The school board is no longer certain fiction and novels have a place in the curriculum. But in fact, fiction and novels should stay within the curriculum because they tackle and normalize subjects that we usually wouldn’t talk about in society. Such as mental illnesses like panic disorders and social anxiety. It also introduces us to new types of mental illnesses we are not familiar with such as panic disorders. And finally, it’s interesting to read conflicts and see it get tense. The book Highly Illogical Behavior by John Whaly focuses on subjects mentioned. Highly Illogical Behavior is about a teenager named Solomon. Solomon struggles with agoraphobia which causes him to isolate him in his home which is fine by him. Desperately wanting to help is Lisa. Lisa Prayton chooses Solomon as a subject for her research essay in college. Lisa enters Solomon's life with her boyfriend Clark. As the story goes on Sol and Clark bond but the walls they have surrounded themselves collapse and their friendship is threatened. Fictional stories such as Highly Illogical Behavior should stay within the curriculum because of the not so talked about topic that needs to be known, which is mental illness, and hopefully normalize it. As the story enters part 2, the trio encounter conflicts such as Lisa and Janis’s conflict because Lisa ditched her for Solomon, Clark rumored to be gay for Solomon. On page three of chapter twenty, we learn that Clark cares about Solomon to the point where Clark would tell Sol about her essay if she wrote it. And the whole skinny dip could have caused more conflict. And in chapter 25 where Sol told Clark he loved him after his fight with Lisa.
