Homework Is Wrong

A survey done through the University of Michigan found that by the 2002-’03 school year, students ages 6 to 17 were doing twice as much homework as in 1981-’82. Crazy Right? Well that’s one of the reason homework is difficult and stressful for children across the globe and should be abolished so new strategies of learning can be put to the test to see if they can beat the thing that has been in education for years.

First of all, Piling homework on children is not only stressful for children but parents too because it causes their children to stay up nights to finish and throughout that time they lose concentration.In his Article, Guy Winch points out that excessive amounts of homework can lead to children having development issues, “... children who are assigned hours of homework a day are often unable to engage in the kind of socializing and play that are essential for healthy child development.”(Winch) This Quote shows that lots of homework is unhealthy for a child and their development leading to adulthood. If a child grows up not know how to be social, that could be a disadvantage and they could struggle if they are trying to get a job in a field that is stricting communication and the sad thing is , it …show more content…

Etta Kralovec explains that, “...The experience of homework is very different depending on which side of the economic divide you sit...Others students go home to caring for siblings in crowded apartments and often-absent parents who barely make ends meet”(Kralovec).This Quote demonstrates how social classes are different and some families may harder time coming up with money to get the resources their child needs to be successful.Sometimes the child either has to deal with what they can get or most will just not do it if they don’t get
