Ever since Friedrich Ludwig Jahn first brought gymnastics to the United States in the early 19th century, America has been obsessed with different and intriguing ways to workout. Every few years new workout trends start and take the entire nation by storm. These exercise workouts are interesting because not only are they fun, but they also describe the state America was in when they were made. High Intensity Interval Training is the next instalment in this long line of exercise workouts. Because it has become such a major fitness trend, this form of exercising has many copycat workouts. According to Men’s Health, the world’s largest men’s magazine brand, “High-intensity interval training (HIIT) is a form of exercise in which you alternate between very intense anaerobic periods and slower recovery periods for a shorter, more efficient workout.” Its job is to get the absolute most out of a workout in the least amount of time. This goal of efficiency can be traced all the way back to HIIT’s origin in the 1970’s by a man named Peter Coe. Coe was an athletics coach who created a style that included high bursts of running followed by a small time of recovery. He thought that these high bursts of energy might help the legs of Olympic Runners and had a student that finished second in the 1984 summer Olympics. In 1984, Professor Izumi Tabata took Coe’s work and tried to apply it to Olympic speed skaters. His contribution to high intensity workout was influential because he created a workout that only took 4 minutes to do. “Tabata Training” is actually one of the most popular forms of HIIT today. Finally, Jamie Timmons, a professor in systems biology, created the “Timmons Regimen” in 2012 and revolutionized the workout making it resurface into Americas major trends. Timmons took a few workouts from earlier programs and added a few of his own, turning HIIT into something that can be used by all …show more content…
Charlotte Anderson is a published writer and very popular in the workout community. In one of her articles, she talks about HIIT. “HIIT is the ideal workout for a busy schedule—whether you want to squeeze in a workout during your lunch break or to get in shape for a fast-approaching event.” As seen in this quote, not having to work out for multiple hours in a row is a major reason why exercise trends like HIIT are so popular in the US. The average American worker can put in 5 minutes of high intensity workouts throughout the day and still feel accomplished without having to quit their job or school. Overall, exercising with programs like HIIT is a major trend throughout the US because of its inexpensiveness, not having to work multiple hours in a row, and its quick
Isn’t everyone’s goal in life to be able to achieve something amazing? Better yet what about setting great goals as an individual? Wouldn’t you like to better yourself as a person? As Arnold Schwarzenegger once said “you can’t climb the ladder of success with your hands in your pockets”, this simply meaning that a person must be “hungry” and have a great drive to be able to achieve greatness. The feeling of greatness and satisfaction that a person will get from being a healthy, fit individual is unexplainable. Being satisfied with your own body is a very important factor to life itself. People that are healthy are known to live healthy lifestyles as well as to be great in age. There is no negative sides to being healthy, people that are healthy are happy. I plan to take an individual and better them by training them and making them a healthier person. The steps I will go through in order to make this happen are steps such as training the person, making a nutritional plan for them, and being there to support them along the journey. I will be training the person using some fundamentals that have worked for majority of world-class athletes. I plan to use simple bodybuilding tactics as my muscle builder, such as old school techniques that Arnold Schwarzenegger used in the golden ages of the sport itself. As my research has shown, my client and I are both pleased with the “golden era” physiques and we plan to make a healthy/fit body molded like the bodies of that “era”. In this project my client and I have decided to base the “nutritional plan” as a high protein/Low carb diet, which I will release in this paper. Through out this project, it should be well know that this is not an easy sport! And the discipline to stick with it is extre...

With America’s obesity rate on the rise a CrossFit gym that welcomes beginners, thoroughly teaches and explains each exercise and can offer a group atmosphere that’s welcoming to individuals who have never worked out before could help decrease the obesity rate. The group aspect of CrossFit is beneficial because it’s a motivator to keep attending workouts and to reach the goals you have personally set. Attending a CrossFit gym could also be a motivator because not only is the coach pushing them to get through the workout but the other members of the class are pushing each
People often go through their life working-out and going to the gym to get “buff.” For ninety-five percent of Americans that do work out, few can say that they have pushed themselves as hard as possible, but I have the distinct, and often painful, pleasure of knowing that there is another way to work out. This option is unlike any other that I have ever personally been through; and is a way that I would not wish on any average American. 4:55 a.m. Seventeen degrees Fahrenheit, a mild breeze of ten miles per-hour-- for the fifth day in a row and second consecutive month, it is time for me to wake up, make the face-numbing, core-hardening walk through the snow to the Mildred and Louis Lasch Football Building.

This increase was found coinciding with increased peak power, mean power, and total work . Sharp et al. Athletic Trainers play a crucial part in today’s professional sports. They also help on lower levels of sports in high school, and college level teams. The job of an athletic trainer is simple yet very important, they are charged with treating, and preventing injuries. A trainer does this by developing therapies to reduce pain, and improve mobility (“Athletic Trainer Salaries”). They have to stand for long periods of time, work well with athletes of different sizes, move or carry equipment around, good mobility and communication skills to give instructions (“Athletic Trainer, Healthcare Program”). These trainers serve as a crucial part of an athlete getting back into their sport. Athletic trainers usually work under the direction of a physician, so they are like the Doctor’s healing hands in action.
It is commonly known that everyone should spend at least one hour a day getting some sort of exercise. Being physically in shape can overall reduce health risks and expand one’s own life span in a positive way. As being a college student who works out daily, I completely agree with this statement because exercising has brought upon me adequate amount of health benefits as well as bestow positive mentality. It has been also reported that many elderly adults has been told by doctors to exercise as often as possible, for it helps reduce problems such as heart diseases, cholesterol and even cancer. Many younger adults also participate in exercising daily to achieve the toned or muscular body that they desire. This makes perfect sense because I don’t know one person who doesn’t want a well-defined six pack, especially when it comes to beach season.

As the saying goes “health is wealth”, a good health is as primary a need in human life as food, clothing, and shelter. Exercise plays a key role in achieving a good health. According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, exercise can be defined as the “physical activity that is done in order to become stronger and healthier”. Scott Roeben, a humorist and creator of the award-winning humor Web site, Dribbleglass.com.Scott, in his article “The Case Against Exercise” states that the claim that exercise is a good and positive thing is a ludicrous claim and is the most destructive rumor among the rumors spread upon the humankind. He believes that exercise causes human suffering rather than promoting better health and a longer life and that the hazards
“With the exception of nutrition, more fallacies exist in the area of exercise than in any other area of health” (Dintiman, Stone, Pennington, & Davis, 1984). Exercise produces significant physical and mental benefits and is extremely vital to life. It substantially improves stamina, strengthens and tones muscles, helps prevent diseases, enhances flexibility, controls weight, and prolongs the quality of life. In order to gain all the benefits from exercise and be truly healthy, it is very important to understand and take action with both types of exercise: anaerobic and aerobic. With the combination of aerobic and anaerobic exercise, an individual will greatly increase their overall health and wellness significantly.
Exercising frequently can be a positive habit, but if a person becomes addicted to it, it has negative effects as well. Exercise addiction is not easy to identify because, like any other addict, they tend to deny they have a problem. This addiction is referred to by a variety of names such as exercise dependence, exercise addiction, obligatory exercise, compulsive athleticism, compulsive exercising, and exercise abuse. "Men and women are equally prone to exercise addiction, which affects about three percent of the population, according to a study at the University of Southern California. Exercise addicts usually work out two or three hours a day, six or seven days a week." (Seymour) Exercise addicts, of both genders, do not understand the difference between pushing their limits and overstepping them.
All over the world, it is believed that physical exercises help people achieve wellness. Physical exercise not only encourages physical wellness but also have a significant impact on mental stability and health. Want to feel better, have more energy and reduce your risk of serious disease? Look no further than exercise. The health benefits of regular exercise and physical activity are hard to ignore. Physical activity not only makes a person feel better, it can actually increase a person’s life span. Many people battle obesity and side effects that are caused by this sickness. The American Medical Association has recognized it as a disease as of two thousand and thirteen. The Liberal government has just released a document that they are cutting the Children 's Fitness Tax Credit. This is a political mistake since physical activity is the key to a healthy life and a life free of disease.
