Hi, it’s me again. I have struggled with depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts for the past two years. I have had so many bad times but a good time to go with all of them. I have had three rules that I have always looked to when I am feeling down or hopeless. The first one is that no one expects you to be perfect and that everyone makes mistakes. The second rule I look to is that don’t say you’re fine when you’re really not. My last rule I always look to is that one day, everything will be alright. My first rule, that no one expects you to be perfect has helped me so much. My depression is mostly caused by my perfectionism. I think people expect everything of my and I have learned that no one is perfect and that everyone makes mistakes.
I learned the hard way that everyone makes mistakes. I love how my friends have helped me through my hard times. One example I remember very much is when I lost my best friend. All of my other friends were so supportive and they all helped me through things. This is why this rule of knowing that everyone makes mistakes and that no one expects you to perfect is so important to me. My second rule to not say you're fine when you're not has helped me to be more trusting. Without this rule I don't think I could've ever learned to open up to people I trust. I love my family and how the people I trust really help me. WIthout learning this rule I don't think I could've ever learned that trust is hard to build. When I first started to feel depressed I didn't know that anyone loved me and that someone would actually take the time to care about me. I remember talking to my best friend and she said You should feel comfortable talking about the things that matter to you. She said she didn't mean you should unload all of your problems on your work acquaintance who casually asks how you are when you pass each other in the hall. She did mean that you should stop pushing aside your emotions as stupid or invalid. The people who care about you don’t just want to hear about how “fine” you are every day. My best friend helped me to stop saying that “i’m fine” when i’m really not.

“Just get over it,” is a phrase that many people do not understand, because when a person has a mental disorder or illness, “just getting over it,” is an impossibility. Depression is a disorder that is often mistaken with a person “just being sad.” Although, feeling depressed at times is a normal human emotion, with constantly experiencing life struggles, having loss, and self-esteem issues, it may create a problem when feelings of intense sadness lasts for weeks and disables functioning normally. Depression is more than sadness; it may be clinical depression. Knowing and understanding it is a common illness is the first step, along with knowing the indicators, illnesses and physical symptoms, warnings of suicide, the different types, and how
Never take fr granted the time spent with someone, never take for granted the people put in your llife, never take for granted the life you were given because it is not gauranteed. I learned a ton of lessons from my losing my brother but this one has had the biggest impact on me. People become bemused when I explain the whole situation, they really start thinking about everything they have taken for granted. I have to constantly remind myself to not take things for granted. I defiently took my brothers presence for granted. I tought he would always be here for me to chase around but then I lost him in a few short
Do you think its fair that players are credited for what they do, when cheating the game? Mark McGwire excelled at the game of baseball and got credit for all of his accomplishments, yet he cheated the game and used steroids. Babe Ruth, considered one of the greatest baseball players to play the game of baseball, who never cheated and set a great example for all who play baseball. Baseball has drastically changed over the years, especially in the cheating scandals of steroids; Babe Ruth set a great example by excelling in the sport and doing it clean, contrasting with Mark McGwire. Their existence shows how society accepted honesty and doing it the clean way in Babe’s era and how society accepts the scandals and dishonesty of Mark’s era.
Washington says to do everything to the best of your ability-even sweeping. There could be a lot of pointless things people have to do throughout the day, but they have to do it. Most do not do the little things in life, which can show others you cannot do things by yourself. Moreover, T.S. Eliot says to not be a person who lives with regrets but instead a person who asks an “overwhelming question.” Asking questions gives people the impression that you care about they thing you are asking about.
Mary Wollstonecraft, a women’s rights advocate in the year 1792 summed it up perfectly when she said, “I do not wish them [women] to have power over men; but over themselves.” She is describing the fight within every woman in the Feminist Movement that began in the 1700’s and extended throughout the late 20th century. This powerful motion was a drive to address the debated issues of reproductive rights, domestic violence, maternity leave, equal pay, women’s suffrage, sexual harassment, and sexual violence. As time has passed, feminists have pushed extremely hard to gain equal rights and respect from their male counterparts. Unfortunately in today’s world, society still puts an emphasis on a women’s exterior beauty. They emphasize it in magazines, television commercials, and even the infamous beauty pageant. The industry of beauty pageants is growing rapidly, jeopardizing the continuous work of many women’s rights advocates, throwing away the continuing efforts for equal rights (Miss America, 2011).
Overcoming perfectionism requires a fundamental shift in your attitude toward yourself and how you approach life in general. The following seven guidelines are intended as a starting point for making such a shift.
James Baldwin’s works were influenced by the times in which he lived, as an African American writer he strove for equality and used his pen to work for civil rights through elements of his childhood among other aspects.
This is where many people feel a need to respond. I can just hear many of you say "But you can 't simply STOP being depressed! It 's a disease!" Well, there 's more to it then that. Our thoughts trigger feelings. Can we agree on this? When we awaken in the morning, if we begin our day with cheerful thoughts, it generally sets a positive mood. If we begin our day with dreadful thoughts about bills, traffic, marital problems, car problems, the weather, etc, then it sets a negative mood. Thoughts remain on the back burner of our subconscious, even after the thoughts have been forgotten on a conscious
There is hope for anyone and everyone who is lost in having suicidal thoughts or experiencing depression. While experiencing these awful feelings, you may feel like there is no hope for you and that there may not be a fixing to your life problems but, there is hope. One of the first steps to free yourself from these dark feelings is to realize that if you are having suicidal thoughts or have been experiencing severe depression, you must reach out for help. Reaching out for help can help save your life. Reaching out for help does not always mean going to a psychotherapist or a psychiatrist. Saving your life and finding your way out of depression can be found in simply venting and getting advice from a trusted friend, family member, co-worker, or possibly even a complete stranger could help you save yourself. But if you feel like you are truly lonely and could not even have courage to seek for help, you can always pray to God. Many people who have recovered from depression and never went to a psychologist, psychiatrist, psychotherapist, or any professional help have claimed to have found themselves rid of these horrible feelings by prayer, which gave them hope for a better tomorrow and strength to withstand all the trials that they may be facing in their difficult times. No matter how bad or horrible you may feel like your trial is, there is hope, solution, and a way out of the darkness for everyone. After all, it cannot rain
The thought of life coming to an end is a scary thought for anyone, but for someone who is depressed and suicidal it may seem to them as a release of some kind. In reality is suicide going to solve these patient’s problems? The patient may think so, but it will not solve any issues or problems. Suicide is a pertinent solution that no one can return from. My experience with depressed and suicidal people or patients is small. This is why I chose to write about patients who are depressed and suicidal. Even though my experience is small. I want to learn what can be done for these patients, and how I can be a better advocate for them.
Can taking exams cause much stress on students? There is such thing as exam stress. The stress includes disturbed sleep patterns, tiredness, worrying, irregular eating habits, increased infections, and inability to concentrate (Dunford, 2014). Would our society be better off without final exams? A final exam is an examination administered at the end of an academic term. Neil DeGrasse Tyson once said, “The only way you can invent tomorrow is if you break out of the enclosure that the school system has provided for by the exams written by people who are trained in another generation (year).” What he is trying to say is that we need innovation within our school systems. We cannot base our tests and exams off the same exact thing every single year. Our students are being taught the test and not the actual subject. The tests are normally from a long time ago and they are just re-used and something needs to be changed about that. Our school systems need to start using alternatives to the final exam. There are alternatives to the typical academic testing out there and school systems need to start using other methods to measure the retention and performance of their students.
Most everyone at some time in his or her life will experience periods of anxiety, sadness, and despair. These are normal reactions to the pain of loss, rejection, or disappointment. Those with serious mental illnesses, however, often experience much more extreme reactions, reactions that can leave them mired in hopelessness. And when all hope is lost, some feel that suicide is the only solution.
Someone close to a person with suicidal thoughts are filled with a constant sadness that takes a toll on them in more ways than one. The mental sadness a person feels when their thoughts overtake
Lower down your standards. Are you a perfectionist? If you are, then learn how to lower down your standards, accept mistakes, and go for accomplishments like “good enough.”
