Summary of a Health Information Position: A health Information Analyst:
A health information analyst works in healthcare facilities such as hospitals, mental health facilities, ambulatory care facilities, nursing homes, health consultation offices, among other healthcare facilities. They are also hired in governmental and Non-governmental organizations that deal with health issues and collect patients’ data. Education required includes some data handling and mathematical skills. They should understand predictive, descriptive, and prescriptive data analysis. In the contemporary society, a master’s degree in these fields is given a priority during application for a health informatics analyst position. One professional organization that a health informatics analyst can join is CAHIIM, headquartered in Chicago, and recognized as a national accreditation body for health informatics. In order to join a network of health information analysts, one can follow social media pages such as the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) on Facebook which already have over 57,000 followers and updates events for health information analysts in the United States. In order to find employment opportunities, a well published LinkedIn profile can market a health information analyst, but they should be aggressive to visit trusted job advertisement websites. The internet, therefore, is an essential resource.
