I would define urgent as a crucial situation that requires immediate attention, typically leading to a resolution of some sort. Important matters also require recognition but in most cases are nowhere near as pressing as the former. I respect the statement Covey made about not answering his phone while eating dinner or spending time with this family. Many people in our society today couldn't be without their phone even for just a second, let alone intentionally not answering unless an emergency situation arises. If someone I care about was to get hurt, that would clearly be considered an urgent, pressing matter that requires immediate attention.
