I was recently in Indonesia for Independence Day, visiting friends. It was an amazing experience to celebrate such an important day for those who live in Indonesia and I was thankful to be able to spend it with my friends. This is my blog about Indonesian’s Independence Day and Australia Day.

Australia Day is celebrated on January 26 and marks the landing of the First Fleet to arrive in Australia on January 26, 1788. Indonesia’s Independence Day celebrates Indonesian independence from the Netherlands on the 17th of August, 1945, after years of struggling for freedom. The colonisations of Australia and Indonesia from Dutch and English settlers are historic events which undeniably vanquished or compressed different native cultures within Australia and Indonesia. The colonisations lead to forced labor, slavery and racial segregation in Indonesian and Australian but without Australia’s and Indonesian’s colonisations, I believe, our economic stability or improvement of modern-day technology, knowledge about art, literature and science would not be as advanced as it is today.
Independence Day and Australia Day is celebrated by the citizens of each country. Pride, support and acceptance are generally displayed on these special day to celebrate the countries difficulties and achievements throughout the years. …show more content…
