My chosen research topic is Hip Hop dancing. I have danced Hip Hop for leisure at Jess Dance Academy for a few years now, starting in an intermediate age group and now I have progressed to an advanced age group. I love watching professional dancers on YouTube, such as the ones who dance Matt Steffanina’s choreography. They inspire me to work hard in my own classes. However, in classes I just copy the teacher and do not know the aspects and information behind arranging the key components of hip hop into a choreographic routine.
My final research question is “How can I choreograph a Hip Hop dance routine for a beginner?”. I refined it down all the way from being “What the key components of Hip Hop dance are and how to arrange a choreographic routine

She is the director and owner of Jess Dance Academy and has danced since three years of age. She is a reliable source as she has studied various genres of dance and completed a Bachelor of Education and Arts, Module 1 certification with Acrobatic Arts and CSTD training.
Other primary sources I will attempt to contact via email are other Hip Hop teachers in Adelaide, such as Kirsten Burt (Director/Owner at Pure Funk Dance Studios), Jenna Boffa-Maiolo (Creative Director at Star Dance Academy), Emily (Dance Instructor at ACPA) and many more.
YouTube will be included as one of my secondary sources. Online tutorials and video interviews will give me plenty of information to work with. I can also analyse Matt Steffanina’s choreography and tutorials.
The website https://www.steezy.co/ makes a great secondary source as it includes Online Hip Hop classes as well as plenty of articles teaching the reader in-depth about the different components of Hip Hop dance and
...re of different dance cultures within the vocabulary of their scope, then the results would be so astounding as to give that dancer an unspoken quality distinguishing them from among their peers. Movement knowledge is cultural knowledge and remembering that each culture is beautiful and different in its own way can help create a dancer that will resonate with any audience member.
There were Dunham Technique seminars where for example she taught her dance students how to move their body like a snake. While the dancers would warm up, Dunham would teach them the cultural history behind her technique such as the isolation technique as well as the difference behind techniques and dance movements. Ballroom dancing in New York gives underprivileged children the opportunity to be exposed to the arts, which is usually a program that is cut from low-income schools. For the dancer, music and choreography are paramount. The music guides the dancer, and the moves express the music. However, the dance has to start from somewhere.

The longevity of Hip-Hop as a cultural movement can most directly be attributed to its humble roots. For multiple generations of young people, Hip-Hop has directly reflected the political, economic, and social realities of their lives. Widely regarded as the “father” of the Hip-Hop, Afrika Bambaataa named the cultural movement and defined its four fundamental elements, which consisted of disc jockeying, break dancing, graffiti art, and rapping. Dating back to its establishment Hip-Hop has always been a cultural movement. Defined by far more then just a style of music, Hip-Hop influences fashion, vernacular, philosophy, and the aesthetic sensibility of a large portion of the youth population (Homolka 2010).
As the semester comes to a close, I take this opportunity to look back on what I have learned in this class. Since I was young boy, hip-hop has been a huge part of my life. Through the best and worst times, music has always been an escape me. It is an honor to write an essay about my favorite genre of music and to explore and compare hip-hop in American and around the world. In this essay, I will guide you and explain how this genre of music has spread internationally and has become a global sensation.
Since the beginning of hip hop culture, its music, its style of art, and style of dance has had a major effect on the world and it has increased. ...
When we were told that we needed to pick a research topic, I wasn’t quite sure what to do. After thinking about it in class, I decided that I should research what it is like to play college basketball because I’m playing college basketball next
When it comes to the topic of legalizing prostitution, some of us will readily agree that it is the oldest profession that involves money rather than the historic hunter and gather. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of the safety of the man or woman selling their body for financial gain. Though I concede that prostitution can be dangerous, I still insist that legalizing prostitution would not only benefit the men and women involved, it would also be a financial gain to the government.
Breakdancing The history of choreography is also very important: Any choreography that seems new, fresh and different is usually a variation of something that has been done before. As long as men and women have lived upon this earth, they have danced. The art of movement is among the oldest of the arts. So for eight months I’ve been learning the skills of hip hop and breakdancing by going to a hip hop club every week where I learned the basic skills of breaking like how to top-rock and six-step.
The second step to carrying out my exit project, was researching about time lapse photography, how to make a time lapse video, and finding the needed materials to make the time lapse video. The research part was easy due to the research essay process that was required of us. To complete my exit project, I had to have a thoroughly written research essay on my topic. Luckily, I had the proper resources and guidelines to complete this research paper. I did lots of research on how to create time lapse videos along with the history and origins of it. Writi...
Hip hop dance was important to African American culture because it allowed them to create their own culture, their own music their own style. When watching Flex is Kings, there are many young men in a video demonstrating what hip hop dance culture has evolved to in the 21st century. They are a contemporary urban dance movement. One can see the emotion and the “seriousness” in their movements. Hip hop dance is these people’s lives’(“Flex Is Kings”). Flex is a type of street dance, sometimes is called “bone breaking” due to their moves looking like a person either has no bones or that they are literally breaking them to create the skin cringing dances they create(“Flexing”). Dancers such as Storyboard P have mastered the art of flexing. He mentions in one of his interviews that when dancing one is revealing who they are (“Storyboard P”). African American people lean on this particular art form to elaborate how, as a race we have been able to display our culture to mainstream America. Mainstream is basically a majority of people (Mainstream).
Something that I am fairly sure everyone has an opinion on is music. I have yet to meet a person who had to preference to music; everyone has something that they like to listen to. Lately for me that music has been hip-hop.
