Introduction This semester in leadership class my big project I completed was the slideshow for the fall sports banquet. I first was asked to work on the project when Mrs. Abbott received an email from Field Kindley High School Booster Club, asking if any students were interested in creating the slideshow for the fall sports banquet. Mrs. Abbott asked the class if anyone was interested in the project, and I agreed. The fall sports banquet slideshow was much more work than I was expecting, but, luckily, the work was just tedious, not difficult. In this paper, you will read about how the project was successfully completed, how I was a leader, and how I displayed my leadership abilities. Summary of Class Typically, in leadership class, I work …show more content…
Abbott received an email from the Field Kindley High School Booster Club who was looking to find any interested students who would create the fall sports banquet slideshow. They needed a student to collect photos from the various sports from the fall and create a slideshow that would be played during the banquet, for parents and students alike. Mrs. Abbott asked the class if anyone was interested, and I decided to make this my big project. Initially, I needed to decide what format I wanted the slideshow to be in. I decided to make the slideshow in Microsoft PowerPoint. PowerPoint was something that I had previously worked with before, and I felt comfortable enough with it that I knew the slideshow would be successful. Through most of the decision-making, I had to email the Booster Club, with Mrs. Abbott being the intermediary through the emails. I emailed Mrs. Conrad, asking her if I would be allowed to access her photo archives, and she said that I was allowed, which was very helpful in the photo process of the slideshow. Over the next few days, I searched through the drive and found many photos that I saw fit for the slideshow. When I was nearing the deadline, I asked Cyp, another student in the class, to find some photos for the soccer section of the slideshow. Cyp accessed the drive and found many photos that I used in the slideshow, this saved me a lot of time, as there were many photos from soccer in the archive. I then began compiling the photos into the …show more content…
I showed leadership in my communication with the Booster Club, something that was not very easy to do. I also showed leadership when I had delegated Cyp to find soccer photos for me in Mrs. Conrad’s archive when I was getting close to the deadline. When I emailed Booster Club, I was able to find what they wanted the slideshow to consist of, and get a basic understanding of how the slideshow would run best at the banquet. I could have requested of my classmates’ help more often, which I should have done, as that would have gotten more work done and better work done on the slideshow. The project did not require much help from my peers, although I could have better delegated
...d I compiled the final product of the PowerPoint which aided in the presentation that we delivered to the class.
Throughout the years of being a student at Council Rock, I have come to the realization of what a true leader is. A leader is not someone that just plans events, collects money, or shows up to meetings. Rather, this is someone that has a true connection with their peers, and has unmatched passion for what they do. With this, I can confidently say that since seventh grade, as a young adult, I have been shaped into an individual that fits these traits. Since that time, I have been involved in student government,
I’ve demonstrated leadership qualities in various ways throughout my time at high school. During the drafting competition, my group needed some confidence and someone there to help guide them to victory, and I was there to help them. A group works together, but sometimes you need a leader. This leader will help facilitate and get the group to do what they’re supposed to do. I think I helped ease off their nerves and I told them to relax and do how we practiced. This paid off because we placed first place and each of us
Involvement in marching band, field hockey, and various other activities has given me many opportunities to show leadership. My first leadership opportunity was in eighth grade when I became a WEB leader. While I was a WEB leader, I helped incoming sixth graders get adjusted to middle school life and find their classes on the first day. I also met up with the sixth graders in my group once a month at lunch and got to know them while I asked how school was going and helped them with any issues they had. In marching band, this past season I was a marching captain for my section. I helped the freshmen learn to march, demonstrated proper marching techniques for others, and gave advice to anyone having trouble with part of our marching show. At the start of field hockey season I showed leadership by helping new players learn to play field hockey by demonstrating how
Being a leader is no simple task. During my Eagle Scout project, I lead a range of people, from adults to youth. It was my job to make sure everyone was working and, that everyone was capable of doing their task. I had many issues doing this throughout my project because I am only one person and I can’t be everywhere at once. Thusly made being a leader a drudgery. But I had an incredible set of adults guiding me along the way, who taught me that being a leader was not doing everything myself, being a leader
I first encountered the significance of leadership in the tenth grade. Berry College the largest campus in the U.S. was in search of school ambassadors to serve part in a seminar known as HOBY. To get chosen you had to write an essay describing your leadership roles, and at that moment I thought that I did not have any. I literally did not know what it meant to be a leader. I had to brainstorm till I remembered going through one of the most difficult times of my life. The lack of understanding the English language became one of my biggest obstacles, and even caused me to repeat a chapter of my life. However, I did not cease; I continued to fight and strove to help others who were susceptible of following my steps. I used my story as an example, and hoped that it would make a difference in someone else’s life.
“On leadership” was written by John W. Gardner (The Free Press, New York, 1990). He used seventeen chapters to explain and describe essential components for the leadership should be in a successful organization. This book not only has significant influence now, but also for the future. Below are my understanding about this book, which was divided into two parts. For the first part, I will pick up some perspectives which influence me most from this book. For the second part, which is my comments and critique about this book.
The leadership is a privilege and it is such a privilege and an honor which will carry the tremendous responsibility which will inspire others to direct them to accomplish goals and vision of the organization. Leadership is about influencing the people, by producing direction, purpose and motivating in order to accomplish the mission, vision and improving the organization. The leadership philosophy is evolved based on the experiences, both positive and negative, in most of the initiatives and activities that we undertake. It is also one among the collaboration and teamwork within which the team members can utilize each other’s strengths to counter the weaknesses of the individuals. By observing, introspecting and experimenting we can developed a leadership paradigm which is inclusive, collaborative and proactive. We can develop the ability to recognize which will approach in order to reach the productive conclusion. The great leaders know their limitations and are capable at utilize their strengths and also the strengths of others to compensate.
This study aims to find the relationship between leadership performance style and project success and to research that whether the project success is influenced by leadership style. According to Belout and Gauvreau (2004), “Nowadays, project management has become a key activity in most modern organizations. Projects usually have a wide variety of objectives, involve numerous internal and external actors, and are conducted in various activity sectors”. Many researchers have agreed that project leadership is one of the most crucial elements of a project’s success. There are many views on leadership and according to Dulewicz and Higgs (2005), leadership has been studied more than any other aspect of human behavior. Higgs (2003) identified six
If a step isn't clear, the user can stop the slideshow and go back to view it again. You can also use a slideshow to share important industry statistics. These statistics can even be used to create a sense of urgency and encourage the viewer to register for your event. One example would be if your company offers martial arts defense classes. You could create a slideshow that explains the crime statistics in your area and upload it to SlideShare.
...more of our time on the making of the skit instead of spending all our time on the power point. So managing our time more wisely would have made the group skit more effective.
For many years, I have been told by teachers, family, and friends that I am a good leader. Until fairly recently, I had never truly thought about what it means to be a good leader and just took it as a compliment. Leadership is an intangible concept which cannot be properly outlined in a dictionary, but one which must be formed and explained only through one’s own philosophies and experiences.
Leadership is trait that is extremely important in any society. Leadership is known as the way people attempting to make a difference in a situation. However, I believe that it is better said to be a way of influencing others actions. Leadership is usually connected to a great leader that affected his or her followers in a dynamic way. Throughout the semester for my leadership class, I have expanded the knowledge in numerous ways. I now have fully understanding of the purpose and process of leadership to a society. Being a leader one must maintain an image of being the role model. I believe that this is leader should be who is someone who has the ability to influence, encourage, listen, and nurture. They are able to inspire, stimulate, persuade, shape, and have an effect on others.
