Popular Culture Throughout the past years Hip Hop and Rap artist use their music to express their views, opinions, and how they are feelings in their songs. From the artist lyrics someone will have an understanding of what the artist is talking about because either they have done the same things or they are having the same problem. The first amendment of the constitution is freedom of speech and that’s what hip hop artist is doing. Hip hop music has influenced our culture both positive and negative way. Hip hop has influence police brutality and violence towards young people. Hip hop has big influenced in our culture because they speak for people who cannot speak for them self. One of the most significant positive influences of hip hop music is that an entire segment of the population developed a way to relate their experience artistically to the world. Much of the style and the language used was determined by the lives and cultures of the artists. Since most hip hop artists were of African descent, much of established white America saw the music as a threat. They heard the explicit lyrics and the violence that some of the music talked about. This gives people a voice of expression. When inner conflicts are expressed to others, often times that expression allow others to relate. Music is very powerful. It can control people’s emotions and change the way they act. What people see in music videos or lyrics may affect what they do, especially teens. Hip hop song lyrics include violence, sex, vulgar language, drugs, and alcohol use. Unfortunately, teenagers are the number one fans of this types of music. Most people worry about the negative influences of hip hop and rap on the teenagers still too young to choose what is right or wrong.
