When a gymnast is sexually harassed or abused by someone else, then he or she might be too scared to come out and tell someone, due to fear that it will ruin the person or gym’s reputation (Rosen). Not only would the gymnast fear that it may ruin the reputation of the gym or coach, but the gym owners themselves might not tell USAG due to fear that its club may be kicked out. Also, a parent or victim might not tell a person because they have put so much work into the sport that he or she does not want to miss a practice or competition. Also they may think that the police won't take them seriously or if the case. goes to court, they might want to avoid humiliation. It might also be a private matter and people might not want to involve the police, such as sexual abuse within the family. In such incidents as this, the victim and the family won't want to publicise the matter. so that everyone is aware of it.
Also being abused and letting someone know maybe embarrassing. The level of hurt that can come from ignoring a sexual assault and that it actually happened can affect someone negatively. It can even get them to thinking bad about themselves and it can turn to the worse fast. There were many flaw’s/fallacies that were committed pertaining to these sexual assaults on campus.
Sexual assault is an under-reported crime. It is difficult for women to report sexual abuse but it is far more difficult for men. For males, it is exponentially more difficult to report such crimes, thus making it more difficult for victim advocates to present an environment where victims feel comfortable coming forward to report sex crimes. To this end, according to RAINN (2009) male victims of sex related crimes may find it easier to make a first report anonymously, giving them the opportunity to speak to an objective list, specifically trained to address specific and complex emotional issues related to this crime.

There are many forms of physical abuse, such as, slapping, hitting, strangling, beating, kicking and sexual abuse. In many cases objects being thrown at a child that can injure them. Many times, physical abuse goes undiscovered because children tend to hurt themselves all the time anyway. Children get abused physically. They are hit, torchured, and burned. And the parent or guardian keep this a secret because the child is too scared to tell anyone because he or she thinks they’ll be more abused. Children are treated unfairly when they are abused. As a result the children end up getting beaten for reason that weren’t such a big deal.

Women have faced a lot in our society today. They are a vulnerable population that are faced with many challenges. Women have been victims of injustice in our society for many years. To make the issue worsen, women are also victims of sexual misconduct. Sexual misconduct occurs in school settings but there are things that we can do to help individuals and help people from all the schools.
Americans take pride in their sporting activities; be it the endeavors of American football or even the gentleman’s game, golf. What a majority of individuals do not know is that many players, especially rookies, are subjected to incidents of bullying and hazing. These incidents are thought to be a ceremonial act of welcoming to signify one’s readiness for being part of the group. In the mainstream media and for most of society, bullying and hazing are signs of exerting authority and seeking to enforce one’s influence over others. It is never the right thing to do considering it reeks of insensitivity, an outright condescending attitude, and thinly veiled hate and distaste. Bullying is not a new phenomenon in American society. In fact, a majority of institutions have reported numerous cases of bullying and hazing. If left unchecked, these activities are self-damaging and do serious and severe harm to the victims at whom these acts are targeting. The question that arises among all these arguments is whether American institutions are doing enough to curb this vice and protect innocent individuals who fall victim to such acts. Recent incidents in American culture have proven that bullying and hazing have escalated from a form of initiation that upholds tradition, to a malicious form of personalized bullying that needs dire attention.
