As I read the chapter I was thinking of a destructive behavior that I wanted to choose to work on to gradually eliminate it. However, I kept thinking to myself that sometimes one is not ready to change the behavior just yet. Therefore, if one does not have the motivation to change it becomes pointless to attempt in eliminating the destructive behavior. I mention this because I believe that change comes from within, so one ultimately has the control to facilitate that change. He provokes the reader to answer the question for himself about whether the use of the bomb was necessary to end the war quickly and without the loss of many American lives. Walker offers historical and political evidence for and against the use of the weapon, making the reader think critically about the issue. The five steps are fire scene investigation, assessment of investigative needs, formulation and evaluation of a strategy, implementation of strategic plan and presentation of formal investigation. In this article, The Seven Deadly Sins of Students, that was published in the Chronicle of Higher Education by William Pannapacker, better known as Thomas H. Benton analyzes undergraduate students. These college students create “sin-like” behaviors that soon become habits over time. Sometimes these actions are what cause students to take the simpler road, even if it causes them pain in the future. The author’s main argument in his essay is that students effectuate with the Seven Deadly Sins unconsciously and he divides these behaviors in each sin category.

When I first saw this assignment on the syllabus I wondered what I should do. After several discussions with friends I discovered I had several choices. I could give up caffeine (but none of my friends would be around me), I could give up Facebook, but I don’t think that would bother me in the long run, I could also give up Netflix, but that wouldn’t really bother me either.
