We all have some bad habits that we find difficult to break. These problems eventually have a major impact on our lives and health. Bad habits are unwanted behaviour, which take time to break or change depending on the severity of the obsession. Common examples include: overeating, smoking, and a lazy life style.

This leaflet aims to help you address these habits, understand them and hopefully, overcome them.

Smoking

Quitting smoking can be very challenging and it is never easy to quit, but if you use a calm persuasion and not demanding or criticising yourself, slowly you will get rid of smoking. About 100,000 people in the UK die from smoking each year. Addiction to smoking leads to many diseases such as: lung cancer, heart disease, kidney problems, pulmonary diseases and it also increases the risk of miscarriage.

Guess what? Even children who live in a smoking environment are influenced to become a smoker as they grow up; smoking has a huge impact on our younger generation as they are negatively influenced by this habit and we as adults are responsible for it. Many people don’t know this is a serious issue but they regard it as normality.

There are a lot of benefits we can get from quitting smoking. You can have a healthy lifestyle and increase your life expectancy. If you stop smoking before the age of 35, your life expectancy will be slightly less than non-smokers. If you were to smoke till the age of 50, you are at a very high risk and your chances of dying from a disease caused by smoking and your disease will boosts up to a 50%. Now that is not very pleasant to hear is it?

...e for breakfast? Let me guess! You would have had bacon and sausages instead of having cereal with fruits in the morning. That's not a very healthy breakfast is it?

Minimise your intake of junk food and swap over to a healthier and a 'fruitful' diet. This in turn would make you feel good about yourself and in no time you would have the perfect shape everyone longs to have! There’s no need to skip a meal in a day to improve your diet, it is more than enough to drink plenty of water with regular meal which do not consists of junk food. Eating fresh fruits and vegetables is the way to a healthier lifestyle. Challenge yourself, live a healthier life!

It's never too late for anything. You can start living healthier from now on. Say no to junk, say no to cigarettes, and say no to laziness! One life, live it healthy.
