being crime victims. Set a good example and volunteer to help with community efforts to stop crime." Therefore, this explains how youth violence affects my life, the things that cause youth violence, and what i can do about youth violence. So remember be against youth violence and report it to an adult as soon as possible.

One reason is there are several stereotypes: sexual/physical abuse, hereditary factors and exposure to violence at home. Second reason that leads to violent behavior is physical neglect by parents. Third reason is juveniles was incarcerated for acts of violence such as: fighting peers or their parents, hitting teachers or instructors, bringing weapon to school to scare his peers and etc. All these come from mistreatment to their children when they was younger. When that happen all children start going crazy and not listening to their parent or anyone that been in their shoes before they was born to even see this happen.
There are many crimes committed by teenagers every year. Crimes that are committed by teens each year are mainly assault, bullying, gang violence, and physical fights. According to National Youth Violence Prevention Resource Center, about 1 and 9 murders are from kids that are under 18 (Center, 2001). In 1998, there were approximately 2,570 among youth aged 10-19. Every day there are at least 7 children murdered in the United States (Center, 2001). Statistics say that between 16%-32% female teenagers have committed a crime before the age of 17. Also 30%-40% male teenagers have committed a violent crime before they turned 17 (Center, 2001). Teenagers that commit crimes are the ones who were abused or bullied as a...

...dolescents to weapons. In many cases children have access to a weapon, particularly a handgun, within their own home. With lack of supervision, children experiment with these dangerous weapons, and may even take them out of their homes. Another contributing factor to violent acts among children is the role of the media and the way that television and movies portray violence. Every where you turn on television and in movies, you see someone killing someone or someone getting killed. Kids see the brutal ways, or the quick and smart schemes of combat tactics. They falsely believe that these types of behaviors are acceptable, because the next week they are back on the show demonstrating another episode of violent acts, with no consequences.
Violence is defined as the intentional use of force to harm a human being. Its outcome is injury (whether physical or psychological, fatal or nonfatal). Violence among teenagers is on the rise, and has been since the early 1980's. In my opinion this is due to the increase of violence in the media, the astounding availability of firearms and the lack of proper guidance in the home. Northeastern University's College of Criminal Justice reports that from 1985 to 1993 murders committed by people over the age of 25 dropped an impressive 20%; meanwhile they increased 65% for people between the ages of 18-24 and an astounding 165% growth for teenagers 14 to 17. According to the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, in 1996, 6548 young people 15-24 years old were victims of homicides. This amounts to an average of 18 youth homicides per day in the US. It also states that homicide is the second leading cause of death for persons 15-24 and is the leading cause of death for African-American and Hispanic youths in this age group. There are a few things that we as Americans can do to stunt this problem, and it starts with the home. By focusing on the home first, we as Americans can drastically reduce the amount of violent crime committed in the US.
Imagine being able to get your hands on a gun in your community with ease when you were younger. Sounds cool right? Well, to some it might and that’s how young children are living in our communities now-a-days. Kids are able to get guns as long as they have parents with guns or the money to buy one. There aren’t enough restrictions on guns & who can get a hold of them on the streets and parents aren’t doing a well enough job of hiding their guns from their children. Something needs to be done. Too many children and young adults are being injured and murdered by something that is supposed to protect them. The ease in which youths are able to possess guns needs to be stopped. The harder it is for kids to get guns, the safer they’ll be.
In conclusion is that there is a lot of that can happen if children is in a violent community whether the children being violated or as just as witness and it have a different kind of effect that the children can have, and my opinion the worst effect is the children is going to become one of the one who do the violation too, because if the children do the violation is the same as the one who do the violation. Besides that all the effect have a big impact to the child, whether moral or physically and the impact will be carries with them until they grow up.
Everyday you witness profound adaptations teenagers set on display. Teens nowadays generally tend to focus more on relationships than education. This is where they go wrong. One of the most common issues that a lot of inner-city teens face in these relationships is violence or some kind of abuse. According to statistics from an article in 2011, 10 to 12 percent of adolescent teens report physical abuse unlike another 33 percent who report any kind of violence. “We all know it exists. What should we do about it,” quoted Bronwen Carroll from Boston Medical Center. She later decided to conduct a study with her colleagues at an ER that funds mostly poor African American children and teens. During this study, researchers surveyed 327 adolescents between the ...
Violent crimes occur for many different reasons. Students who rampaged through the high schools throughout the United States have all said to have one thing in common; their peers did not respect the attackers. These students say they have felt bullied, or not belonging or not fitting in to what the “popular” standards are. So why resort to anger? Many said it feels it gives them the respect that they were deprived of and what they felt they deserved. These students make national and world news headlines, and they feel they have power and control when resorting to violence. Other reasons include drugs and gangs, which are at the top of the list followed by disagreements.
Everyday, a child witnesses an act of violence. Not on television but in their own home. "Family and home are not havens in which a child finds nurturing and safety, but rather a battleground where fear, anxiety, confusion, anger, and disruption are significant threads in the tapestry of home life," Journal of Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Nursing. Children of family violence are often abusers or victims of abuse themselves. Family violence is a cycle that is very hard to stop. A home is supposed to be a safe place where children learn how to love and relate to others. If they are constantly seeing violence in their parent's relationship, then they assume that a normal relationship is also filled with violence. Often, children do not understand why the violence occurs and may be afraid to share their emotions because of fear. They may associate love and pain together, because this is witnessed in their home. This could lead to psychological problems and confusion about relationships. Children who witness family violence tend to have behavioral, interpersonal, and emotional problems.

When children see a violence, they want to imitate for it. After playing violent games, a teenager may lash out, if things do not go on his or her way.
...just playing around as part of their childhood. A while later observe them again and you will see that they have mostly likely grew out of that stage, they are more mature now. They will most likely not be violent anymore, why? That’s because they have grown up. Being violent as youth is part of not being mature enough and being violent because under the influence of a video game? Now that’s not mature at all once you grow up you realize things. Your real life decisions, your behavior, and the way you should act around people so you can fit in. If you act violent that means you still have not grown up, but you eventually will and when you do violent video games will not influence you it will all just be on you. Violent video games do not cause violent youth. Youth act violent by nature and well yeah video games help them a little but it’s just a phase in their lives.
