Corporate culture is the definition of how a business or corporation is represented to the employees, business atmosphere, and the community. If the corporate culture is weak and unstable this will have an impact on employee performance but also opinion. Corporate Culture – What Is It? A person could seek employment at a corporation because of position or for more money. A person does not apply for a job at a business that has a bad reputation or ill working environment for the employees. A person seeks happiness and contentment in a place of employment that helps provide a tolerable or happy environment. Corporate culture can have an effect on how this working environment is molded and produced. The textbook definition or corporate culture is “shared and deeply held beliefs that determine how a company’s employees interact with each other. Good communication skills enhance the positive culture by allowing everyone to be aware of ongoing projects, ideas and thoughts, deadlines, and inner company news that is being addressed. Imagine for a minute that being at work and not receiving an email or phone call all day long and not knowing what is going on. This type of chaos will bring down the culture and the employee respect for the organization. The idea of that the no one cares about what is going on or management does not communicate with employees will give the assumption that the company just does not care about them. The basis of setting the most appropriate culture of a company is not only to move or increase the profitability but also to make the stakeholders happy and satisfied. The definition of organizational (corporate) culture is a pattern of basic assumptions that are considered valid and that are taught to new members as the way to perceive, think, and feel in the organization. In both American and Northwest airlines, their cultures provide a sense of identity to the members and increase their commitment to the organization. A company’s leadership provides the vision and support needed for ethical conduct, in order to be successful. For instance, I may strongly prefer a conformist corporate culture with set hours and established processes, but to another person she might not be contented in an informal atmosphere.
