Reflection
Learning about health services and health service organizations was interesting due to how HSOs/HSs complement each other in the healthcare industry. HSOs/HSs work in a tangled network of various facilities and services that provide the structure and the ability for health care to be provide to clients. The governing board (GB) and chief executive officer (CEO) are leadership positions I would like to hold here in the VA or work inside the employee union. Hospital staff and management arrangements can be perplexed due to the various job titles, duties, responsibility, and other factors that staff members must consider. Working at VA hospital, I have witness conflicts between lower, middle, and senior management, which is why
WellStar Health Systems is currently the preeminent and largest health care provider in Metro Atlanta. WellStar Health Systems is a not-for-profit institution that is composed of 5 hospitals and an abundance of physician groups. Physician specialty groups included within WellStar are: ENT, Psychiatry, Endocrinology, Pulmonary Medicine, Infectious Disease, General Surgery, Rehabilitation, Pathology, and Rheumatology. WellStar’s organizational design is composed of internal and external factors that define the organization’s size, organizational structure, and processes. Internal and external factors are the basis for influencing managerial conclusions in decision-making. These factors vary from organization to organization and are the rationale for understanding WellStar’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Understanding these variables is a necessity for the sake of WellStar’s survival
This paper’s brief intent is to identify the policies and procedures currently being developed at Midwest Hospital. It identifies how the company’s Management Committee was formed and how they problem solved and delegated responsibilities. This paper recognizes the hospital’s greatest attributes and their weakest link. Midwest Hospital hired Dr. Herb Davis to help facilitate the development and implementation of resolutions for each issue.
Health care organizations vary in their levels of HRM and HIT capabilities. A few exceptional health care organizations have built both of these capabilities and have derived significant complementarities between HRM and HIT that, in turn, have allowed them to be leaders in value-based health care delivery.” (Khatri, Pasupathy, & Hicks, 2017). “Several health care organizations have developed capabilities in either HRM or HIT but not in both, and still others have developed capabilities in neither function. Outsourcing of HRM and HIT by health care organizations is likely to hamper the integration and embedding of these functions in organizational operations.” (Khatri, Pasupathy, & Hicks, 2017). This site opened my eyes to not believing it is not all the medical centers fault. It could also happen through outsourcing which could help the company or hamper
The organizational structure of our healthcare organization would be described as a large organization involving four other healthcare institutions in the Tampa Bay area. Our health care facility is the largest of the four hospitals. Our organization is a 431-bed facility that is “home to five Centers of Excellence that focus on major disease areas including cancer treatment, women's health, pediatrics, diabetes management and orthopaedics” (University Community Health, 2011). The type of services we provide are community outreach programs, inpatient and outpatient services, clinics and centers, rehabilitation center, imaging services, and robotic services. “Our mission is to offer patients access to the most advanced technology and treatment options available” (University Community Health, 2011). I would describe our organizational structure as decentralized between the individual hospitals as well as within each healthcare facility. The responsibility of the decision making is delegated to the ones doing the work and they are accountable for the results (Danna, 2009). There are interdisciplinary committees between facilities as well as within each facility. Therefore improving communication, collaboration, and s...
My sixteen week class in English 111. I was really nervous about this class. Because English has never been my strong point. This class has hard, but fun all at the same time. I learn a lot from this class. Meanwhile, the first day of class you handed a paper with a question on it. “The first thing I want to say to you who are students is that you must not think of being here to receive an education; instead, you will do much better to think of being here to claim one.” Even though putting my all in what I have learned, claiming my education with hard work because using the skills of the meal plan, as we write to different audiences and learning to be a Critically thinker as I start becoming a critically-Literate Citizenship.
A role for Health Care Administration is more like what holds any department together, like nursing, ICU, surgical, etc. HCA spend substantial quantity of time on communication, problem solving and decision making, collaboration with other administrators, and cost containment (Purnell, 1999). Institutional ethics and organizational ethics are familiar phrases with the current health care systems with the current health care system. The tensions created by differences in organizational, individual, and professional values are noticeable when administrators and managers disagree with ways to operationalize organizational goals without violating personal and professional values (Badzek, Mitchell, Marra, Bower, 1998). Administrators have become
An organizational analysis is an important tool to become familiar with how medical businesses and organizations are able to meet standards of care, provide services for the community and provide employment to health care providers. There are many different aspects to evaluate in an organizational analysis. This paper will describe these many aspects and apply the categories to the University Medical Center (UMC) as the organization being analyzed.

The executive director of a health care support service non-profit organization represents the value of interpersonal communication, and relationships through various methods in different roles of this position. For example, the executive director should possess exceptional communication skills, group and public communication skills, effective communication, and managerial skills. Healthcare administration provides leadership and managemnt to health care systems, hospitals, and private or public health systems. There are requirements for most professions in the health industry but with the proper education and certification, most entry-level careers are attainable. My research has helped me learn many aspects of this profession and what it takes
Healthcare administration is a field that is often overlooked, but is essentially the beating heart of any healthcare organization. With more and more hospital, and clinics, and other healthcare organizations popping up everywhere there is a need for people like me to manage the day-to-day operations. I am choosing to apply to this program because I want to study how the U.S. healthcare system operates. I want to learn the essential skills of operating a healthcare facility such as managing a budget, reducing healthcare costs, analyzing the efficiency of an organization and proposing ways to improve it. This program is going to give me the necessary education and skills so I can carry out my goal of being a healthcare administrator.
Back in the summer of 2014, it was the busiest, most memorable, and unusual summer before I turned into a teenager. I attended AMHS summer program, specifically Algebra 1, during the summer after my 6th grade school year. Within 2 months, I finished this condensed, compressed, and complicated class full of fatigue. With such experience, 7th grade has been easier for me. This experience helped me develop trust with AMHS. It also encouraged me to attend your freshman open house event about 2 ½ weeks ago. The school has a great variety of opportunities, a solid support for students, and most importantly, puts their students above all. AMHS has moved from the bottom to the top of my list of high schools to attend to. I whole heartily believe that this school, AMHS, can efficiently, in my 4 years of high school, benefit the success of my future. Here’s what I’ve taken away from my experience with Mitty.
Quality health care is precipitously deteriorating amongst the nation’s health care industry. The health industry trends of high turn over rates amongst staff and important key employees are creating a rift in profit margins, decreasing patient quality care, triggering higher expenses and loss of patients (Hunt, 2009). In the “Best Practices in Health Leadership Talent Management and Succession Planning” case studies, presented by the National Center for
... those roles are focusing on recruitment, employee performance management benefits, compensation, training and retention in an organization. In health care facilities the individual in charge of the Human Resources department will most likely report to one of the organization’s two top executive; the President or Chief Executive Officer (CEO) or the Executive Vice President or Chief Operating officer (COO).Most of today’s health care Human Resources function report to the top executive.
Leadership in health services is extremely important for companies to function at the best of their ability. I truly believe there are positive, negative, and neutral leaders. A leader can either make employees feel safe and comfortable or have employees on edge. For me personally I’ve dealt with both types of leaders, I even deal with both types of leaders in my current job. For this assignment I’ve decided to write about my shift supervisor at my current job.
