I believe Hillary Clinton won the first presidential debate. Donald Trump behaved defensively throughout the night. Instead of answering the questions Lester Holt asked and improving his public image, he was more focused on criticizing Hillary Clinton. Donald Trump also was not prepared and did not fully research the plans he talked about, while Hillary had research backing up her plans and research backing up the failure of Donald Trump’s plans. During the first segment, both candidates discussed their tax plans. Donald Trump said his plan would increase employment by reducing taxes for businesses. Trump said “I will be reducing taxes tremendously from thirty five percent to fifteen percent for companies, small and big businesses. That's …show more content…
She said the plan would only benefit the wealthy people and would be a disaster for the economy. Trumped up trickle down is what she called his plan. Experts on the fact checker said his plan would decrease federal revenue, therefore increasing our debt. Clinton also said “ That’s why I said new jobs, with rising incomes, investments, not in more tax cuts that would add five trillion dollars to the debt.” (NPR staff). To that Donald Trump replied with denying Hillary Clinton had a tax plan multiple time, even though she was discussing her well thought out plan before he started saying that. He said “But you have no plan.” and “Secretary, you have no plan.” (NPR staff), which made no sense and causing him to devalue his opinions. He made himself look unprepared by criticising and interrupting Clinton, rather than defending and explaining why his plan was better. Clinton was prepared in every way, while Trump tried to insult her and in order to divert attention from his plan. She behaved well and smiled instead of yelling relevant information, like when Trump brought up the deleted email because he ran out of educated thing to say. Tim Alberta with the National Review agreed that Trump was unprepared
concerning domestic questions, the second was centered around the area of foreign policy, and the third and fourth debates were basically a repetition of previous topics. During each debate four news representatives asked questions to each candidate. On September 26, 1960, the first debate took place in Chicago. The The moderator was Howard K. He knows that having a strong middle class is what makes a strong economy. He was able to lower taxes for the middle class, allowing working families to save $3,600. This allows for those lower class families to build up to the middle class without seeing it all being taken away by taxes. Obama believes that instead of reducing taxes from the upper class to increase them. Mitt Romney plans to reduce taxes of the upper class would lead to large tax cut for those making over $3 million by an average of $250,000. That drop of cash flow would very negatively affect the economy. It would lead to the loss of many jobs overseas. The Obama tax plan demonstrates a functional plan I see for America. Based on the performance and content of the presidential debate, Hillary Clinton emerged the winner. A debate is a typical adversarial argument, which is characterized by competition. There is one winner and one loser. The argument revolves around two people who have different or opposite ways of thinking, argue the same topic. The arguer is intent on changing the other’s beliefs. Further, the arguer usually tries to refute the opponent by showing or invalidating the opponent’s viewpoints. In this first presidential debate, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton stated their claims and provided supporting facts to prove each is the better candidate for president. Both Donald and Hillary set out to sway more people to “their side” as choice for president of the United States.
“The wealthiest pay too little in taxes while the middle class needs more relief. I'm going to fix that. I’ll close corporate tax loopholes and make sure millionaires and billionaires can’t pay lower rates than middle-class families. And I’ll give tax relief to working families who are struggling with costs from college to health care.“I think we need to go after a company like Johnson Controls that is trying to avoid paying taxes after all of us bailed it out by pretending to sell itself in a so-called inversion in Europe,” Clinton said. This is a plan that would be agreeable with many supporters of even
Let’s start with the inspiring. “Always aim high work hard and care deeply what you believe in.” that’s a very good point don’t let other people change you thinking if you believe in achieving it do it. Another one is part of the great challenge in life is defying yourself in a moment of seizing opportunities that are given, and making the best choices”. That’s a very good point if you don’t make good choices it will backfire on you later. Hillary also said some things that were questioning, like “the Americans are tired of liars and people who pretend to be something they aren’t”. Uh Ya Hilary I think she was talking about herself. Another one is “laziness is the trait in blacks.” Well that wasn’t racist at
Donald Trump has been nearly immune to criticism. The only time Trump ever suffered significantly in the polls was when Hillary ultimately secured the requisite number of delegates to push Bernie Sanders out, to become the presumptive Democratic nominee. With former Sanders supporters beginning to coalesce around Hillary, she managed to get a bump in the polls following a stinging speech attacking Trump. To make matters worse, Trump flapped his mouth, attacking the judge presiding over the Trump University case. Trump proceeded to make what were perceived as racist comments regarding the judge because his parents were of Mexican descent.
Rhetorical Analysis Presidential Debate Clinton and Trump The presidential debate was an event where most of the population not only of United Stated of America but the whole world was waiting anxiously for. The first of the three presidential debates was developed in Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY. The first debate drew a record of the audience being one of the most watched debated in the history of United States of America.
And it was more than just tonal differences. Trump expressed little concerns for deficits -- a core principle of the most recent iteration of the GOP, best represented by Speaker Paul Ryan. His views on immigration -- from his desire to build a wall along the country's southern border to his so-called travel ban -- represented a clear break from efforts led Sens. John McCain, R-Arizona, and Marco Rubio, R-Florida, among others, to shepherd a comprehensive immigration reform bill to passage in Congress.
Have you ever wondered how some athletes have gotten so good at a certain sport? Have you ever thought about what they did in order for them to get this good? For some the answer is simple; workout and train. But for others the answer is different; the use of performance enhancing drugs such as steroids. There are some people that argue that steroids should be legalized and allowed in professional sports. Other people argue that steroids should not be allowed. Today I am going to state my opinion and justify my reason. Steroids should not be allowed in professional sports because it can be very dangerous to the athlete’s health, it is a way to gain and un-fair advantage and it can be dangerous in both social and physical aspects.
The airing of presidential debates on television is another very crucial part of the election process today. They are a chance for the public to see the candidates speak about vital current issues and their stance on political subjects. They are also a major deciding factor for voters. For example we can contrast the election between Kennedy and Nixon in 1960 and the election between Gore and Bus...
The poll tax was an annual tax that had to be paid before qualifying to vote. Southern states added the grandfather clause to their constitutions. This clause stated that even if a man failed the literacy test or could not afford the poll tax, he was still entitled to vote if he, his father, or his grandfather had been eligible to vote before January 1, 1867. ) The Nineteenth Amendment, adopted by Congress on June 4, 1919, is finally ratified by the states and becomes national law, giving women the right to vote. Voting rights for women were first proposed in July 1848, at the Seneca Falls Woman's Rights Convention organized by suffragists Susan B. Anthony and Lucretia Mott. It took 72 years of protest and activism for the Nineteenth Amendment

In her announcement speech, Clinton positions herself as the strongest candidate on the issue of creating an economy that works for every American by framing it as an unfair system that is in need of change. From years 2008 to 2016, the presidential debates have tremendously changed from formal, disciplined and professional discussions to off-topic, bad mouthing arguments. Where once we had skillful and practiced participants, we now have amateur and incompetent rivals as candidates for president. Debates once began as a way to foresee what our future president can do for our country, to allow the candidates to propose to the people ways that will fix issues, and to help us envision them as our leader. In our modern world now debates are being used in the wrong way. The opponents are insulting, disrespecting, and interrupting each other.
Hillary Clinton was trained for the debate and stay calm as usual. For once Donald Trump was for the first thirty minutes’ calm and was responding to the questions asked to him. Then, the old habits of the Republican candidate have reappeared when her rival has insinuated that it has affinity with Vladmir Putin. He began to attack his opponent, accusing her saying that she "incited" women to accuse him of sexual assault and that the situation in Aleppo in Syria was "the fault of Hillary Clinton ". He has even interrupt the Democratic candidate for the process of "dirty woman". I think, at this level he lost his cool and was disrespectful. He also several times interrupts his opponent when she was spoken.
