When I sought out what it is used for I was amazed. The first things that I found it is used for made sense. Low melting solder, fusible alloys and fire sprinkler systems (Bismuth). Those make a lot of sense. However, it’s the next items that will surprise you. Pepto Bismol, gets its name from Bismuth. Some cosmetics, the coloration in glass, hair coloring dyes and is also found in hemorrhoid creams (Bismuth,
Cherly James and Sandy Denton better known as Salt 'N Pepa are one of the most known female groups ever. These two women were able to create music that spoke about sex, men, and other issues that most women were not. One of their hit songs "Push It" changed the game for females in the music industry. "Push It" was nominated for a Grammy in 1985, but Salt 'N Pepa boycotted the show when the rap categoru wasn't televised (Rollingstone)." This was something that was not suprising back then and even today because of the way that female artist are acknowleged. Many of the female artists back then were overlooked because of the way females were seen in the rap industry. In this essay I will go into detail about Salt 'N Pepa's music career, the

Barium is a soft, heavy, silver-colored metal element. This element does not have very many uses outside of the laboratory, but it combines easily with other chemicals to form compounds used for important industrial uses. For example, Barium carbonate is used in the manufacture of ceramics and special glass, and also to purify certain chemical solutions. It is also an ingredient in clay slurries, also known as water muds, used in drilling oil wells. Barium titanate is used in sonar detectors and other electrical equipment. At low doses, barium acts as a muscle stimulant and at higher doses affects the nervous system eventually leading to paralysis. Acute and subchronic oral doses of barium cause vomiting and diarrhea, followed by decreased heart rate and elevated blood pressure. Higher doses result in cardiac irregularities, weakness, tremors, anxiety, and dyspnea. A drop in serum potassium may account for some of the symptoms. Death can occur from cardiac and respiratory failure. Acute doses around 0.8 grams can be fatal to humans. Barium nitrate makes signal flares burn with a green flame. Barium ferrite is used to make magnets. Barium sulfate is an extremely insoluble barium compound that is not poisonous. Doctors use it in X-ray examinations of a patient's digestive system. The barium sulfate absorbs X rays to show an outline of the intestines on the developed film. A barium enema is performed to examine the walls of the colon. During the procedure, a well lubricated enema tube is inserted gently into the rectum. The barium is then allowed to flow into the colon. The flow of the barium is monitored by the health care provider on an X-ray fluoroscope screen. The test is used to detect colon cancer. The barium enema may also be used to diagnose and evaluate the extent of inflammatory bowel diseases. Barium sulfate and zinc sulfide form lithopone, a white coloring matter for paint. Barium is never found in a pure state because it combines so easily with other elements. Pure barium is obtained by passing an electric current through a fused barium compound, such as barium chloride. A piece of barium metal quickly reacts with oxygen and water vapor in the air to form barium oxide. It must be stored under kerosene to keep it pure. Barium is found most often as barium sulfate in the mineral barite. The chemical symbol for barium is Ba.
During the 1900's, the McNeil company developed and established Tylenol into a well known and recommended analgesic. It has become recognized world wide as a safe brand of acetaminophen. The name Tylenol has become identified as a trusted, safe drug that people can easily purchase over the counter for their ailments. Tylenol is still recommended by doctors even though there was a cyanide scare in the history of the company. It has been discovered by my independent survey that consumers use Tylenol for their pet's needs also.
Solubility is defined as the greatest amount of a solid, liquid or gaseous chemical substance that will dissolve in equilibrium in a specified volume of solid, liquid or gaseous solvent at a particular temperature or pressure to form a homogenous solution. Meanwhile, dissolution is a process whereby the solid chemical substance is dissolved in the solvent to form a solution.
Neutralisation of Stomach Acid Investigation Aim: To find which tablets are best for neutralising excess stomach acid. Introduction: Prediction: I predict that the indigestion tablet with the most carbonates will need the most acids for it to go neutral. The tablets with the least carbonates will need the least amount of acid for it to go neutral. So the best cure for neutralising a build up of stomach I would think would be the tablets with the least amount of carbonates because if you had a liittle amount of stomach acid and you took a tablet with lots of carbonates instead of making it neutral it would make yr stomach alkaline as with the least amount of carbons it would make your stomach more neutral. As I look at the ham sandwich sitting on the plate before me, I start to feel queasy with disgust. The slab of ham is laced with fat. The white solid stuff is just sitting there, taunting me. Daring me to eat it. The bread is stale, crumbling, falling apart. I know that as soon as I pick up the sandwich, the bread is going to disintegrate in my fingers, leaving me with nothing but the malicious ham. No, I think to myself. I will not eat this sandwich.
Imagine you are eating a sandwich containing wheat bread, ham, lettuce, and Swiss cheese. Do you ever wonder where the nutrients go from all of the previous listed ingredients? Well, when a bite of this sandwich is taken, the mouth produces a saliva enzyme called amylase. This enzyme immediately goes to work by breaking down the carbohydrates that are in the bread. Once, the bite is completely chewed, the contents then are swallowed and go down the esophagus and begin to head towards the upper esophageal sphincter and the is involuntarily pushed towards the stomach. The next passage for the sandwich is to go through the lower esophageal sphincter; which transports the sandwich into the stomach.
Barbiturate. Now where would you think of a name like that? Legend has it that this drug was derived when a 29 year old research assistant, Adolph von Baeyer, was working in his Belgian laboratory in 1863 when he took the condensation of malonic acid and combined it with Urea. Von Baeyer went downtown to a local pub to celebrate where some army officers where celebrating Feast Day of Saint Barbara. So he took the name Barbara and combined it with the chemical that mostly made up this new acid and came out with barbituric acid.
Borax, another one of slimes key ingredient! Borax is an important boron compound. Borax is made from composites from seasonal lakes. Borax is a made of little white crystals. Borax isn't only used for Slime. Borax is a detergent booster. So Borax is not safe for everybody, it will have different symptoms to different
Over the course of the past 60 years, an increasing amount of the current population is using plastic and reusable products to try and reduce the amount of waste that is being thrown away. Bisphenol A (BPA) is used to manufacture polycarbonate #7 plastic which have help strengthen plastic bottles, food containers and epoxy resins (University of Minnesota, 2008). BPA is used in a range of products from every day plastic beverage containers and plastic dinnerware, to compact disks, impact-resistant safety equipment, automobile parts, and toys (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2013). The CDC (2013) also states that BPA epoxy resins are used in the protective linings of food cans, in dental sealants, and in other products (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2013).
Over the years barium sulfate has proven to be a successful contrast agent for examination of the gastrointestinal tract. Though the road to discovery was long and relentless at times, when it finally found its niche in medicine it was only to the advantage of the physicians and patients today. There are many new diagnostic tools in radiology today that have led to the questioning of barium studies’ place in medicine and whether it will remain there long. And to what cost it will take to keep barium around, only time will tell some say. Will it prove to be an obsolete and unnecessary step in viewing, finding and diagnosing pathology or will the scanning technology of the modern radiology day find its diagnostic qualities outdated and pointless compared to its more detailed and less time consuming counterparts.
It will act as a moisturizer and also will prevent your face from getting razor nicks. It can be put to use as leather cleaner. All you need to do is to dab a little peanut butter on a soft cloth and clean all your leather items. Another is to use it as an odor remover. If you want to remove the smell of cooking from your frying pan, just put a little amount of peanut butter into frying pan and fry it for some time. This will eliminate smell faster than those fancy air fresheners. It can also be used as gum remover and glue remover. Price sticker removal is also easy if you use peanut butter for the purpose. These are just some examples of how to use peanut butter. You can try and find other uses and please share it with others
