“Hard work beats talent, when talent doesn’t work hard.” Therefore, hard-work is key in life. Ordinarily, goals are supportive of hard-work, thus making goals core in life additionally. Throughout high school, college, and one’s métier, goals motivate a person to work harder. As a result of this enlightenment, even as a freshman in high school, I have set goals for the next four years, my years in an institution for higher education, and my career as well. Four years of one’s life that are exceptionally imperative, is the years of high school. In fabricating goals, a person is independently motivating themselves to work hard. Moreover, I, personally, have set goals such as, achieving a high grade point average and taking advanced placement courses throughout the next few years. As colleges often feel the necessity for an excellent work ethic and sufficient background knowledge, these academic goals will allow me to have a good foundation for the rigorous course work in college. Comparative to my high school goals, are my university goals. A component of the American dream is going off to college, accordingly I have set immense goals for my further education. Before I start my career, I would like to be a police officer, as this will give me a sense of two aspects of the law. Subsequent to the aforementioned, my endeavor is to be a juvenile defense lawyer, in order to improve the lives of juveniles, that otherwise, have little hope of not staying in the juvenile delinquency system. The goals of my high school, college, and career facets of my life, with hope, will allow me to do honorably in
Growing up, my parents never expected perfection but expected that I try to accomplish my best. The effort I’ve put forth in learning has been reflected in my grades throughout my high school career. I’ve entered myself in vigorous course work such as AP Government and AP English to become well prepared for my college career, all while maintaining a 4.4 grade point average this year. Not only do I engage in AP classes, but up until this year I had no study halls. I wanted my day to be packed full of interesting classes that I would enjoy learning about. My grades and choice of classes prove the effort that I put forth in my learning. Working hard now can only pay off in the future. Learning now creates a well-rounded human being. Working to learn is why I am so dedicated to my studies now.
People need to think intelligently and set goals that are specific to their needs, making it possible to achieve their goals by making sure they are measurable and realistic and making it possible to build a support system around them; furthermore, they also need to set a deadline with time frames that can be met. Chanika Charles stated that “young people are at risk of being gobbled up by despair, overcome by conditions beyond their control” (A17). To avoid this, people need to start motivating themselves and getting excited about what they want to achieve, making sure their goals are relevant to their needs and being more perseverance when situations become difficult. When setting up their goals, they must ask that magic question: is this relevant to my lifestyle, furthermore, what will I do to achieve it?
My Senior year in High School has officially begun, only one more year at Corona High. I know that Senior year is supposed to be fun, but I believe every year is an opportunity to improve. I have already set my goals for this school year. I believe I can achieve a GPA of 4.0 or above. However, there are some personal goals that I need to complete first. I need to stop my terrible habit of procrastinating. Another goal of mine is to pass my AP tests so I can earn college credit. I also want to learn new things, so I started to learn the basics of Coding, now I need to finish this course. These are some things I look to accomplish this year.
In order to prevent academic inflation-- the declining value of higher degrees of education-- and to be able to provide an appropriate level of higher education, colleges must limit their enrollment to only those who are prepared and have the potential to be successful. However, it is hard for universities to predict which students will be successful in college based solely on how they performed in high school due to the environments being almost incomparable. There is so much more that factors into someone’s potential to succeed than simply their past achievements. A lot of what motivates us to succeed are the morals and values we are taught early in life by our parents, yet even these core values can change over time. Colleges and high schools also ask very different things from their students.
Look at your life now. Think of your future. Think about what you want to become, your aspirations, ambitions, and goals for yourself. Many of us, in this very room are seniors; we are about to graduate high school and enter a critically imperative phase in our lives, our opportunities are endless, the world is at our feet. No one can tell us that we can’t become what we wish. We alone have the power to pursue what we exemplify to be greatness.
In today 's society, there are multitudes of pressure high school students face. One of the biggest pressures put on high school students is the decision of going to college. From the moment students enter into a secondary education, they are constantly asked questions about their future plans. Teachers and parents expect students to perform their best, while giving them no chance but to look towards college. In some cases, however, college might not be the answer. Other options exist as alternate avenues after high school, however, these are not as often expressed as the idea of a four year university. Although a college education and degree is most often more impactful than a high school diploma, there is too much pressure
Goals give you something to measure yourself against and give you direction. Currently, my main goal is to graduate from East Carolina University with a bachelor’s degree of science in engineering with a concentration in biomedical engineering. My anticipated time to graduation is five years with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Beyond getting my bachelor’s degree at East Carolina University, I would like to go to medical school and become a doctor focusing on prosthetics. In order to make my goals a reality, I will have to work diligently to remain on track throughout my schooling. Additional goals that I have set for myself are to complete homework assignments by the time they are due, reading assigned material before it is discussed in class, doing well in each of my courses this semester, successfully participating in extracurricular activities, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in engineering, getting a position as an engineer, and becoming a leader within both the engineering community and the general community. A world-class engineering student woul...
Goals such as getting a high GPA or even to pass a certain class correlates to being able to learn in school. Every day I remember a phrase my mother tells me, “Academics come first.” I have taken this advice to heart by not only putting them first, but also by choosing to pursue an extremely rigorous academic program. Entering high school was a very drastic change for me, I knew that I chose very rigorous courses by participating in the pre-IB program. However, I was able to adapt to the workload very well. I quickly learned time-management skills that I had not needed in middle school. Due to my excellent time-management skills, I am able to participate in extracurricular activities that I enjoy being a part of while being able to handle the demands of my challenging academic schedule. Another key to my success is my organizational skills. Having these two strong aspects together, I always turn my assignments in on time, and I am very well prepared for tests and quizzes. Also crucial to my success is my drive to regularly opt for the most challenging classes. For example, in ninth grade, I took macroeconomics for a quarter as
My my personal goals are to get a 27 on my ACT, have a above a 2.8 GPA, and get a basketball scholarship to ORU. I need to jump into college with alacrity.I plan on reaching these goals by working hard and really focusing in all of my classes every single day and making sure I make enough time in my week to study for all my tests I take. Even if I have antipathy for a class I still need to be inquisitive and ask questions.
College is the main goal of my life. It is a life dream to go to college to get a degree and get a successful job. Everything that I have done until this point is to get to college. During my senior year I plan to apply to many colleges and to take the SAT's to get into college. My GPA and SAT scores will be crucial for me to get into college. With college I will further my business career, making more successful in the field I enjoy doing.
In order to succeed in life you must set goals for yourself. If you never set goals or learn from your mistakes you will never push yourself to greater standards. One major goal of mine is to graduate with straight A’s the whole year! I am a single-minded person so when I want to achieve something I will try my best because I always like to succeed. I will work to achieve this goal by studying as hard as I can. I will also always pay attention in school and always ask for help if im confused. This task overall can make me smarter and ready for highschool.
Graduating high school used to be my long term goal, but now that I am getting closer to this goal I have made it my short term goal and I decided to think bigger for my long term goal. The short term goal that I have made for myself is to graduate high school this year, be ranked in the top ten percent of my class, and get the most scholarships as possible to continue my education after high school. I knew that in order for me to make my short term goals a possibility than I should focus on obtaining the best possible grades since the first day of high school. It has been tough getting to this point because I have seen a lot of my classmates drop out of school because they would always say that it's hard enough to go to a public school, but they can't imagine how hard it will
If I never make goals for myself or work hard and don't learn from my mistakes I won't leave the legacy I want to leave. One goal that I want to achieve is to get stright A’s. I want to achieve this, I will study, pay attention, and follow directions. For example I spend a lot of time at my dance studio and I want to get better this year. If I'm able to achieve these objectives I will be extremely proud of myself and also my teachers and my parents will be very glad for myself. If you keep a positive mind you will be able to achieve your goals. These goals will make me smarter and a harder worker after I'm done completing my
Academic success has been a primary goal of mine since the beginning of my education. I have always given my all in every aspect of my life, but education has been especially important to me because it is the foundation of my future. As my post-secondary education is approaching, I am continuously setting goals in order to prepare myself for a change in the academic setting. I believe it is crucial to practice good study habits and continue to achieve academically as high school comes to an end.
