Inventory the food storage areas, including all pantries, root cellars and freezers. Plan the next few months’ worth of meals using foods that will be replenished with this year’s harvest. This is also a good time to clean storage areas thoroughly before they are refilled with summer’s harvest.

In the busy months of spring, summer and fall, it is often difficult to find time to replenish homemade goods that are used throughout the year, such as laundry soap, cleaning solutions, medicinal ointments and other products. The slower months of winter are the perfect time to work ahead and leave the stress of adding one more item to the to do list behind. Estimate the needs of household and start from there. Keep track of what was made and when it runs out to plan more accurately the following year.

First of all, get a house, and a woman and an ox for the plough--a slave woman and not a wife, to follow the oxen as well--and make everything ready at home, so that you may not have to ask of another, and he refuse you, and so, because you are in lack, the season pass by and your work come to nothing.
The expansion of the United States is such a vital part of American history, yet some often forget how it all happened. Many thriving settlers were given an extraordinary opportunity starting on January 1, 1863 that would end up laying the floor work for many Midwestern and Western citizens today. However, think about all the people the Homestead Act of 1862 affected. There was a lot of pressure on the original homesteaders to make good use of their newfound land, the government was giving out land that wasn’t exactly theirs, and the Native American would have some their rights stolen.

In the late fifth century B.C., I was a farmer who owned no more than three acres of land around the population of Athens. In our time, being a farmer is different of what we know today, it was an extremely hard occupation due to the poor quality of the soil. For that reason I have to come up with a plan on how to economize on space. I had to separate each cereals, olives, and grapes in different fields.
