While I was taking the implicit association test of sexuality, I noticed that I am not a bias person by any means. The results to the test even showed no significant difference between my reaction time to the trails. Personally, It does not matter to me if you are heterosexual or homosexual. Actually, we depend on our ourselves to be happy and not care what others think. I learned that even though we might act and look different, yet we are all the same in some ways. I mean, to say the least that what ever makes us happy should be our main focus, instead of listening and being hurt by others views. Today in our society, this kind of ordeal is happening everywhere. You read about it in magazines, see it on different talk shows, or you might even know someone who has gone through it or is considering it. If you are not happy with yourself you are going to be miserable until something is done about it. If that means coming out of the closet or going a step further and having a sex change, more power to you. You can't make everyone around you happy. Your first mission is to feel good about yourself. If your friends and family are genuine they will like you no matter what the circumstances are. In my own personal life, I have been friends with Pierce my guy best friend since the fifth grade. He moved away to Florida our ninth grade year.

an implicit association test (IAT) measures the attitudes of the cognitive functions which determine judgment. The Implicit Association Test (Race) measures word associations between groups of people of certain race or ethnicity (e.g., European-American, African American) and the concepts of “good” and “bad”. The speed and ease with which an association is made is measured and taken as confirmation for an implicit bias or attitude or belief held for that social group. The IAT will help uncover any hidden prejudice and bring it to the forefront of consciousness to which children can become aware of their biases and possibly through cultural exposure be able to exhibit cultural acceptance (Benaji, M & Greenwald, 2013).

It is very reasonable to conclude that research on depression of those who identify as gay, lesbian or transsexual is not accurate; there is an underreporting of people who identify as these sexual orientations because of the fear of being different. It is understood that those apart of the LGBTQ community actively hide their identity in hopes to avoid being rejected or abused (Bird, 2013). What controls a human's sexual orientation? The long-standing debate of nature versus nurture can be extended to explaining human sexual orientation. Is it biological or environmental? The biological explanation has been gaining popularity amongst the scientific community although it is only based on speculations. It is argued that sexual orientation is linked to factors that occur during sexual differentiation. The prenatal exposure to androgens and their affect on the development of the human brain play a pivotal role in sexual orientation (2). Heredity is also part of the debate. Does biology merely provide the slate of neural circuitry upon which sexual orientation is inscribed? Do biological factors directly wire the brain so that it will support a particular orientation? Or do biological factors influence sexual orientation only indirectly?
The significance of this test was to have the person taking the test become aware of the societal bias one is being influenced by. In this case, one is privileged in society when it comes to sexulaity if one is not “different” and is straight. But the problem here is that the difference is not the problem. The “different” have no significance outside the system of privilege and oppression, it is all socially constructed. Gender has been around throughout history; however, within recent years, gender has separated itself from the traditional view of sex, e.i., male or female, and has become centered on ones masculinity or femininity. Of course gender is more than just ones masculinity or femininity, gender has become a way for one to describe, he or she, in a way in which they are different from everyone else. The study of social science deals with different aspects of society such as politics, economics, and the social aspects of society. Gender identity is closely interlinked with social science as it is based on an identity of an individual in the society. Sexuality is “the condition of being characterized and distinguished by sex” (free dictionary, 2009). There are different gender identities such as male, female, gay, lesbian, transgender, and bisexual that exists all around the world. There is inequality in gender identities and dominance of a male regardless of which sexuality they fall under. Now that, to me, is simply ridiculous. For one thing, why is your choice, as a man, to either accept or reject sex anybody else's business? And, for another, why is a man automatically assumed gay just because he didn't want to have sex with a woman? Women are not all the same, you know. You can be attracted to some and not attracted to others. I applaud these men who know what they want and won't settle because, like we tell young women who are just learning their own sexualities and likes and dislikes, you should NEVER settle. You deserve the best, not matter what you're attracted to, be it males or females, cis or trans, or all of the above. And if you're asexual and/or aromantic, then that's fine, too. You live the way you want to live and ignore everybody that says otherwise.
In today’s day in age, different sexualities and gender identities are quickly becoming more accepted in mainstream society. Despite this change, there are many people who believe that having a different sexual orientation or gender identity is a choice that is frowned upon. In order to refute this belief, research and biology of the brain is necessary. Researching the brain on the basis of sexuality is a fairly new topic of discussion because it is somewhat difficult and confusing. This paper will explore the different identities of gender, sex and sexual orientation and the main biological reasons behind these. There is also some validity of different sexual orientations and identities through the evidence of sexual disorders like Klinefelter’s and Turner’s Syndrome and gender dysphoria.
In my opinion we are all equal. we are all human beings who have the same abilities,we have two arms, two legs a brain etc… and they have many qualities that can be developed but only by the fact that their sexual orientation is different from the "common" man and woman, woman and man I feel we are depriving them from so many things, which in my opinion we are doing an injustice as a society.
