My chosen research topic is Hip Hop dancing. I have danced Hip Hop for leisure at Jess Dance Academy for a few years now, starting in an intermediate age group and now I have progressed to an advanced age group. I love watching professional dancers on YouTube, such as the ones who dance Matt Steffanina’s choreography. They inspire me to work hard in my own classes. However, in classes I just copy the teacher and do not know the aspects and information behind arranging the key components of hip hop into a choreographic routine.

My final research question is “How can I choreograph a Hip Hop dance routine for a beginner?”. I refined it down all the way from being “What the key components of Hip Hop dance are and how to arrange a choreographic routine …show more content…

She is the director and owner of Jess Dance Academy and has danced since three years of age. She is a reliable source as she has studied various genres of dance and completed a Bachelor of Education and Arts, Module 1 certification with Acrobatic Arts and CSTD training.
Other primary sources I will attempt to contact via email are other Hip Hop teachers in Adelaide, such as Kirsten Burt (Director/Owner at Pure Funk Dance Studios), Jenna Boffa-Maiolo (Creative Director at Star Dance Academy), Emily (Dance Instructor at ACPA) and many more.

YouTube will be included as one of my secondary sources. Online tutorials and video interviews will give me plenty of information to work with. I can also analyse Matt Steffanina’s choreography and tutorials.
