Health, Safety, Wellness, & Security impact on employees from the HR perspective.
Every organization wants to provide a good work environment to all employees to attract possible employees, ensure retention and guarantee employee satisfaction. This protection to employees is due to the fact that employees are the most valuable asset to any organization. Providing a safe and secure work place is the employer priority to ensure the employees health, safety security and wellness.
The terms health, safety and security are closely related to each other. Health is the general state of the well being. It not only includes physical well being, but also emotional and mental well being. Safety refers to the act of protecting the physical well being of the employee. It will include the risk of accidents caused due to machinery, fire or diseases. Security refers to protecting facilities and equipments from unauthorized access and protecting (Industrial Relations Home: Employee Health and Safety)
Within the organization the personnel responsible for creating, enforcing and maintaining the health, safety and security work conditions is the Human Resources (HR) manager.
A health policy is good for both the business an employee, the business prevent employees from illness. Sick employees cost the business money and resources, since if the employee is out of the work place for an illness the production decrease; and medical expenses increase. Providing health care for all workers and their families is a very good way to improve the benefit that workers receive for the worst forms of work to render workers less vulnerable, and to express social and communal respect for them.
There two primary Health Plan forms today which include; Health Savings Account (HSA) and Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) are being heavily marketed to employers because they provide comprehensive financial assistance to employees for health purposes hence renders the employer with little cost to incur for employees medical cover. These forms of health care are very common in hazardous environment where there is high risk of getting injured like industrial workshops (Feldman & Parente, 2010).
The HR Director is responsible for investigating the situation and all parties involved to conclude if malpractice is evident. It is a role of the Human Resources Director to be involved in patient safety, which is dependent upon the actions of the facility’s personnel (Shi, 2010, p. 211). Employee training in maintaining patient safety and training on malpractice avoidance can be incorporated into new hire orientation.

This paper has discussed these aspects in detail to set a framework that can receive certain considerations by the policy makers by reviewing those aspects that have dire negative impact on businesses. Human Resource Management is defined as the process of managing human talent to achieve an organization’s objectives (Bohlander & Snell, 2010). A more detailed definition is given by the Society for Human Resource Management which states that “human resource management is the function within an organization that focuses on recruiting, managing, and providing direction for the people who work in the organization” (Schmidt, 2011). The role that human resource management plays is the most vital in all business organizations. This importance is easily seen in running a health care facility. Human resource in health care is important in improving the overall patient health outcomes and the delivery of health care services.
Introduction Canadian health and safety legislation requires companies and organizations to make a commitment towards occupational health and safety. Maintaining a safe workplace environment has numerous benefits. A safe work environment can boost employee morale, increase productivity, and improve job satisfaction. For companies and organizations, these benefits can lead to less turnover and increased employee retention. They can also reduce absenteeism while improving the culture and image of a company or organization.
Ensuring the health and safety of employees is of primary importance to the Organization. Organization is committed to maintaining safe facilities, sponsoring appropriate training programs, and providing necessary safety equipment. In addition, Administration and staff shall cooperatively develop appropriate procedures and regulations for ensuring employees' health and safety, with special emphasis on the handling of potentially hazardous equipment or substances and for investigating and reporting any accidents and mishaps. All newly employed staff shall be required to comply with the physical examination. Every employee must provide annually, at a minimum, an updated health history of current health problems.
