Holden’s Character Sketch
Holden is the main character in “The Catcher in The Rye” book who is a problematic teenager that narrates his life’s difficult stories. He, as a non-conformist boy,does not match with his environment including his family, and the Pency school’s teachers and the majority of his classmates, so he is ignored by his relatives. Also Holden is not a simple and idiot guy and even he is very intelligent person, in addition he is a protective teenager.
Holden talks about his education background and in primary judgment due to his low marks and consecutive flunking, he seems not to be an intelligent, but he has very intellectual analyzing from their environment more mature than his age, for example he talked about his …show more content…

He would rather flunk from the school easily even though he got many warning during the education semester and he said:
” I was flunking four subjects and not applying myself and all. They gave me frequent warning to start applying myself--especially around midterms, when my parents came up for a conference with old Thurmer--but I didn't do it”[page 6]
He also does everything in his own special way, for example when all students went to see the big football game in the field, he went somewhere else or he has don’t listen to his teacher, Mr. Spencer, while the old teacher tried to advise him, he neglected and said:” I mean I could shoot the old bull to old Spencer and think about those ducks at the same time. It's funny. You don't have to think too hard when you talk to a teacher”
Holden is a stubborn and non-conformist character.
There is not enough information in these six chapter to have a deep description about Holden’s complex character, and maybe something in this character sketch change drastically in next chapters, but Holden seems an intelligent, stubborn and protective character who confronts many problems in his
