I am grateful for my life in many ways and for many reason, I was born 5 weeks premature and one of twins. Though my twin did not survive long enough for me to know him it gave me a purpose to try new things. Whenever I am scared of a new experience such as snow-boarding I think about how lucky I am to be alive and well. This thought helps me to spread my wings and embrace the unknown. Even simple things make me feel thankful, such as running in the rain or taking a walk with my dog or just a lazy Sunday afternoon with myself makes me think how great it is to be alive and here. I have always delight in the small moments in life and to think that they could never exist for me is depressing. Furthermore, being able to share my thoughts and feeling with people I love is something that brings me great joy. …show more content…
Giving back to the community and aiding in the growth of young athletes makes me feel grateful for the fact that I can be there to support them. If I was not around I would not have been able to see my brother graduate and become a marine. Neither could I have traveled to Hong Kong and experienced my mum’s family kindness and generosity. If my family had decided to stay in Wales and not immigrate to America, I would not be able to enjoy the California beaches that I have come to adore. Being alive is one of the greatest gifts and the choices that I have made I do not regret. Fore without them I would not have come to know my friends, extended family and athletes that are now in my life. I accept all the ups and downs that come with the life I live because without the bad it is hard to tell what is good with the world. Sometimes a scraped knee or a bad performance is just what a person needs to remind them just how great the rest of their life
I am proud of my family, they have done their best to give the community with the best team that they could put together. It was also our hopes that those among us understood our purpose (omit) to give second chances to athletes, to showcase their talents, give another mean for them to reach out for their own success.
The very small percentage of athletes that can make a living off of a sport that they love to do, is a very special thing. The phenomenal athletes that can make that happen are role models for children, teens, and some adults. Sports enthusiasts will quote things from the best leaders, motivators and competitors to share with their children, students, colleagues, and fellow athletes. Being a three sport athlete has given me the full experience of being around those tremendous athletes. I thoroughly enjoy playing sports, I have since I was a little boy, and sports are a huge part of my family. At all family gatherings after we eat, have fun outside, we gather around the table or the television to either talk of sports or
The qualities I have developed on the tennis team have helped me become a better team member and individual. I now find myself volunteering more in my community to provide an example of never giving up and with the realization that someone is always there to help when you need help. Every day I am reminded that I could have given up. But I didn’t and that is what made me a stronger person to go forth and fulfill my dreams and
I knew that joining the team in my junior year of school meant that I would never be the best at it, but I would try my hardest regardless of that. Being part of the team gave me something to work on everyday aside from school work. Each day, whether during practice, or a competition, I was constantly faced with different challenges to overcome, both physical or mental. These challenges helped me to grow as an individual and as a member of the team. One of my biggest accomplishments through swim was becoming a NYSPHSAA Scholar Athlete my senior year. Other experiences, such as work and travel have also shaped me as person. Working, and earning money has taught me a great deal about money management as I save up for college, and has given me a look into the responsibilities of a working individual. Working has taught me the importance of communication and networking inside and outside the work space. As for traveling, taking a trip to Spain and France my senior year truly broadened my horizons. It was an amazing opportunity to grow and learn about the rich culture these countries possess; it also has made me begin to think seriously about opportunities to study abroad during my time at
The first and most important thing I am thankful for, is my family. Whenever I need advice from an experienced person in life, I can always look to my grandpas or grandmas. I’m also thankful for they love that my parents give to me, even now. Whenever my parents need ideas for a party, or
My commitment and motivation to pursue master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy is based on the extensive experiences that I have gained in human services in the past 2 years. Since long I have always held the belief that the application of psychological principles has the power to positively impact society. And I especially believe in its power to help children cope with the stresses and events of everyday life. My own life is a testament to this belief.
People have different meanings and explanations on how to live a well and happy life. Some may say living a great life is to be successful, having a family and all the materials you want in life. others might argue and say that a great life or living a better life is not always about having or seeking the best materials in life, but helping those that are around you, feeding the hungry, clothing the poor in other words taking care of the people or benefitting the least well off. However, if we keep asking people about a well lived life, we will get as many answers as possibly. Growing up religiously, we were told a well lived life is a life measured by love and joy and by how helpful you were to the elders. In the Catholic Intellectual class, this was a hot topic that was discussed with the help of the following works: Plato’s Allegory of the Cave, from Book 7 of The Republic; Books One & Two of Aristotle’s Ethics; Exodus Chapter 19-20 (The Ten Commandments) and The Gospel of Matthew (with emphasis on the Beatitudes and the Corporal Works of Mercy); and Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians, Chapter 13 (on love). These wise writers had a different view on what constituted a well lived life, what made the human beings lead a happy life and what was the meaning and purpose of life. The ancient
...hit with being on my own for the first time, being in a new city and being in college rather than high school, I was able to stay in a comfortable place while I made the transition to college. I am so thankful that I have my family, because without them, none of these things would have been possible at all. It is very easy to say that the decisions they made for me as a young child shaped my values as well as my self concept. All three of the concepts that I chose intertwine in some way. My primary group is what virtually started my value system. And without being brought up the way that I was by my parents, I would have never had the same concept of self. They have always built me up instead of tearing me down which is vital in a child's as well as an adult's life. I really am thankful for where I'm at and it's rather interesting to see how far I've come to get here.
In life, a person experiences different types of situations that bring forth certain emotions and behaviors. Oftentimes, it benefits people if they try to look inside themselves to discover why they act a certain way during various moments of their lives. In this essay, I will be investigating my own reactions to life events and discovering certain positive elements that should be encouraged or any negative aspects of my behavior that need to be changed.
However, I always manage to make time for giving back to the community. I think the best way I dedicate my time to the community is all the sports I’ve been involved in. This involvement has made me a caring and strong induvial, which is what the community needs when it comes to citizens. All my sports have many charity games and funraziers which I was involved in. I’ve helped raise money for cancer, suicide prevention, and multiple sclerosis, along with volunteering for the Humane Society.
What is the best thing you can do for one another? I have always thought it is to lead them to Christ; the second best thing you could do is heal them. With either action, you are helping to make another person whole. The gift of life is precious and finite; so imagine what goes into making the people- apart from God- who hold it. There is a reason physicians go through years of education, internships, residencies, and fellowships. If it was easy, anyone could become one. But not everyone does, because it takes a special calling.
For this, I’m grateful my parents pushed me even if it went against my wishes because I would not have the friends I have today without soccer and it built many connections that I hold close to my heart. Soccer didn’t only lead me to the friends I hang out with during lunch, but it also opened up my comfort zone to other activities like golf. The summer of junior year I found out some of my friends from soccer decided they wanted to try out golf so I thought why not? Playing golf my junior and senior year didn’t only open up my skills to a new sport, but it also led to some great memories.
Some people are not thankful for what they have, but I am because I realize how blessed and lucky I am because some kids don't have as many things to be thankful about. One thing I am thankful for is my family, my family is the most supportive and loving family ever. Another thing I am thankful for is technology, technology can be the most entertaining thing and sometimes it takes your emotions and pains away. Finally I am thankful for is sports because most of the time I go outside after school and play basketball with my friends or sometimes by myself, but sometimes it helps me get my mind off of things.
Hi, my name is Rob Geis and I am currently in grade 12. I have been at County High School for a year now; I joined at the start of 11th grade, and have thoroughly enjoyed myself here. The school is great, the people are fantastic and the atmosphere is one that makes you actually want to go to school. Before I joined ASB I was studying at the Singapore American School for two years and prior to that I was at the International School of Kuala Lumpur for two years. I was born and raised here in Bombay city and grew up here.
I have made many achievements in my life. I am happy to be such an achiever at things. I remember my first achievement which was in kindergarten. In kindergarten I got on the honor roll for the first time. I was so happy, but I was just happy because my mom was happy. I didn’t even know what honor roll meant, but I finally founded out that is meant that I got all A’s. My mom was so happy for me, and I got lot of money for my A’s. After that my next achievement was that I learn how to ride a bike. When I first started to ride a bike with no training wheels I kept on falling. After I kept falling I didn’t want to learn anymore, but I saw that my little cousin was riding a bike, so I just had to learn how to ride a bike. Finally, after all the sores and burses, I learned how to ride a bike. I still fall every now and then.
