Hilton Head Beach Observation Report

This past week I have spent my time at Hilton Head beach with my family, and when you are at the beach there are a lot of different types of people to just sit and observe. After reading the instructions for this essay I went down to the beach the next day to sit out to see what different kinds of behaviors I could observe. So in this paper I am going to discuss a couple’s nonverbal communication through their kinesics, haptics, and by what they are wearing. Kinesics which is body movements, like facial expressions, hand gestures, eye behavior, and posture. I noticed that when she was lying on the beach he would be sitting in his chair and when she was not paying any attention he would stare at her with a loving and admiring expression that you do not see that often. They were also very playful with each other when they were walking toward the ocean together. Once they were in the ocean, about waist deep, they were talking and every now and then he would splash her a little, just enough for her to give him a playful smile and splash him back even more. What I saw between them was hand holding when they walked toward the ocean and while they sat on the beach. They held hands for the majority of the time I was on the beach. She would also slap him, playfully, when he would say something jokingly and they would just laugh at each other. Their relationship also involved a lot of kissing, which is common when you are in a relationship. He would give her a little peck on the cheek and she would just smile at him, there were not any “sloppy kisses” going on between the two of them. All of the touching behavior that I saw between them was all positive or in a joking
