How Football Changed My Life

Going into 9th grade I was just like any other eighth grader and I was still trying to figure out who I wanted to be and what I wanted to do with my life and in school. That summer before ninth grade I thought long and hard whether or not I would play football in ninth grade, I had played the year previously, but I had not really found a sure position that I played and I was unsure whether I was cut out for football or not. I never skipped a practice or event, because I wasn’t “feeling it” and I think this type of commitment shows the type of person I am and how I would fit well into Penn State, as college is a large commitment and the classwork requires many hours of my time. I also believe that my hardworking and time-management skills shown through my athletics can be applied to my success at Penn State. I was never the most athletically gifted or skilled player in either of my sports, but through vigorous work in the season and the offseason I’ve turned into a key starter in both sports and this is something I’m very proud of, I also apply this hardworking attitude in the classroom as I’ve still maintain over a 4.0 GPA to date and this has taken a lot of energy and effort and I believe this is a valuable skill that I can apply to Penn State. The last characteristic I want to talk about is time-management, even with many hours put into my athletics I’ve also found time for school work and my grades reflect that, I believe that this will help me at Penn State, because college is a lot of responsibility and I believe with my stout time-management I can easily handle
