I have recently read a very good book that has impacted my life in a very positive way. A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks made me look at life in such a different way. The book was so well written and had such a good plot line that I had no choice but to become more and more intrigued with it. This books hits the reader in such an emotional way and causes them to think about life differently. No other book has impacted me as much as this book has after reading it, I became a changed person. In the book, A Walk to Remember, two high school students who have known each other their whole lives start to become very close. Landon Carter was a boy who had always thought of Jamie Sullivan as a weird and lonely girl. When Landon was forced to …show more content…
Growing up, I always had my mom and dad beside my side. I was blessed with such a great childhood that I had no idea how much I was taking it for granted. I knew that death was inevitable and that anyone could be taken away in a blink of an eye, but I never really thought that it could happen to me. After reading the book, my eyes opened and everything became so clear. I now see the glass half full. There are so many things in my life that I am thankful for and I now know it. I have something that some kids would kill to have. That thing is family. My family supports me through thick and thin and they are always there for me no matter what. My parents raised me and provided for me in the best way possible, and I honestly can not thank them enough. They always put me first in every decision they made. If I was sick, they cared for me. If I was sad, they comforted me. I can not imagine what kind of person I would be if I had never read A Walk to Remember, and I would have never realized just how blessed I actually am. It is truly an amazing book, and I really recommend it to anyone who is willing to sit down and take the time to read
I always looked at death as such a sad thing that is eventually going to occur to everyone. However, after reading this book, it made me realize death can actually be a beautiful thing. Death allows a person to go to a next life, one where they will be loved and others will be there for them. It was interesting to be able to read about stories that these hospice care workers witnessed themselves. I have experienced a few deaths within my life and I never coped with them very well. After reading this book, I honestly believe I will be able to look at the positive side of death and be able to deal with my emotions better. I can also help others surrounding me deal with a death that they are experiencing. This book was filled with information that I loved learning. For example, I never knew that a dying person can choose a time to die. The thought of this never occurred to me before. I always thought that when it was someone’s time to go, they had no choice. But, a dying person can “put off” passing on until they see a certain person or event that has great significance in their life. Nevertheless, there are still people who will wait to die until they’re all alone in the room. This book makes you think of real life situations and think what you would do in them. Taken as a whole, it was a very in depth book that changes the way you would naturally perceive
I loved this book, it is so incredibly moving and you want to cry and
Although this book had no major affect on me, I learned how a boy can go through traumatic experiences and still have the will power to keep going on. That was the only thing that really affected me in the whole book.
There is one book that can, and does affect everyone that reads is The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck. John Steinbeck is a very interesting person, and one that did not even graduate from college. New York seems to be the city of new beginnings and for Steinbeck it was just what he needed. He got a big reality check when he tried to become a free lance writer and that did not work out the way he had hoped it would. He then went back to California and published both short stories and novels. Steinbeck got heavily critiqued on his first novels and considers his best work The Grapes of Wrath by far. Since this was such a successful novel and one that needed to be shared with more people they made a movie based on the book, but left out some key parts at the end of the novel. They left out these last chapters because of some key reasons and when you read the book you begin to understand why they could not have put these words into a picture. John Steinbeck creates a picture and feeling at the end of the novel that is almost unbearable to read and leaves you with a feeling of dread but, that is what The Grapes of Wrath is all about.
Most books try to leave you with something good right? Everyone dies, but in this book it is a little different. In the middle of discouragement there is a spark of hope.
Personally, the book of Ecclesiastes resonated with me and was a turning point in my life. It introduced the idea to me that since the beginning of man nothing has changed. Our problems and struggles were the same that Abraham or Moses faced. These simple, yet profound, words of the book spoke directly to my ego and confirmed that my struggles in life were not unique. Ecclesiastes was the book that started my journey with Jesus. Similarly, the testimony of the sufferers that these two books provide is one that has a great impact on the modern day
Everyone takes death differently and in this book, the characters show that it isn't overlooked and it affects

The movie A Walk to Remember is a 2002 romantic drama film. The movie is set in North Carolina and begins with a rebellious teen named Landon and his friends getting caught on school property drinking and bullying another classmate. The boys end up injuring the students after a lousy prank they played on the boy. The principal gives Landon the option to be expelled from school or to allow him to tutor other classmates and join the school play as his punishment. Landon takes the principals offer and begins rehearsing for the play. Then Landon meets Jamie a girl who has gone to school with him since kindergarten. However, Landon was one of the cool kids in school, and Jamie was known as a geek. Jamie was very quiet and did
The movie that I chose for this paper was Minority Report. Minority Report is about a policeman who uses technology to be able to stop crimes, particularly murders, from happening. The technology is then turned against him as he is sought for committing a future murder (Minority Report, 2002). The first of the two scenes I will talk about which correlates to information from this class is the main open scene.
The book that has influenced me greatly over these years is The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. Its a book that has guided me through times of peril and has kept me headstrong through convoluted situations. The novel tells the tale of Santiago, a boy who has a dream and the courage to follow it. After listening to "the signs" the boy ventures in his personal, Ulysses-like journey of exploration and self-discovery, symbolically searching for a hidden treasure located near the pyramids in Egypt.
The Harry Potter series has impacted my life directly; it was the reason I developed my passion for reading, and it opened my eyes to the real world with regard to adults and telling the truth. It also influenced me indirectly; by making me aware of the importance of a solid reputation. My hope is that everyone has something that changed them in the way that Harry Potter has changed my life, and helped turn me into the young man I am today.
I am grateful for my life in many ways and for many reason, I was born 5 weeks premature and one of twins. Though my twin did not survive long enough for me to know him it gave me a purpose to try new things. Whenever I am scared of a new experience such as snow-boarding I think about how lucky I am to be alive and well. This thought helps me to spread my wings and embrace the unknown. Even simple things make me feel thankful, such as running in the rain or taking a walk with my dog or just a lazy Sunday afternoon with myself makes me think how great it is to be alive and here. I have always delight in the small moments in life and to think that they could never exist for me is depressing. Furthermore, being able to share my thoughts and feeling with people I love is something that brings me great joy.
Periodically while surfing the internet I encounter a page entitled "Books That Changed My Life", with a list of books that purportedly changed the life of the author. I am always irritated by these pages, because I never see any evidence that the books had actually changed the life of the author. In fact, for most of these pages a more appropriate title would have been "Books that I really, really liked a lot." Occasionally, it might have been called "Books that influenced my thinking," but I'm reluctant to refer to that as having changed one's life.
