What Egyptians usually ate/what food was made from:
Pharaoh made sure that the Egyptians would eat well besides a couple of sacred animals nothing was able to stop them from growing and gathering healthy food. The Egyptians would usually eat bread, lamb, goat, fish, birds, eggs, cheese, and butter. From vegetables they usually ate green vegetables, lentils, figs, dates, onions, and they loved garlic. Bread was made with wheat and barley and was sweetened with dates, honey, or figs. Beer was a common drink is Ancient Egypt. The beer was often made from barley. Although it was usually as thick as a milkshake, and didnt have much alcohol but it was very nutritional. So that is why they would always drink the drinks that they made. Although the Nile River would flow North to the Mediterranean, melting snow from the mountains in the South, would cause the Nile to flood on its way North to egypt. When that would happen it left behind a rich fertile soil that made it easier for them to grow crops.
What did the upper-class egyptians eat?
The upper class egyptians would eat meat and milk. They would also eat a lot of vegetables and dates. Their dinner was usually served on a small table, the food would be brought to the egyptians one by one. They wouldn’t eat with spoons, forks, or knives. They used their fingers to eat and would just wash their hands in courses if they needed to. On the other hand, the lower class egyptians ate fresh bread, fish, eggs, onions, vegetables, and beer. They also ate with their fingers but would eat on mats that were woven from reeds.
What did they eat/do when they were in a drought?
When they were stuck in a drought, nobody from ancient egypt would have to go hungry. They were smart people and had their ways of keeping themselves away from starvation. Their two main ways was by fishing from the Nile river or gathering eggs. Food would was dried then get stored in containers. Grain would get stored so later on everybody would be able to split it
