As the world population grows exponentially, people are finding it harder to maintain a job and a place to live. Many people must face the harsh reality of having to live on the streets. Others are fortunate enough to find shelter with family or friends. We should not only focus on the issue of homelessness because there are many people living in poverty who have a place to live but still face serious related issues.

The United States is facing a Macro level issue of the homelessness because it is a socioeconomic aspect, and this issue is not only seen in Chicago but also all around the world. In the United States, many people are suffering homelessness, but also domestic violence. Many people have gone through psychological problems, child abuse, substance abuse, drug or alcohol abuse. Being a minority along with being homeless makes them susceptible to confront poverty. But also it is a micro level issue because it is affecting individuals, and families. It is important for the professionals to be culturally sensitive, but also address and understand their cultural views. It is not only the Americans, Mexicans or Alaskan Native participants that experience homelessness, as this problem affects all cultures and races. Society’s neglect of the homeless is a serious problem since homeless people are treated poorly, and nothing is being done to improve it. The homeless have been dubbed the outcasts of society and receive practically no assistance from the government. Things to keep in mind are that there are many solutions, but first and foremost homelessness is to be seen as a situation, not an identity.
