Giraffes
Did you know thousands of years ago giraffes did not only live in Africa, but they also lived in North America? We do not see these species in North America anymore because they all died because of their inability to adapt. Giraffes adapted into their environment because the food they were eating was on taller trees and after a while, only the selection with longer necks were left. The giraffes we see today, have longer necks because they are the ones that survived by adapting. As all other animals, giraffes are living things because they get energy, move and grow, reproduce, protect themselves, and adapt to their environment.
Getting Energy Giraffes are herbivores, which means they eat leaves and plants. They can reach leaves and

They are one of the world’s tallest mammals and just their legs alone are taller than many humans, at about six feet tall. Their body length is about 9.75 to 15 feet long. When a giraffe baby is born, it weighs about 150 pounds and is six feet tall. They grow very quickly and within their first year of living, they can double their height. Grown male giraffes can weigh up to 3,000 pounds and about 18 feet tall. Grown female giraffes can grow up to 14 feet tall and weigh up to 1,500 pounds. In conclusion, giraffes have a complex way of walking and they are very large in both weight and height.
Reproduction
Giraffes do not have a certain mating time, but they usually are ready to mate during the spring time. They like this time because they have more food and they are less stressed out. Male giraffes are usually ready to mate when they are about seven years old. Female giraffes are usually ready to mate when they are approximately four years old. The males taste the female’s urine in order to see which ones are ready to mate. After conception, it takes about 15 months for a calf to be born.

Their long necks make it easy for them to reach the vegetation on the treetops and it helps them spot predators from far away. Their necks are about six feet long, it weighs about 600 pounds, and it has six vertebrae. They have horns on their head that grows to about five inches long, which protects the giraffes when they are fighting enemies. Giraffes have very good vision, hearing, and a great sense of smell. In conclusion, giraffes can adapt to their environment by their heart, tongue, legs, neck, horns, senses, and more.
Conclusion
In conclusion, giraffes depend on the food they consume and the water they drink to get energy. They use this energy for movement and growth. Once they are grown and reach maturity, they can reproduce one calf as early as four years old. Giraffes use their camouflage and height advantage for protection. Also, they rely on their heart, tongue, legs, neck, horns, and senses to help them adapt. As all creatures that are part of the Animal Kingdom, all of these five abilities help giraffes to survive in their
The text “The Domesticity of Giraffes” is a poem written by Judith Beveridge. It is based upon the concept of caging animals, specifically giraffes, and the negative effects of keeping animals in captivity.

First of all, in The Giraffe, people want to harm the tall animal because it creates an uncomfortable atmosphere, which can be seen through the reactions of many characters. As a result, everyone, except the boys, misunderstands the habits of the giraffe, and wants to kill it at the end. One clear example of a negative reaction to the presence of the giraffe can be shown through the police officer’s reaction to the presence of the giraffe: “[…] the policeman who came and said, ‘if you don’t take it away, I’ll kill it with my revolver’ (Senesi 3).” The officer of the law looks upon the giraffe from Africa as if it is a criminal. Since the ...
I chose to study the behaviors of the Spider monkey and the Sifaka. I chose them for a few reasons, one being that Spider monkeys are incredibly adorable and two Sifaka’s remind me of a childhood television show, Zoboomafoo. These two primate groups also struck my attention in class, so this project was a perfect opportunity to dig a little deeper. The behaviors I chose to observe were social interactions and locomotion. The biggest differences I noticed between the two primates were that the Spider monkeys have the prehensile tails and without exerting extra energy is able to engage in a few common locomotion patterns such as quadrupedal, suspensory and bipedalisim. Where as Sifaka’s lack a tail, and remain upright at all times, and the only way they don’t waste energy moving around is to jump through the trees. They both hangout in troops, eat similar things and mainly live up high in the trees-- but Spider monkeys care for their own young for up to a year while the Sifaka’s usually engage in non-maternal infant care.
Newborns are dappled gray-brown, white spots come with age#. At birth, the calves are about 5 feet long and 180 pounds. Male Narwhals can reach 16 feet long, not including the horn which is 8 to 9 feet long, and weigh around 3000 pounds. Females are around 13 ft. long, do not have tusks, and weigh around 2000 pounds. Adult males and females are usually dark in the area of the head, especially top of the head and upper and lower jaws.

Lions have relatively short-legged, long, muscular bodies and large heads. The male grows on average to 1.7 to 2.5 m (5.6 to 8.2 ft) long, not including the tail, which is 90 to 105 cm (36 to 41 in) in length. It stands 1.23 m (4 ft) high at the shoulder, and it weighs 150 to 250 kg (330 to 550 lb). The mane, which covers the head and neck, sometimes extends to the shoulders and belly. The mane will vary in color and length; well-fed, healthy lions have longer, fuller manes. Females are smaller but equally muscular. Lions vary in color from golden to brown. The mane of a male lion will vary from black to yellow. Both sexes have retractable claws to keep them sharp when they are needed. Lions have wide powerful jaws. The lions roar, which can be heard by humans up to 9 (5.6 miles) kilometers away, is usually uttered before the animals hunt in the evening, after a successful hunt, and again in the early morning.
People who give their lives to the community, often live longer and healthier lives. The Giraffe Award is an award given to individuals who stick their necks out for the common good. To receive this award, one must take on significant personal risks, act out of caring for others, and act above and beyond the call of duty. Betty Washington earns this year’s Giraffe Award because she took significant personal risks, acted out of caring for others, and performed above and beyond the call of duty.
The Giraffe award was started in 1984 by a woman named Ann Medlock. The award isn't just any given award either. The Giraffe Award is an award given to one person who “sticks their neck out for the common good” and do good deeds for their community and other people. There is five main criteria that it takes to be a Giraffe. First, a Giraffe is someone who acts out in caring. Next, they must go above and beyond their duties and job description. Equally important, their doings must be ultimately healing, and not decisive. After that, they might as well rock the boat, or in others words cause problems for themselves just to make good for others. Most important of all, Giraffes must take risks whether it is a social, financial, or physical risk.
Ginkgo can grow to be 20 to 30 meters in height and 9 meters wide with a trunk size up to 4 meters.
MATING: Siberian tigers mate in winter months and following a 3-5 month gestation period, the female produces 3-4 cubs. Cubs weigh just over 2 pounds each and are born blind. The small litter of cubs stay close to their mother for the first 8 weeks of life. By 18 months, the young are capable of hunting on their own. Young stay with their mother for 2 years, at which time they leave the pact and travel solo. The life span of the Siberian tiger is 15 years in the wild, and significantly longer in captivity.

The fossil record of horses extends back to an odd-toed ungulate mammal belonging to the taxonomic family Equidae, a dog-like ancestor 55 to 42 million years ago in the genus Hyracotherium in North America. Hyracotherium had a primitively little face , four-toed forefeet, three-toed hind feet, an arched back, small brain, and higher hindquarters than forehand. Later genus has increased in body size, brain complexity, the size of cheek teeth, lengthening of the face, and reduction of toe number. However, even though horses got larger over time but these trends are not seen in all of the horse lines. Genus such as Hipparion existed from 23 to 2 million years ago, showed gains in size, But some later genus such as Archeohippus, and Calippus got smaller again (Boundless, 2016),(Encyclopedia of Life,2015), (equineworld.co.uk, 2014), (Molen, M.
